CORRECT AN ERROR In typewriter mode, the WP-101 stores all characters in the current line in the correction memory. You can erase individual characters, a word, or the entire line. Then you can type corrections as needed. Position the print head one space to the right of any character on this line that you want to erase. Press <X|. The print head backspaces and erases the character. Press and hold this key to erase more characters to the left of the print head. To delete the entire line, position the print head anywhere in the line. Press CODE + <X| (<X| LINE). To stop this function, press any key. The WP-101 will finish deleting the word it was deleting when you pressed the key; then, the delete function will end. After erasing the errors, type the corrections. Then, press END to quick- ly return the print head to the space immediately following the last charac- ter in the line. To correct characters outside the correction memory, see "Correct Manual- ly." Contact your local Radio Shack Computer Center or store for assistance before you lose the contents of the user dictionary. DICTIONARIES The WP-101 has two dictionaries for spell check--a 50,000-word main dic- tionary and a 100-word user dictionary. You can store any special words, terms, or names in the user dictionary. As you type text, you can use the dictionary function to display some suggested spellings of a word. Or, you can add a word to the user dictionary. Press CODE + D (DICT) while the cursor is on the word in question, or on the space immediately following the word. A window appears at the bottom of the screen. Select either operation--SUGGEST from Dictionary or ADD to Dictionary. a) Press 1 for suggested words. The window displays words that are similar in spelling to the word you selected. Press [down arrow] to display more words. ***NO SUGGESTION*** appears when the dictionary does not find a similar word. Press ALT + D (USR DICT) to return to the typewriter mode screen. If you found a word you want to use in place of your original word, delete the orig- inal word and type the new word. If the new word is too long to fit in the same space left by the original word, delete the entire line; then type the line again using the new word. b) Press 2 to add the word to the user dictionary. If User Dictionary is full appears, there is no more room to store the word in the user dictionary. Delete other words from the user dictionary to make room. See "Delete a Word from the User Dictionary." For example, the dictionary includes Dallas, Tokyo, CA, Cal., John, Smith, don't, and isn't. EJECT PAPER Press CODE + PAPER IN (PAPER OUT). The paper ejects immediately. The line of text disappears from the screen. FORMAT When you turn on your WP-101, it uses the preset page format settings. When you switch to typewriter mode, the current format in word processor mode becomes the format for typewriter mode. To change any of these settings, use the format function. See "Format" in the "Text Issues" section. HOT ZONE As the print head moves toward the end of a line, a beep sounds to warn you that the right margin is approaching. The area of a line between this beep and the right margin is called the hot zone. The default setting is eight spaces. If you want to change this setting, see "Format" in the "Text Issues" section. INSERT PAPER Place a sheet of paper behind the platen, using the paper guide for alignment. Lift the paper bail away from the platen and press PAPER IN. Then, re- turn the paper bail and the paper release control to their original posi- tions. LINE SPACING You can select line spacing from three options--one line (1/6"), on and a half lines (1/4"), or two lines (1/3"). MARGINS AND TABS When you turn on the WP-101, the default margins and a tab (shown by a short vertical line) appear on the ruler. If you changed the margin or tab settings in word processor mode, the new settings remain in effect when you change to typewriter mode. The default left margin is a Column 10 and the right margin is at Column 75. A tab is at Column 15. The ruler scale corresponds to the scale on the paper bail. You can find the margin and tab positions on paper by using these scales. If you want to change the margins or tabs, see "Set New Margin" or "Set Tab Stops." MICRO SPACE When filling out a form, you might need to type a character in a box. With whole spaces, it is often difficult to fit a single character within a small box. To move the print head to the right by only a fraction of a space - 1/16 space in pica (10 pitch) or 1/5 space in elite (12 pitch) - press CODE + SPACE BAR (MICRO SPACE). If you position the print head over a micro space before printing that line of text, the width of the cursor on the screen changes to represent the width of the micro space.
