EC-340 (650-0940) Power Faxback Doc. # 6811

You can power your data directory using an AC adapter. Use only the Radio
Shack Catalog Number 273-1454 6-volt adapter.

1. Plug the adapter's small barrel plug into the jack on the data
    directory.

2. Plug the adapter into an AC outlet.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Your data directory is powered from four AA alkaline batteries. For best
peformance and longest life, we recommend Radio Shack Catalog number
23-552. You can also power your data directory from an optional AC
adapter. See "Using An AC Adapter".

If the screen becomes dim, you need to replace the batteries.

Note: Your data directory has a permanently installed lithium battery
that protects memory whenever the batteries are removed or
       discharged.

This battery should last 5-10 years. If your data directory loses all
memory contents when you change the batteries, the lithium battery should
be replaced. Take your data directory to your local Radio Shack store for
this service procedure.

1. Remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Remove and discard old batteries, if necessary.

3. Install four AA batteries, following the polarity symbols (+ and -)
    marked in the compartment.

4. Replace the battery compartment cover.

If your data directory does not function after you replace the batteries,
try pressing [RESET] on the back of the display, using a straightened
paper clip. If this does not correct the problem, you might have to clear
all information from your directory. See "Resetting Your Data Directory".

To avoid serious damage caused by leaking batteries, replace batteries at
least once every year, regardless of how much you use your data directory.
