Election 2024: Idaho polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time for in-person voting • Idaho Capital Sun [1] ['Clark Corbin', 'Kyle Pfannenstiel', 'More From Author', '- November', '.Wp-Block-Co-Authors-Plus-Coauthors.Is-Layout-Flow', 'Class', 'Wp-Block-Co-Authors-Plus', 'Display Inline', '.Wp-Block-Co-Authors-Plus-Avatar', 'Where Img'] Date: 2024-11-05 Polls will be open across Idaho from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time today for in-person voting in the 2024 general election. Idahoans can visit the Idaho Secretary of State’s Offices website voteIdaho.gov to find the location of their polling place, look up their sample ballot, verify they are registered to vote and find out which congressional and legislative districts they live in. Idaho offers same-day voter registration at the polls on Election Day. To register to vote at the polls, voters will need a current photo ID and proof of residence. For voters who still have not returned their absentee ballot, absentee ballots must be received by the local county elections office by time polls close at 8 p.m. local time. It is too late to mail in absentee ballots and have them arrive in time, the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office said. The 2024 election will go a long way to shaping government and policy for years to come. The presidential election, congressional races, Idaho legislative races, a proposed amendment to the Idaho Constitution, the Proposition 1 ballot initiative and county offices such as sheriff and commissioner will be on the ballot – depending on where voters live. After all polls in North Idaho have closed (which is 8 p.m. Pacific time), elections officials will begin posting unofficial results to voteIdaho.gov, the Idaho Capital Sun previously reported. Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane said it could take until Wednesday to learn the outcomes of the closest legislative races or a close statewide issue like Proposition 1. McGrane and other elected officials are expecting a huge voter turnout in Idaho. As of Monday afternoon, more than 380,000 Idahoans have already voted through early in-person voting or absentee voting. Idaho has just over 1 million registered voters, so voter turnout for the 2024 general election has already exceeded 35% even before Election Day itself.
