20 - I saw some centaurs wearing uniforms.

And the other day, I saw a couple of the centaurs
hanging around the neighborhood. They were wearing
uniforms, some sort of police-style kind of thing
with the hats and jackets and such. One was going
from door to door and talking with whoever was
home for a bit before going back to the other on
the street who was taking notes or something. But
I don't like the look of any of this, at all. What
are they doing, making a census? Is it some kind
of militia? Are they finally starting to take over
around here, in an organized way? I think a
centaur police would be worse for us than no
police at all, which is what we have now. As if
*we* are causing problems for *them*? Gimme a
break.

I remember the other year when Amazon kind of
tried to stake a claim on this area. They sent
around some reps, hosted a few meetings which were
great because of the free coffee and sandwiches,
and we all got these temporary "citizen"
cards. They were planning to send in some trades
to work on our neighborhood's patched-together
electricals & plumbing, and they were going to put
in some kind of inter net link, and they even sent
in a couple of nurses to make a little clinic for
a few weeks, which was really great. And they had
a few security type people making the rounds, but
not bothering anybody. They talked about one day
doing schools, parks, garbage collection, and all
this kind of thing I remember from when I was a
kid. And we were all starting to warm up to the
idea of being Amazon citizens. But I guess once
they looked at how much it was costing to fix us
up but how we still had no money to buy all their
stuff, I guess it didn't make sense to them
anymore or something, because they stopped coming
around after a while. And our citizen cards
expired, and now we never hear from them except
for the odd drone they send buzzing around, which
they always did anyways. So much for all
that. Good sandwiches, though.
