[LINED is a very obsolete editor.  It will make mistakes and cause you
to lose your information occasionally.  See HELP SOS for a similar
but good editor which is just as easy to use.  The only reason LINED is
still around is that one user uses it and has its use documented in a manual
for a number of people.  As soon as we can convince them to switch, then ZAP!]

        THE "CREATE" COMMAND CALLS LINED AND OPENS A NEW FILE
        FOR EDITING. THE COMMAND IS OF THE FORM:

        THE "EDIT" COMMAND CALLS LINED AND OPENS AN EXISTING FILE
        FOR EDITING. THE COMMAND IS OF THE FORM:

        LINED RESPONDS WITH AN ASTERISK, TO WHICH THE FOLLOWING
