Wow. Just wow.

Google, in an ever greedy/retarded/annoying move, has announced that
they will end free storage for Google Photos... for compressed photos
and videos... starting June 2021.

I'm not sure, but I think my original Pixel XL just skyrocketed in
price. Not that I'd sell it, just that it's fucking amazing how these
decisions get made. Amazing meaning "What were they thinking?"

Anger aside, I *THINK* I can understand this move. If people are
uploading everything to Photos for free, Google must have a shit-ton
of data and bejeezus knows how much is being uploaded per second. I
know Youtube is just a bandwidth Hutt. I mean the model isn't really
sustainable.

But the cynic in me is saying "They're doing this so people will buy
their bullshit storage tiers." The evidence to further back that up is
the fucking Google office suite files are going to count against it.
Really? Did people really abuse GDocs free storage that much? Fuck.
They're already feeding it so their AI can take over the world. Now
they charge us for that privilege?

This shit is really hitting people like me the hardest... you know,
the people who use the most Google products. Hangouts, Plus, Photos,
Music, (Allo, Duo, Reader, etc.), and probably things I don't remember
have been shuttered or at least fundamentally changed. And honestly, I
didn't even take the Music one that hard. I also never used a vast
majority of the other products/services they created and
unceremoniously shut down.

UPRISING

I think for capitalism to survive, there needs to be a eugenics
movement of sorts. Before you call me a lunatic, I'm talking about
getting rid of psychopaths/sociopaths. You know, the people who would
ruin your life just to get a job or something else they wanted. The
people so horrible and feel absolutely no remorse for it. The majority
of serial killers. All cold-blooded killers. They have no place in
this place we call society, except seemingly at the tops of so many
companies and corporations. It's gotten bad. I may have been oblivious
then, but I grew up in the 90s. I remember corporate greed being the
main villain. I remember price gouging being a crime. I remember
companies caring about the customers. I remember it not being all
about the money. But it's not like that now. It just seems to be
getting worse. I'm sure it doesn't help that my job involves
constantly listening to people talking about hundreds of thousands or
millions of dollars of people.

We need to stop psychopaths. It's not a matter of if they'll lie,
cheat, steal, screw over people for no good reason--it's a matter of
when.
