Fax Modem (250-3581) Using Script and Action Files Faxback Doc. # 5880

Script and Action files are simple programs written in BitCom's Script
language.

Script files, in addition to the commands used in Action files, can
contain commands that are used before BitCom makes a connection. Thus,
Script files can be used before you make a connection, where as Action
files can be used only after a connection has been made.

The File SCRIPT.TXT located on your program disk further explains how to
use BitCom's Script and Action Files and how to create your own.

LOGGING ON WITH AN ACTION FILE

After BitCom makes a connection, it can automatically start an Action
File. To use an Action file, enter it's file name in the Autolog field
of a phone record. Script and Action files are located in BitCom's
subdirectory. Script file names end with .SCP and Action files end
with .ACT.

The following examples show how to use the file CSNETON.ACT to log on the
CompuServe Network. The following instructions assume you have an account
with CompuServe.

1. Exit BitCom.

2. Open the CSNETON.ACT Action file with any test editor.

3. Replace the X's with your ID and the Y's with your password.

4. Save the file as a text-only or ASCII file with ACT extension.

5. Start BitCom and open the CompuServe phone record.

6. Add CSENTON in the Autolog File field.

7. Return to the Communications Selection Menu.

8. Select the CompuServe record and select the connect command.
