1400 FD (250-3501) Monitor options Faxback Doc. # 1076

You can use the built-in LCD, or you can connect an external RGB color
monitor to the computer.

Using the LCD:

The Tandy 1400 FD display is a 25-line by 80 column dot matrix LCD, capable
of emulating IBM standard CGA graphics.

When you use the LCD, adjust the display until it is at a comfortable
viewing angle. The display stays at the angle you select. To adjust the con-
trast, use the contrast dial on the right side of the unit. To assure a
clear image, your work area must have adequate lighting.

Operating or storing the system unit in high temperatures or in a
high-humidity environment for a long time shortens the life of the display.
If the display ever becomes too faint to read, take the unit to your local
Radio Shack service center for replacement of the backlight.

Color Monitor:

To use an RGB color monitor, connect its cable to the 9-pin D-Sub female
connector inside the connector compartment on the rear of the system.
Fasten the cable with screws. Connect the monitor's power cord to an AC
power source. Turn on the monitor.

Selecting a Display Device:

You can specify to the 1400 FD the type of display you are using
(internal LCD or external color monitor) in the following two ways:

Press <CTRL><ALT><F12> if you powered up using a color monitor as the default

the color monitor.
