Bearing Arms: If the average person today wonders about his relationship
to his government, the Second Amendment provides ample guidance. It
represents the ideal of American political and social life: the
individual, self-governing, self-motivated, self-respecting, dignified,
free citizen - who takes these virtues so seriously that he will
maintain the personal power to back them up.

Poll - Should Students With Permits Carry Guns On Campus?: In the wake
of this year's shooting rampage at Virginia Tech, some are asking
whether having expanded rights to carry weapons would have prevented the
tragedy. Virginia law currently dictates that individual colleges and
universities are the ones that decide whether students can carry
concealed weapons on campus. As the Associated Press recently reported,
there's a new push to prevent colleges and universities from prohibiting
students from arming themselves.

Bill Would Allow Carry In National Parks: Congressman Ron Paul's bill,
HR1897, will allow law-abiding gun owners to be able to carry a handgun
for self-defense in a national park. The U.S. Constitution is very clear
that the federal government (including bureaucrats and politicians) has
no authority to deprive Americans of the right to keep and bear arms,
even in national parks.

Omaha Housing Authority To Ban Guns: Residents of Omaha Housing
Authority properties will not be allowed to have guns - even if they own
them legally - in their homes under a new policy due to take effect in
October. The state's largest provider of public housing adopted the new
rule in June. It followed the passage of a separate rule in April that
prohibits anyone other than sanctioned OHA employees or police officers
from carrying concealed weapons in shared spaces such as lobbies and
elevators or OHA offices..."We're always looking for ways to improve
safety," Timm said.

Arizona City Complies With Gun-Storage Law: Gun-toters will find it more
convenient to do business at Peoria City Hall. The city recently
installed 20 gun lockers throughout the municipal-complex grounds. The
$27,000 cost includes placing lockers at all fire stations. Lock boxes
will be installed at the Development and Community Services building
after it is completed this year. (Many cities and counties have ignored
the requirement to provide on-site storage if they opt to ban weapons in
their facilities.)

Rule Three, Rule Four Reminder: An unarmed security officer in Florida
resisted an attempted robbery by two men. An additional accomplice
rushed in from the rear, gun in hand, and shot his own partner in the
eye. (Rule Three: Keep your finger out of the trigger guard, up on the
frame, until your sights are on the target and you're prepared to fire.
Rule Four: Always be sure of your target and what's beyond it.)

Arizona Town Gets Gun Shop: "Everyone who walks in my front door is my
new best friend until you make it otherwise." That's what David
Greenberg, the owner of the new gun store in the San Jose District of
Bisbee, tells customers who come through the door.
The Second Amendment Family GunShop on Highway 92 has seen a steady
stream of customers since opening July 3, after months of renovations to
meet strict standards of security required by the Department of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

Gun-Shop Manager Charged For Off-Premises Sales: Police have charged the
manager of a Virginia Beach gun shop with stealing guns from the store
and selling them on the streets... In a police interview, McCall claims
he purchased the weapons from the store, but could not explain why the
weapons were not logged into inventory or why there was no record of him
ever paying for the weapons.
