The Eastern Townships Hockey Association
is a community organization which
perodically runs amateur street hockey
tournaments. Players and teams are based
in the ceded quad-city regions east of
Vernham, and surrounding areas.
Due to COVID-19, spring and fall
tournaments in 2020 were canceled. The
association plans to hold tournaments in
2021 for non-human (olds) participants.

OBERN MAGIC HATS WIN WINTER TOURNAMENT
The ETHA winter 2021 tournament came to
an end today, with the Obern Magic Hats
defeating the Upper Boyner Dragons 5-4
in overtime to win the final series
2-0. The teams traded goals throughout
the game with no team gaining more than
a 1 goal advantage at any point. By the
second overtime period, the Upper Boyner
elfs seemed to slow down until the Obern
team managed to net the final marker.
ETHA officials congratulate all members
of the Obern Magic Hats on their
victory, and all teams for their
sportspersonship and participation. We
are pleased to award the Obern team a
$500 gift certificate at Save-Mor.

The Locomotive were throwing their
weight around but were shut out today in
the first game against the speedier
Dragons. The surprise goblin entrants
from Lower Boyner were surprisingly
tenacious opponents to the Hammerheads,
but were no match for the dwarf team's
crisp passing. The final match between
the top-rated elf teams from Norville
and Obern was an exciting one to watch
and very even through two periods, but
the Daggers' defense fell apart in the
later going and the Hats won the game
decisively.

Port Rodiqum 4 vs. Braxon 0
Coming off a late-game collapse in their
previous match, the Daggers handily beat
their elf opponents from Upper Boyner
today, with four unanswered goals after
allowing an early one against them. The
underdog Curvysticks team from Lower
Boyner surprised everyone by containing
and almost overcoming the heavily
favored Magic Hats, who needed a
late-game lucky bank shot to get the W
over their goblin opponents. The
Hammerheads had no problems shutting
down the Braxon team today for their
second shut-out in a row. The Locomotive
were hindered again by numerous penalty
calls and sloppy defense.

Lower Boyner 9 vs. Norville 4
Obern 2 vs. Braxon 2
The Hammerheads took an early lead in
their game against the Dragons, who
spent the whole game trying to catch
up. This marks the third victory in a
row for the dwarf squad in the early
going of the tournament. Another
surprising result was the match between
the top-rated Magic Hats and the
struggling Braxon Locomotive, who played
to a tie through 3 periods and
overtime. Finally, the Curvysticks
goblins left everyone stunned, including
their elf opponents, by falling behind
4-0 in the first period and then scoring
9 unanswered goals to win.

The Curvysticks took their second
victory a row, winning 6-3 over the
winless and less nimble Braxon team. The
Dragons bested the Magic Hats 3-2 in a
defensive battle between two elf teams,
and the Hammerheads' winning streak was
finally put to and end by the Daggers
6-4 in the day's last but most
entertaining game.

Obern 1 vs. Port Rodiqum 5
The goblin Curvysticks' surprising two
game winning streak came to a crashing
end today against the elfs of Upper
Boyner, who defeated them 10-0 in the
tournament's most one-sided victory so
far. The Daggers and the Locomotive
played to a 2-2 tie, and the Hammerheads
dominated the Hats 5-1 to further extend
their lead in the standings at the
halfway mark in the schedule.

Obern 4 vs. Braxon 7
Entering the second round of the
tournament, Port Rodiqum struggled to
mount any offense against the Dragons
through two periods until blowing things
open in the third, finally shutting them
out 3-0. The elfs from Norville led
throughout their 5-3 victory over the
goblin speedsters from Lower Boyner,
redeeming themselves after their
disastrous loss to them in the first
half. The Braxons finally notched a W
against the surprisingly sluggish Magic
Hats.

Port Rodiqum 6 vs. Braxon 2
The Daggers squashed the other elfs on
the Dragons team 9-2 today, and Obern
barely edged out the Lower Boyner
Curvysticks with two late goals to win
7-5 and move up a place in the
standings. And it was the battle of
first against last between Port Rodiqum
and Braxon, with the dwarfs coming out
on top over the Locomotive as expected
in a 6-2 result.

The Locomotive annihilated the Dragons
11-2 today, in a game interrupted by
several fights and the ejection of
several players from both sides. Port
Rodiqum continued their domination of
the tournament with a 7-2 victory over
the Curvysticks, and the Daggers were no
match for the Magic Hats today, losing
8-4 and allowing the Hats to draw even
with them in the standings.
