|Lived in VT for a while and saw him out and about shopping. Just Bernie
|and his wife no body guards. I was in a group of VT business people at
|an ESOP conference in DC and Bernie was the only one of our legislators
|who took time to meet with us. He literally stopped a staff meeting and
|invited us into his office. Before we left he had engaged everyone
|including me, directly asking my opinion on a subject. He is a very
|unique politician and HB. .

  |u/Limp_Day1216 - 16 hours
  |
  |He is the epitome of what most Americans want their legislators to act
  |like. The one kids think they learn about in school.

    |u/Fuck_the_flyers - 14 hours
    |
    |Turns out most Americans want the exact opposite.

      |u/exoduas - 14 hours
      |
      |They don’t. Bernie would have won against trump in 2016. He was/is
      |popular with both democrats and republicans.

        |I went over to the ine of the subreddits about conspiracies (big
        |mistake) and a lot of comments were about how people voted for
        |Trump in 2016 because Bernie was not the democratic nominee. To
        |me it’s crazy to think one can like Bernie and Trump at the same
        |time.

          |They both are populists and talking about changing things up.
          |Many Americans are tired of hearing the same shit.

            |u/Tax_n1 - 4 hours
            |
            |Is Bernie really a populist tho? Unlike Trump, he never got
            |the chance to prove if he would have followed up with his
            |promises and still today he stands after his values as far
            |as i can tell. He is not a populist in my book.

              |Populism: A political approach that strives to appeal to
              |ordinary people who feel that their concerns
              |are disregarded by established elite groups. He is a

          |my ex’s stepmom would’ve voted for Bernie over Trump, but

          |I worked with more than a few of those folks in 2016. When
          |Bernie didn't get the nod, they jumped on the Trump train and
          |turned off the news so they didn't have to hear anything they
          |didn't like. "Some men and women aren't looking for money.
          |They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with.

            |
            |What the hell does that even mean? "Big personalities"?
            |These are elected officials, not movie stars. You're
            |supposed to judge them based on their policy platform.

              |u/86886892 - 9 hours
              |
              |How many people do you really think sit down and examine
              |the policies of politicians? The vast majority of people
              |that vote for a president do not do it based off of
              |policy, or policy is one small factor.

                  |I mean, they make up the bulk of the population. Did
                  |people vote for Obama because of his policies or

          |He was easily more popular with the average person then

  |I was in an outdoor mall in Los Angeles a couple years ago. We were
  |running around hectically trying to make some last-minute purchases
  |for my sister’s wedding. And look up, and Bernie Sanders is walking
  |straight towards us. He had two security guards. I tried to get my
  |spouse’s attention. She was buried in the phone desperately trying to
  |find a pair of shoes. And almost ran straight into him

  |u/Whompa02 - 11 hours

  |bottom 90% of earners to the top
  |1%.](https://time.com/5888024/50-trillion-income-inequality-america/)
  |Thats 50,000 billion. Or 50 million million. But yea, it’s the
  |immigrant or trans person thats ruining your life/s

    |u/ForsakenJelly6104 - 2 hours
    |
    |Currently 350,000 Migrants per month are flooding into the United
    |states most of which totally illegal and unaccounted for. But trying
    |to get the impossible done is easier, having the Top legal rightful
    |earners give money down to the lowest earners?

      |u/antigop2020 - 2 hours
      |
      |1) The illegal immigration problem was addressed by a bipartisan
      |border bill earlier this year that would’ve been the strictest in
      |US history. Instead of supporting it, Trump told Republicans to
      |torpedo the bill because he wanted to make it an election issue.
      |2) Donald Trump was president for 4 years, two of which he had
      |complete control of the Senate and House. He did nothing to stop
      |the illegal immigration problem. His “wall” that he said Mexico
      |would pay for was a joke. And Mexico didn’t pay .01 for it. He
      |will do nothing of substance again. 3) What billionaires “earn”
      |is quite subjective. Why do they pay a lower effective tax rate
      |than most Americans? Was that lower rate “earned?” No. They rigged
      |the system so capital gains are taxed lower than income. That’s
      |ridiculous. It’s time to raise the top tax tier to 49% and
      |institute a wealth tax ranging from .25%-2% per year, depending on
      |net worth.

        |Free market capitalism doesn't exist, dude. It can't, because
        |when it did, we had robber barons and things were terrible. Our

    |How old are you? Hopefully just a misinformed teen, because if you

        |u/spetcnaz - 14 hours
        |
        |So it's very sad then. As a grown adult you don't even
        |understand how the healthcare system works. What happens when
        |you're unemployed or disabled, or not employed enough? Do you
        |like paying copays and have the ability of a third party, your
        |insurance, to tell your doctor what treatment you should or
        |should not get? Are you aware that because of this system
        |43,000 Americans die every year? Or are you an asshole who
        |lives in his own bubble, and thinks that as long as you, at this
        |exact moment are ok, then anything and anyone else doesn't
        |matter?

          |anything and anyone else doesn't matter? Ooh, ooh! It's this
          |one!!

        |u/iwishtoruleyou - 15 hours
        |
        |So you think the practice of varied costs (I.e.; everyone pays
        |completely different amounts for the EXACT SAME drugs,
        |surgeries, treatments, etc) based on insurance is a good one,
        |yea? Yk they charge PPO double or more the cost of state-funded
        |insurance just bc they figure you have PPO you can AFFORD to pay
        |the difference? Just curious fr if people are aware of this or
        |not bc it’s an INSANE practice to me (ironically INSURANCE came
        |up when I swiped “INSANE” 😅) If you do know about that what’s
        |your thoughts on it? Don’t you think PPO should pay the same as
        |a like idk Medicaid patients insurance if it’s the exact same
        |evil or whatever? Like I just want there to be accountability in
        |the medical billing department 😅

    |Go read the definition of communism. Then, find where Bernie has
    |defended anything like what you read in that definition. You
    |won't, because he hasn't. Bernie advocates for policies that are
    |already in place in other first world capitalist, social democracies
    |in Europe. Your ignorance is why we can't make lives better for
    |people in North america. You think what billionaires want you to
    |think, and you do so uncritically.

|I love Bernie so much. He's the definition of consistency. He's one of a
|kind though. Don't know AOC well but I hope she carries the torch that
|Bernie has carried all these years in American politics all by himself.
|He's a one man force. A truly incorruptible, unstoppable force.

|Bernie sanders changed my life. I met my best friend in the entire world
|bc of him (she passed away since but I wouldn’t trade those years for
|ANYTHING). I wrote “Bernie is on fire” (girl on fire parody) which
|honestly was a fkn anthem for me and my community building efforts for
|YEARS after. He was the reason I moved to Nebraska (to host Bernanza)
|and ultimately how I ended up in Colorado where I had some of my
|happiest years. My life would have been SO SHITTY without the goodness
|this man unknowingly sprinkled into my life all these years 🥹🥹😭😭😭😭 I’m
|always defeated feeling every presidential election year because of how
|much he wanted to help the people and hotter much the system prevented
|it 😭 I love you Bernie Sanders, my next child WILL be named after you 🩵

  |In 1981you shot on film, and B&W was cheap and easy to process and
  |print yourself in a jury-rigged bathroom darkroom. Artists used it.
  |Color film cost more and then you generally wound up paying a lab to
  |process and print, and that was expensive.
