2022-06-03: Treating Bullet Wounds                           rak
================================================================

Treating bullet wounds is such a hot and important research
topic that researchers specialize in very narrow aspects of
bullet wound treatment. Some of us study how to reconstruct
tissue lacerated by bullet fragments, while others develop tools
for bullet fragment extraction. There are quarterly conferences
dedicated to healing shattered metatarsal bones. Meanwhile, toe
hair follicle transplant specialists complain that their work
has been neglected by funding agencies and the broader research
community ever since toe hair went out of fashion in the 1970s.

Of course, the question nobody asks (lest we become unemployed)
is: Wouldn't we all be better off if we just stopped shooting
ourselves in the foot?
