Lentils with tomatoes and pasta.

green or brown lentils, macaroni, broth, tomatoes, oil, garlic, onion,
ketchup, bay leaves, seasoning.

Peel and dice 1 onion, and 2 garlic cloves.  Dice enough tomatoes to
make 1.5 cups.  Prepare 5 cups of broth.  Rinse 1.25 cups of lentils.
In large pot, heat 1 tbsp oil.  Sautee onions 5 minutes.  Add garlic
and tomatoes, and stir for 1 minute.  Add lentils, 4 tbsp ketchup,
broth, bay leaves, and 1 tsp of seasoning mix (salt + pepper + dried
herbs, etc.)  Bring to a boil, and simmer for 50 minutes until lentils
are soft.  Add 1.5 cups macaroni or other small pasta, and simmer 10
more minutes until pasta is cooked.  Serve with grated cheese.  Feeds
about 3 people.
