Power Switching System (260-0203) Features Faxback Doc. # 2800

Tandy's Power Switching System is a versatile accessory, consolidating
all your power needs into one convenient switch. This 6-switch power
controller virtually places your entire computer system at your
fingertips. It is designed for use with all Tandy computer systems and
peripherals, and reduces the possibility of damage to your computer or
data loss that could result from power transients and power-line noise.
Its features include:

A swivel for your monitor

Protection from power spikes and line noise

Protection from static discharges

The attractive design makes the System an elegant accessory whether it is
used as a base for your monitor mounted on it, you can take advantage of
the System's swivel base for adjusting the viewing angle.

The Power Switching System minimizes transients and noise generated by
other electrical devices. If an appliance such as a refrigerator,
air-conditioner or hair dryer suddenly turns on, it may send a voltage
spike through the power line. Normally this could cause the computer or
its peripherals to operate abnormally (computer "freezes," content of
memory changes, disk drive turns on, etc.). By plugging your computer
into the System instead of directly into a source of 120V AC power, you
reduce the possibility of such occurrences.

The System also includes 3 independently filtered sections which reduce
the possibility of power-supply interactions between the computer and
peripherals connected to other sections. Soon you will discover just how
essential the Power Switching System is to your computer system.

CIRCUIT BREAKER. Protects against overcurrent conditions.

AC Cord. Plug into any 3-wire, grounded AC outlet.

SWIVEL Rotates the System when you want to adjust the viewing angle
  of the monitor.

Filtration

The Power Switching System consists of 3 independently filtered sections
which reduce the possibility of power-supply interaction between the
computer and peripherals connected in each section.

The unswitched outlet is not filtered, but it is transient protected.
You may want to use it for a clock, reading lamp, etc. that needs to be
on when the computer is off.

Notice that additional horizontal space is provided between the AUX1 and
AUX2 outlets on the rear panel for a connection such as an AC adapter
used with a modem, plotter, etc.
