Wireless Home Control (610-2610) Battery Faxback Doc. # 6549

REPLACING THE CONSOLE BATTERY

If you unplug the console and replace the battery, the console loses all
memory of the installed door/window sensors, motion detectors and remote
controls, and the voice message and stored numbers.

You then have to set the INSTALL/RUN 1/RUN 2 switch on the console to
INSTALL, re-cord your emergency message, re-program emergency numbers,
and then re-install all the door/window sensors motion detectors and
remote controls.

To avoid this, replace the 9V battery without unplugging the console.
You do not lose any stored codes and do not have to re-install your
system.

A 9V alkaline battery provides at least 12 hours of back-up. You should
replace the battery at least once a year.

REPLACING THE REMOTES' BATTERIES

If the console does not respond to a remote control's signal, replace the
battery/batteries in the remote control's battery compartment, following
the polarity (+ and -) indicated by the marking inside the compartment.

After you replace the remote control's battery/batteries, re-install
the remote control.

REPLACING THE DOOR/WINDOW SENSORS' BATTERIES

If any of the console's zone indicators flash slowly, the door/window
sensor or motion detector for that zone has not reported in during the
last 4 hours. This is most likely caused by a dead battery in the door/
window sensor or motion detector.

Replace the door/window sensor or motion detector's battery, and then
follow these steps to determine if the console still recognizes it.

1. Set the console to RUN 2.

2. Press TEST on the sensor or motion detector. If the console chimes,
it recognizes the sensor or motion detector, and no further action is
    necessary.

If you do not hear a chime when you press TEST:

1. Set the console to INSTALL.

2. Press TEST. The door/window sensor transmits a code to the console,
and the console beeps to confirm it accepted the code.

The door/window sensor normally logs into the SAME zone number as before
you replaced the battery. However, if you replaced the battery in the
door/window sensor when its zone light was NOT flashing (low battery
indicator), the door/window sensor is logged into the next available zone
(instead of the same zone as it was).

To avoid this, remove the sensor's old battery and wait at least 4 hours
before installing the new one. This ensures that the sensor is logged
into its original zone number.
