|Russia is running a 2 pronged operation before negotiations try and take
|place. * Take back all Russian territory before negotiations. To lose
|territory during negotiations will be seen as weak to the Russian people
|and the "Other guy" coming out on top. * Insert as many spies and moles
|in Ukrainian Military and government to sow discontent and shake faith
|in Ukrainian institutions. Ukraine must stay very vigilant and not
|negotiate for anything less than all Ukrainian territory being returned.

    |fantastic. Also the author is wanted in Russia. So he's a good one

  |
  |Returning Russian territory will be part of the negotiation. Ukraine
  |won't be allowed to hold it.

    |u/OnlyLosersBlock - 9 hours

    |And they can have it back in exchange for all of Ukraines occupied

      |i think if negotiations go that far, the talking point could
      |actually be whether ukraine gets crimea back or not, then ukraine
      |will have a tough choice.

          |necessarily. That's where they start. If both sides could

          |Ukraine doesn't have any leverage here. Their only choice is
          |to give up and accept a deal (assuming Russia even agrees) or
          |continue fighting without US support.

              |Look at the map, at the size of it. It’s nothing compared
              |to what Putin took from Ukraine.

            |u/Carasind - 1 hour
            |
            |You’re underestimating how much leverage Ukraine actually
            |has. The withdrawal of U.S. aid wouldn’t end the war—it
            |would simply mean Ukraine gets less help but is also no
            |longer bound by the U.S. rule book. This could pave the way
            |for strikes on previously off-limits targets, potentially
            |causing significant disruptions to global markets and
            |increasing pressure on all parties. Good luck to Trump
            |explaining to his voters why gas prices suddenly exploded
            |when he became president. Moreover, there’s no realistic
            |deal Ukraine can accept without reliable security guarantees
            |(which are highly unlikely under Trump) or a nuclear
            |deterrent. Without either, any agreement is worthless and
            |doomed to fail.

  |Sort of. You should capture the agent, interrogate them for humint
  |like their contacts and pass codes, whatever you might need to keep
  |the communication channels open. Once you can verify you can maintain
  |the contacts without the contacts realizing that they have been
  |compromised, you quietly execute the traitor and make recordings of it
  |(without time stamps). Then, you use your contacts to feed them fake
  |and bad intel — some very secret “signature” unique intel, so if
  |anyone on your side starts circulating it, you can expose more moles.
  |Either you dont have more moles to expose, or you keep the enemy
  |running around chasing their tails or falling into lethal traps. Once
  |your opposition figures out that their asset was compromised, come out
  |publicly and expose them and reveal the execution footage — this is to
  |deter other would be traitors from betraying their country. This kinda
  |plotting is easy peasy 4D chess.

          |And culturally. Most people on Reddit write like they could
          |be American and native speakers (maybe especially the ones
          |that say, "Please excuse my post as English isn't my first

          |self-selecting and if you're on Reddit and writing in English,
          |you're absorbing and reinforcing your learning, but I still
          |get taken aback sometimes when I follow threads and people
          |just offhandedly mention that they're Norwegian or Ukrainian

|all of you who take side with zelensky thus supporting military
|conscription are supporters of draconian era slavery laws. No one
|deserves to be forced to serve in military no matter whatever is the so
|called emergency is and this military conscription law was removed in
|ukraine only to be signed back in again by evil actor zelensky. Even
|russia does not do this , they have alternative service for men who dont
|want to fight in war. but ukraine men aged 18 and above got no choice.

  |u/Afronerd - 5 hours
  |
  |Conscription is bad but it's Russia's fault still. If Ukraine wasn't
  |facing an existential threat then there would be no conscription
  |necessary. If you think Russia is the less evil of the two then you
  |can fuck right off. This war was 100% unnecessary for Russia so all of
  |the death and suffering is because of Putin's choice.

    |u/carlcjon - 4 hours
    |
    |i am not saying whose fault is it, i am just saying ukraine men
    |should have had the choice to just not fight if they did not want
    |to. forcing someone fight in a war for a so called national security
    |seems like justifying human slavery. After all its some politicians
    |and lawmakers deciding on life choices of the ukraine men. nah hard
    |pass justifying any of them be it russia or ukraine, neither putin
    |or zelensky ever going to go to jail for their wrongdoings, does not
    |really matter who we all think is at fault, it unsubstantial in
    |reality

      |u/Afronerd - 3 hours
      |
      |Conscription is bad, but Ukraine isn't the only country with a
      |draft/conscription during times of war. It's just that most
      |countries aren't being invaded at the moment.

        |u/carlcjon - 3 hours
        |
        |i believe any form of human slavery is bad and can not be
        |justified. we are debating over human slavery just giving it a
        |name like military conscription does not change what it is.

          |u/Afronerd - 3 hours
          |
          |You're not going to get me to defend conscription because I
          |don't like it either. Ukraine is in a desperate situation and
          |it is one of MANY countries with a war-time draft. Ukraine
          |isn't some unique evil country for conscripting soldiers,
          |that's about par for the course for a country being invaded.
          |Conscripted soldiers being forced to fight and getting harmed
          |as a result is Russia's fault because Putin is an evil
          |dickhead.

            |u/carlcjon - 3 hours
            |
            |> MANY countries with a war-time draft war-time draft is an
            |evil practice turned into law in many countries and putin is
            |evil yes zelensky is evil too since ukraine abolished the
            |war-time draft law but then zelensky signed it as law again
            |after an year when he knew the war would need more men than
            |are willing to fight voluntarily. How is that not evil too?

              |u/SendStoreMeloner - 2 hours
              |
              |Because it is necessary to defend the country and family.

                |Russia should have never been given so much time to keep

  |Some people cannot justify to go to war even to defend your family and
  |country to their family without there is a law that tells them they
  |have to. It's not draconian to defend your country by duty and law.
  |>Even russia does not do this Loads of stories of Russians who are
