TANDY 1000 TL/3 (250-1603) Battery Faxback Doc. # 1298

The real-time clock maintains the system time and date. An internal
battery powers the clock, enabling it to maintain the correct time and
date when the computer power is turned off. Replacement batteries are
available at Radio Shack Stores.

Replacing the Battery:

Note: Refer to Faxback Doc. # 1248 for Main Logic Board Layout.

The clock battery should last at least three years with normal use. When
it fails, the computer will not retain time and date information correctly.
If the computer does not restart when turned on or is reset, it could
indicate that the battery is weak or dead. If you do not want to replace
the battery yourself, a service technician at a Radio Shack Service Center
will replace it for you.

To replace the battery:

1. Gently lift the battery clip and remove the old battery from the socket on
   the Main Logic Board.

2. Position the new battery with the positive side (+) up and insert it into
   position.

3. Use the SETUPTL3 Utility to enter and store the system date and time.

Note1: Refer to Faxback Doc. #1243 for using the SETUPTL3 Utility.

Note2: The part number for the replacement battery is, Part# CR2032 under
       Catalog# 250-1603
