Data Memo "Diary" Mode

The Data Memo "Diary" Mode lets you store memos that are up to 381
characters long.

To enter the Data Memo "Diary" Mode, highlight the Data Memo "Diary" Mode
icon (ICON SYMBOL) on the main menu, then press EXE.

Creating a Data Memo

We'll create the following memo as an example:

Memo Name: HIKING TRIP
Memo Content: JOHN MARY BILL TED SUZY AND I WENT
              HIKING, I LOVED IT!

That's it; a short memo. Here's how it's done:

1. Enter the Data Memo "Diary" Mode from the main menu. "Item Name?"
    appears on the display.

2. Type: H I K I N G SPACE T R I P EXE. "Data?" appears on the display.

3. Type: J O H N SPACE M A R Y SPACE B I L L SHIFT
           LEFT ARROW T E D SPACE S U Z Y SPACE A N D SPACE I
           SHIFT LEFT ARROW W E N T SPACE H I K I N G ALPHA/
           NUM. ALPHA/NUM SPACE I SHIFT LEFT ARROW L O V E D
           SPACE IT FUNCTION

Then use UP ARROW to highlight "Symbols." Press EXE. Use
UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW, LEFT ARROW, and RIGHT ARROW to highlight
the exclamation point ("!"). Press EXE twice.

4. "Item Name?" will prompt you to type in the next data item.

Notes: If you attempt to store more data than there is room for, the
message, "Memory Full!" will appear on the display. If this
happens, press AC/ON to clear the message. Then delete
unnecessary data, and try entering the data again.

If you press AC/ON or C/CLR during data display, "Item Name?"
            will appear on the display.

If you press AC/ON while you are entering data, "Item Name?"
will appear on the display. If you press C/CLR while entering
data, the screen that requests "Item Name?" or "Data?" will
            reappear.

Automatic Sorting

Data is automatically sorted alphabetically by the initial letters entered
as the Memo Name.

Recalling Data

There are two ways to recall data:

    sequential search

    initial character search

To recall data using sequential search:

1. Enter the Data Memo "Diary" Mode.

2. Use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to search for the data you want. Holding
down UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW scrolls quickly.

3. If no data has been stored, "No Record!" will be displayed on the
    screen.

To recall data using initial character search:

1. Enter the Data Memo "Diary" Mode.

2. Type in up to 16 characters. They should be the initial characters of
the data item you wish to find. For example, to find the data item we
    entered at the beginning of this chapter, type: H I K I N G.

3. Press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to find either the first (DOWN ARROW) or
the last (UP ARROW) of the data items whose initial characters match
    those you typed in.

4. If the data you have specified can't be found, the message
"Not Found!" will appear on the display. To return the screen to the
way it was before you began the search, press LEFT or RIGHT ARROW.
You can edit your search data and try again.
