Alarm System

Your alarm system has three methods for detecting unauthorized entry into
your vehicle. The motion sensor sets off the alarm if it detects movement.
The pin switches set off the alarm if someone opens the trunk or hood.
The door switches set off the alarm if someone opens a door.

In addition, the starter disable module prevents an unauthorized person
from starting the vehicle.

The system has several features that let you control how the system works.
For example, you can control the motion sensor's sensitivity or turn it off
completely. You can disarm the system so that the siren does not sound,
or even turn off the alarm system.

TURNING THE SYSTEM ON AND OFF

The system is normally on, so that it can automatically arm when you leave
the vehicle. However, you might not want the system to arm for valet
parking or car repair.

* To turn off the system, turn on the ignition and set VALET/NORMAL on
the indicator module VALET. The green indicator lights. The system
will not automatically arm, and you cannot arm it with the transmitter.

* To turn on the system, turn on the ignition and set VALET/NORMAL to
   NORMAL.

SETTING THE STARTER DISABLE MODULE

To turn on the starter disable module, set AUTO BYPASS on the starter
disable module to AUTO. When the system is armed, the disable module turns
off the vehicle's starter.

Your vehicle will not start unless you disarm the system with the remote
transmitter. This prevents unauthorized persons from starting the vehicle.

If the alarm system is not working properly, you can set AUTO/BYPASS to
BYPASS so that the disable module no longer prevents you from starting the
vehicle.

ARMING THE SYSTEM

Arming the system sets the alarm to sound and activates the starter disable
module.

Before you attempt to arm the system, be sure it is turned on.

AUTOMATIC ARMING

Be sure your vehicle's ignition has been on for at least 6 seconds. Then,
turn off the ignition and step out of the vehicle. The system
automatically arms 30 seconds after you close all doors, the hood, and the
trunk.

If you open the hood, the trunk, or a door during the 30-second delay, the
system enters a stand-by mode. The status indicator's red and green lights
flash, and the system does not arm. After you close the hood, trunk, and
all the doors, the system restarts the 30-second delay period.

At the end of the 30-second delay period, the system arms.

If you use automatic arming, you have a 12-second entry delay during which
time the alarm will not sound.

REMOTE ARMING

The transmitter has a range of up to 120 feet. To arm the system from
outside the vehicle, press ARM on the transmitter. The status indicator's
red light turns on, the vehicle's parking lights blink once (if connected),
and the confirmation tone sounds if BEEP/SILENT is set to BEEP. The system
is armed.

If you use this method to arm the system, there is no entry delay.

DISARMING THE SYSTEM

The method for disarming the system depends on the method you used for
arming the system.

AFTER AUTOMATIC ARMING

If you open the trunk, hood, or a door after automatic arming, the system
begins a 12-second entry delay. During this delay, shut all doors, the
trunk, and the hood and disarm the system in either of two ways:

* Turn the ignition to the ON position.
this turns off the siren, but does not turn off the disable module. To
turn off the disable module so you can start the vehicle, you must turn
the ignition to OFF and press DISARM on the transmitter.

* Press DISARM on the transmitter with the ignition set to OFF.

AFTER REMOTE ARMING

If you armed the system with the remote transmitter, disarm it from outside
the vehicle by pressing DISARM on the transmitter. This disables the alarm
and turns off the starter disable module so that you can start the vehicle.
The green indicator lights, the vehicle's lights blink twice (if
connected), and the confirmation tone sounds if BEEP/SILENT is set to BEEP.

TRIGGERING THE ALARM

When someone triggers the alarm, the system sounds the siren, the pager, or
both.

* When automatically armed, if you open a door, the hood, or the trunk
after the 30-second delay period, the alarm sounds after a 12-second
   entry delay.

* If you open a door, the hood, or the trunk, when the system was remote
   armed, the alarm sounds instantly.

* If you press ARM and DISARM at the same time on the transmitter, the
siren sounds instantly, regardless of the SIREN/BOTH/ALERT switch's
   position.

* If the motion sensor detects vibrations, the alarm sounds after 12
seconds if the system was automatically armed or instantly if the system
   was remote armed.

The alarm sounds for 5 minutes or until you disarm the system. If you do
not disarm the system, the system rearms and the red indicator blinks
continuously, letting you know the alarm was activated.

Note: The pager can notify you of a violation.

SOUNDING THE PANIC ALARM

This feature lets you summon help in case of an emergency. To sound the
panic alarm, press ARM and DISARM on the remote transmitter at the same
time. The parking lights flash (if connected) and the siren sounds
immediately, regardless of the position of any of the controls.

Note: The panic alarm does not operate when the ignition is on.

LOCATING YOUR VEHICLE

You can locate your vehicle in a dark area using the remote arm/disarm
transmitter. The transmitter's range goes up to 120 feet.

When you press the ARM button, the parking lights blink once. When you
press the DISARM button, the parking lights blink twice. If you press and
hold down ARM or DISARM, the parking lights flash continuously while you
press down the button.
