USING THE DISK UTILITY You should use the Disk Utility program to create master floppy disks (also called installation or distribution disks) for all the programs on your hard drive. The master disks will be necessary if you ever need to reconfigure or reinstall these programs. An Important Notice screen pops up each time you start WinMate to remind you that you should make master disks. If you do not want to make master disks, click Exit to ignore the Important Notice screen. If you choose to make master disks, the program gives you the opportunity to back up Windows or any other applications. The Disk Utility program can also be found in the Main group on the Windows Program Manager. When you finish making master disks for an application, you have the option to free some hard disk space by deleting that portion of the Disk Utility program, or to return to the Important Notice screen. From the Important Notice screen, you can make master disks for another application, or exit to WinMate. The screen continues to pop up each time you start WinMate until you use the Disk Utility and make master disks of each application. Whenever you finish using the Disk Utility a second Important Notice screen pops up. This screen gives you the opportunity to make backup disks of the WinMate program. Completing Basic Tasks On-Line help contains detailed information about using the Disk Utility. Some of the main tasks are covered in these topics: What are master disks? How do I make master disks? How do I quit the Disk Utility? (LB/all-09/29/94)
