Cellular Telephone

This setting affects how your phone operates when you travel away from the
area where you subscribe to cellular service. Using the phone in a city
where you do not subscribe to service is referred to as roaming.

Each cellular market area has two cellular service providers. One of the
providers is designated as Provider A and the other is designated as
Provider B. When you have your phone activated for service, find out
whether your provider is A or B in your area. Your phone is automatically
set to recognize the provider type as the preferred system (in other
words, if your provider is Provider B in your area, the phone selects B
as the preferred provider in all areas).

It is possible for the company you purchase your cellular service from
to Provider A in some cities and Provider B in other cities. In cities
where the company is not designated as the same provider type as your home
city, the company is nonpreferred.

It is usually less expensive to use the same company for cellular service
when you are in your home city and when you roam. To do this, you need to
know which provider your cellular service is designated as in your home
city and in each city your plan to roam to.

Having this information, set the cellular system type as follows:

Press "SEL", "GHI4". Then repeatedly press "SEL" to select one of the
following options:

"SYS" "SEL" "AUTO":

Set the phone to this setting when you are in your home city but
occasionally travel to areas within the city not serviced by your
preferred company. The phone will use the preferred system when it can,
and will use the non-preferred system at other times.

With this setting, it is possible for your to roam, even though you are
still in your home city, by using the non-preferred provider for calls.

"SYS" "SEL" "PREF":

Set the phone to this setting if you are roaming, and your home city
cellular service provider is designated as the same provider in the city
you have travelled to (for example, the company is assigned as Provider A
in both cities).

"SYS" "SEL" "NON-P":

Set the phone to this setting if your are roaming, and your home city
cellular service provider is designated as the opposite provider in the
city your have travelled to (for example, the company is assigned as
Provider A in your home city and Provider B in the city you have travelled
to).

"SYS" "SEL" "HOME"

Set the phone to this setting if you do not want the phone to roam. This
is the normal setting when you are in your home city.

If you spend a lot of time in two or more cities, you might want to
consider subscribing to service in each city, and having a separate local
telephone number for each city. If you do so, you can switch to different
telephone number when you travel to the other city, and keep the cellular
system type set to "SYS" "SEL" "HOME".
