LP 800 (260-2890) Driver Emulations Faxback Doc. # 4115

Most software lets you specify printing information. Special files, called
printer drivers, are provided with the software. A printer driver tells the
computer what information to send to the printer.

Follow the instructions for each application you use to configure the
application for the printer. See the user's manual for each application.

If you use software that lets you select any of the following printer
drivers, you can control most printing functions through the software:

HP Emulation:

   HP LaserJet III (PCL5)
   HP LaserJet IIP
   HP LaserJet Series II
   HP LaserJet Plus
   HP LaserJet

IBM Emulation:

   IBM Proprinter XL24e
   IBM Proprinter XL24
   IBM Proprinter XL
   IBM Proprinter

EPSON Emulation:

   EPSON FX-850
   EPSON FX-85
   EPSON FX-80+
   EPSON FX-80

An optional PostScript emulation cartridge (26-2891) lets you use software
designed for use with the PDL/NTX (Pageprinter Description Language) driver.

PDL Emulation:

   Apple LaserWriter II NT/NTX
   Apple LaserWriter Plus
   Generic PostScript

Editing your AUTOEXEC.BAT:

The printer's buffer holds information the printer has not yet printed.
When the buffer is full, the printer sends a busy signal to the computer.
This might cause some software to display an error message such as Printer
Not Ready.

To avoid this, we suggest you use your word processor or DOS text editor to
enter the following line in your computer's autoexec.bat file:

    mode lpt1:,,p
