South Carolina Democrats Oppose CCW Reciprocity Reform: House Democrats
are expected to launch a battle today against a House bill they fear
could make South Carolina a considerably more dangerous place to live by
relaxing the state's concealed weapons law...If passed, the measure
would let anyone with a permit to carry a gun in another state carry one
here with no further approval required. (Of course, residents of
Michigan, Indiana, Arizona and Utah, among others, quake in fear because
their states recognize all valid permits from other jurisdictions.)

VCDL Takes Gun Roust To City Council: The Virginia Citizens Defense
League actually brought more than 100 activists to a meeting of the
Manassas city council to protest police harassment of a group of diners
at a local restaurant, who were complying with state law by carrying
their firearms exposed in a restaurant that serves alcohol. An
internal-affairs investigation of the incident is in progress.

North Carolina Considers Ammunition Permit: Gun owners looking to reload
would have to show a permit every time they buy ammunition, if a bill
backed by Durham officials gains state approval. The proposal championed
by the Rev. Melvin Whitley, a local community activist, will face
opposition from gun-rights groups. Requiring a permit to buy bullets,
just as the state does for firearms, is a "no-brainer," he said.

Arizona City Approves Sale Of Seized Firearms: The Apache Junction City
Council unanimously approved Feb. 20 a gun ordinance making it one of
seven Arizona cities and police agencies to sell seized firearms. The
new ordinance, which closely mirrors Mesa's city ordinance, would resell
most firearms to licensed gun dealers. Those valued at less than $100
will be destroyed...A heated debate erupted after Apache Junction Police
Chief Glen Walp directed the melting of more than 1,200 seized weapons
stockpiled at police headquarters since the 1980s.

Arizona Anti-Confiscation Bill Goes To Governor: The governor of Arizona
could not take over residents' weapons during a war emergency, according
to a bill that advanced easily in the House Tuesday. Lawmakers made an
exception for large caches of ammunition, an allowance that should
ensure that the gun bill wins Gov. Janet Napolitano's signature. (See
AzCDL alert, below.)

 From The Firearms Coalition:

Please reply to feedback at FirearmsCoalition.org (using appropriate
email format).

Sarah Brady is sending supporters a link to an on-line survey asking
them (as a faithful friends) to answer the questions and help guide the
Brady Campaign in their dealings with Congress and state legislatures.

Being a democratic guy, I feel compelled to share this with others
concerned about the gun control issue so the Brady's get a very clear
picture of just what the public really thinks about their issues.

Just like the surveys often sent out by pro-gun groups this survey is
more about fundraising than actually seeking anyones opinion. Please
answer the survey and consider following through on their fundraising
appeal by writing a check to your favorite gun rights group. We at the
Firearms Coalition would be very proud to receive donations in honor of
Sarah Brady.

Follow this link and answer Sarah Brady's survey:

The "Name", "Address", and "Email" request at the top can be left blank.

If you enter an e-mail address, they might put you on their mailing list
so you can keep tabs on their activities.

Please pass this on and post it wherever you can. I'm not sure Sarah's
servers can handle the traffic we can generate!

Yours for the Second Amendment

SB 1302, which makes it clear that the legislature intended to apply the
2006 "Castle Doctrine/Burden of Proof" legislation to all cases pending
at the time it was signed, was transmitted to the governor on February
27, 2007.

SB 1302 passed both the House and the Senate with the 2/3 majority
needed to enact it as an emergency measure. Information on this and
other bills can be found at the AzCDL website:
http://www.azcdl.org/html/legislation.html

Now is the time to contact Governor Napolitano and urge her to sign SB
1302.

Below is a sample letter you can use. If you go to the Governor's
website http://azgovernor.gov/Contact.asp you will find a
fill-in-the-blanks form to register your opinion. For "subject", scroll
down and select "Legislation." For "topic", fill in - SB 1302. You can
then cut-and-paste the message below in the "message/comment" area.

Governor Napolitano:

The Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL) has informed me that SB 1302
has been sent to you for consideration. I urge you to sign this
important legislation into law.

SB 1302 clarifies that the Castle Doctrine bill that restored "innocent
until proven guilty" was intended to apply to all court cases pending
when you signed it on April 24, 2006. There has since been uneven
application of the law, with defendants prosecuted under different
standards at the whim of the courts.

Again, I ask that you please sign SB 1302 into law.

Sincerely,

Your Name
Street Address
City, AZ zip-code

You can also fax a letter to her using this number: 602-542-1381, or you
can mail it to her at the following address:
