Colorado Church Was Prepared For Shooting: ...Pastor Brady Boyd of New
Life Church shared on Fox News that they had an emergency plan that
included a lock down, uniformed and undercover security personnel,
volunteers at-the-ready, and more...Mary Marr , CEN's founder and
chairman, states, "New Life Church was one of the first churches that
took the call to create plans for emergencies seriously back at the
start of CEN after the fall of the Twin Towers. They saw the sense of
being prepared with plans and training, and continue to view crises as
potential opportunities to serve up the gospel message amidst these
types of event(s)."

Gunman Died Of Self-Inflicted Wound: ...Matthew J. Murray, the
24-year-old attacker, was shot multiple times by volunteer security
worker Jeanne Assam moments after he stormed the New Life Church in
Colorado Springs. But the bullet that killed him came from his own
firearm. After being hit, Murray committed suicide by shooting himself
in the head, the El Paso County coroner's office ruled yesterday.
(Handgun rounds may not always offer immediate incapacitation but they
appear to have diverted this assailant from shooting others to shooting
himself.)

The Salt Lake Tribune Opposes Open Carry On Campus: Utah law allows
students with concealed-carry permits to pack handguns on state-owned
college campuses. Some of those students are pushing that envelope,
arguing that the University of Utah cannot prohibit them from carrying
loaded firearms in plain view. The university is pushing back, and for
good reason...The U. should stick to its guns. No open carry on campus,
with the exception of peace officers and ROTC students in uniform.

Just A Safety Reminder: A visitor at American Backyard Forums has posted
a photo of a case he found at a shooting range. It appears to be a .40
S&W case that was fired in a .45 ACP pistol. Thankfully, it did not
rupture. (A list member shared with me a 9x19mm case fired by one of his
students in a .357 SIG pistol - that one has a partial split, limited to
the bulged section.)

Iraq To Disarm Female Police Officers: The Iraqi government has ordered
all policewomen to hand in their guns for redistribution to men or face
having their pay withheld, thwarting a U.S. initiative to bring women
into the nation's police force. The Interior Ministry, which oversees
the police, issued the order late last month, according to ministry
documents, U.S. officials and several of the women. It affects all
officers who have earned the title "policewoman" by graduating from the
police academy. It does not apply to men in the same type of jobs.
