Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 4001

* Always insert paper before operating the printer. Do not print past
  the edges of the paper.

* If you accidentally drop anything into the printer, turn off the
printer and carefully remove the object.

* When you turn off the printer, it loses all data stored in the buffer.
Keep this in mind as you do routine maintenance. Remember that togg-
ling the printer's power switch can cause the computer to operate
  erratically.

* Use only a lint-free cloth to clean the printer's surface. Do not use
solvents or harsh cleaning agents. You can use a mild detergent
solution or desk-top cleaner if you use it sparingly.

* Keep the printer dry. If you accidentally spill liquid on the printer,
turn it off immediately and wipe it dry. Do not turn the printer on
again until it is completely dry.

* When printouts are too light or too dark, check to see if you correctly
  set the print-head gap.

Care:

* Do not use solvents or alcohol when cleaning the cover.
* Keep the printer out of direct sunlight.
* Place the printer on a stable, flat surface to prevent excessive vibrat-
  ion during operation.
* Printing graphics places a heavier load on the print head than does
printing text or other characters. If you print graphics without pausing,
the print head could overheat. When printing graphics, pause printing for
at least a few minutes after printing about 50 lines. This allows the
print head to cool and prevents damage to the print head.

Service:

* It is recommended that your unit be professionally cleaned and inspected
yearly at your nearest Radio Shack Service Center.
