Help identifying license plate from hit and run in LA, CA
My first post here…
My boss lives in Los Angeles, CA and was rear ended last week and needs
help identifying the plate of this vehicle. Can you please help? He’s a
great boss!

|The last three are certainly 691. If you enlarge it you can clearly see
|the curvature to the parts that some think are a K. What is the format
|of plates in that area? Are there definitely three letters and three
|numbers, does anyone know? In OP's second dropbox link, if you use
|their drop down on a full size computer screen and put it at 100%, it
|almost looks like four letters and then 691. Possibly something like
|BRCK (BECK691?) 691 or something. The first one or maybe two look like
|B/R/P type letters, with a line on the left and bumps on the right. But
|there's a big swoop like for a C after those first two, and it still
|looks like an angular letter before the 691 on that photo I think.
|Does CA have a public database of plates and the car type that goes
|iwth the plate like some states do? EDIT : "California license
|plates for passenger vehicles have the following format: one number,
|three letters, and three numbers. The sequence starts with 1AAA000 and
|proceeds sequentially. For example, the plate after "3XYZ891" is
|"3XYZ892"." That being the case, I think it is likely the first digit
|is a 3 (especially looking again at the dropbox images enlarged) since
|many are seeing a "B". So it would be 3XXX691 edit 2- I'm wrong, it
|is VERY LIKELY to be an 8 in the first position - "Back to our
|California example—a 1998 Lexus GS400 should have a 4-plate. If the car
|was traded into a dealership around 2017-present, the new plate will be
|an 8-plate. So instead of 4AAA000, it will be 8AAA000." "1980-1994:
|1-plate, 2-plate, 3-plate (you won’t see these often) 1995-2002:
|4-plate 2003-2013: Early 5-plate, mostly 6-plate 2014-2016: 7-plate
|2017-present: 8-plate All you have to do is see if the era of your car
|and plate match up, and you get to add one more little piece of the
|puzzle to your car’s ownership history."

|Those don't look like CA plates. I don't think they come in yellow.

|on the second drop box link if you change the percent to 100 in the
|drop down box, you can see that the plate is white but it has a
|yellow cover over it that doesn't cover the entire thing, and the
|length of the state name that is up top in red cursive seems to
|indicate California. I'm sure there are other states that have
|their name up top in red cursive with that characteristic CA slant
|and white license plates, but I think the simplest explanation is
|that this is a CA plate with that yellow cover over it that you can
|see in image two. https://imgur.com/a/nrfRulP

|BPT\_691 is what I see after some blur reduction. The 691 is clear.
|The BPT remains a bit fuzzy. There might be a middle character where I
|show the underline, but the software does not improve the image at this
|location.

|I think it is BPJ691

|Certainly possible!

|It is a New Mexico license plate with the Aztec symbol in the center
|before the 691.

|Looks like a New Mexico License plate. Yellow with red letters.

|That's what I was thinking.

|I’m seeing JK91 for the last four digits, could also be TK91. The first
|two digits look like different forms of BR, 8P, BP, etc. Looks like a
|Honda Accord 6th gen 2002-2006.

|"22TK91" is what I got from u/januaryrmberr
