DMP-207  (260-2917)       Running Test Sheets          Faxback Doc. # 6690

There are several ways of testing your printer to confirm printing results.

     *  Self test

     *  Maintenance test

     *  Hex dump

To produce the test sheets, you will need to hold down one or more keys on
the control panel while you switch on power to the printer.

The self test provides assurance that the printer is working. It
indicates: 1) whether or not the printer is operating normally, 2) if the
ribbon and paper are installed correctly, and 3) proper adjustment of the
paper thickness lever.

To print the self test pattern, turn the printer power off. Then, while
holding the ON/OFF LINE key, turn on the printer.

Interrupt the test by pressing the ON/OFF LINE key once. This interrupts
the test print but does not actually stop it. If you wish to continue the
test, press ON/OFF LINE again. When you want to discontinue the test,
turn off the printer.

MAINTENANCE TEST

With this printout you will see an example of column alignment.

To print the maintenance text pattern, turn the printer power off. Then,
while holding both the ON/OFF LINE and the LF/FF keys, turn on the
printer.

Interrupt the test by pressing the ON/OFF LINE key once. This interrupts
the test print but does not actually stop it. If you wish to continue the
test, press ON/OFF LINE again. When you want to discontinue the test,
turn off the printer.

HEX DUMP

The hex dump is a useful tool for debugging programs. it shows the
hexadecimal values of the codes actually sent by your computer, printing
16 codes on each line. In addition, the character each code represents is
printed at the right side of the sheet. Control codes -- codes with
hexadecimal value less than 20 -- are shown as periods.

To enter hex dump mode, turn the printer power off. Then, while holding
the LOAD/PARK key, turn on the printer. Send data from your computer.

Exit hex dump printing by turning the printer off.
