DMP-310 (260-2876) Running A Self-Test Faxback Doc. # 4716

To check the printer's operation and print quality, we recommend you run
the printer's self-test before you connect it to your computer.

Follow these steps to run the self-test.

1. Load 8 1/2" wide paper in the paper cassette as described in "Using the
   Paper Cassette" under "Paper-Loading Options."

2. Set the POWER switch on the back of the printer to O (off).

3. Plug in the AC power cord.

4. You can run the self-test in draft mode or letter-quality mode, as
   described below:

* To print the test in draft mode, press and hold down VIEW FEED|LF/FF,
and set POWER to | (on). When the printer starts printing (after about 6
  seconds), release VIEW FEED|LF/FF.

* To print the test in letter-quality mode, press and hold down VIEW
FEED|LF/FF and ON LINE/OFF LINE, and set POWER to | (on). When the
printer starts printing (after about 6 seconds), release VIEW FEED|LF/FF
and ON LINE | OFF LINE.

To end the self-test, press ON LINE|OFF LINE or turn off the printer. The
self-test automatically stops when the paper cassette runs out of paper.
