|You can increase the cache size. You need to find out how much free ram
|you have. Then divide by 3 and leave a little wiggle room. I have my 4k
|max v1 set to 192mb Also can increase the read ahead I have mines set
|to 10x This should help. But 90gb is a heavy demand on a relatively low
|powered device.

  |u/gapgod2001 - 1 day
  |
  |i found lowering read factor to 2x provides higher consistent fps, but
  |depends on device.

    |u/livyuk - 19 hours
    |
    |Yeah. A slower read ahead should lower CPu usage

|Which version of kodi are you using and whats your internet speed?

  |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 23 hours
  |
  |Kodi 21.1 and internet speed connected is 450

    |u/Sea_Attorney_9894 - 23 hours
    |
    |Try downgrading nexus 20.5 worked well for me

      |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 23 hours
      |
      |Why would you downgrade Kodi?

        |u/Sea_Attorney_9894 - 23 hours
        |
        |I had a few buffering issues with movies with very high bit
        |rates(80-100) so I tried downgrading for some reason it worked
        |very well for me.

|u/donutmiddles - 1 day
|
|Increase your memory size to 512 MB and set your read factor to
|Adaptive.

  |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 1 day
  |
  |What about the chunk size?

    |u/donutmiddles - 1 day
    |
    |You can keep that at the default 128 KB.

|Firestick is going to be problematic for files of this size. Invest in
|a cube or shield or something.

  |u/gapgod2001 - 1 day
  |
  |i use a firestick 4k and have absolutely no problem playing 100gb+
  |remuxes with lossless audio

  |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 1 day
  |
  |I want to upgrade to the shield but I’m patiently waiting for the 2nd
  |one to come out, the tv cube I have to look how fast the Ethernet port
  |is, I’m running a wired connection now via an otg cable and gigabit
  |dongle

    |u/mouthtalk - 1 day
    |
    |I hate to say it but I don’t think it’ll happen. I bounced around
    |all the newer devices myself like the fire sticks/cubes, Google
    |devices, Onn, etc. and they all had weird issues like buffering,
    |stuttering, certain formats not playing, etc. Landed back on the
    |shield and everything works.

      |u/ruthasacre - 1 day
      |
      |My shield used to play these files smoothly but not for many
      |months anymore. Every large file eventually glitches or drops
      |sound for a few seconds. I have a feeling it happened in the last
      |Android Update. Are you on Android 11 on the Shield too?

        |u/TVshop004 - 1 day
        |
        |I used to have stutters before too on my 2019 pro. I had to
        |downgrade to os 8.2.3. I also "match the frame rate before
        |stop/start" in kodi-settings. Now i dont have any stutters at
        |all. Or any other bugs that came with the latest os for me. You
        |could try the match framerate first, if that setting is enough

          |
          |Thanks, I checked and if you mean the setting in Player >
          |Videos > Adjust display refresh rate, I have that set to "On
          |Start/stop. Is there another setting for matching frame rate
          |somewhere? I don't have a PC available here so that's my main
          |obstacle to downgrading the Shield. Apparently it's necessary.
          |Never had luck with Virtual boxes in the past for that kind of
          |thing.

              |Thanks for these! I have almost all those settings
              |configured properly, I just checked the others and tweaked
              |a couple. The main thing is I really want to downgrade for
              |better performance in general. I just don't have the
              |necessary PC to do it, just a shitty old macbook pro.

                |
                |Aha, dont know how poor you are. But i bought a refurbed
                |"HP EliteDesk 800 G3 DM" for like $100, for cases like
                |these when i need a pc

                  |
                  |Good idea, I will look into that if need be. Can I ask
                  |if your stuttering before the downgrade was only on
                  |Kodi? Or was it an issue on other apps? My other apps
                  |do not seem affected.

                |I downgrade regularly to 8.2.3 on my not so shitty m1
                |macbook pro, just bought my 8th Shield pro according to
                |amazon lol, you need the male to male usb cable and an
                |nvidia game remote or a wired keyboard though.

        |My 2015 shield can still play the largest remux I throw at it.
        |It's you.

|u/gapgod2001 - 1 day
|
|i have the same firestick, these settings should not be giving you
|buffer issues. i can play any size remux with lossless audio without
|buffering. Check your network speed. i use 5ghz wifi which gives me
|400mbps. Also try restarting your firestick.

|Where is the ripped file stored?

  |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 1 day
  |
  |It’s ripped from a server that is on RD

    |u/byngo69 - 1 day
    |
    |3 things: 1) you didn't answer the "where is the file" question. Do
    |you have it on local storage ( your own media server, HDD, pen
    |drive, SD card etc) or are you streaming it over the internet via
    |RD? 2) with modern compression codecs like Hevc, you wont tell the
    |difference between a hevc 25gb file and a h264 90gb file so pick
    |something smaller. 3). Might be wrong here but despite you buying a
    |gigabit dongle, I think the ethernet controller capability of the
    |f/stick is 100mb. What connection speed does it say your getting in
    |the advanced internet connection menu? You might find WiFi faster
    |depending on what your speeds are from the router.

      |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 23 hours
      |
      |1. I’m using Kodi with fen light and rd 2. Because I have a top
      |of the line tv and surround sound I only want the high quality
      |remux to get the best picture and sound quality and a lot of the
      |remux movies are high gb 3. If you go with the original firesick
      |dongle by Amazon you are limited to 100mbps but picking up an otg
      |cable and a dongle with gigabit Ethernet port gives you a higher
      |speed I max out at 450mbps on a good day and average between
      |350mbps & 450mbps

        |u/byngo69 - 17 hours
        |
        |Fair play with the stream choice and correcting me on the dongle
        |ethernet route, I have a man cave with 4K projector, 110"
        |screen, Nvidia Shield pro and sound system. I too appreciate
        |good quality and I can tell the difference when I play a
        |physical UHD Blu-ray. For quality, this is the way, but we can
        |all appreciate the convenience of streaming methods, made all so
        |possible by high speed broadband rollout. With streams I'm
        |looking for 4k HDR, Dolby Atmos and a hevc 18 to 40gb stream, it
        |honestly looks fantastic and the massive ones ( like 70 - 100gb
        |can cause me issues) so I no longer fuss about it. My internet
        |is supposedly 900mb (synchronous) fttp but I typically get
        |around 450mb at capable devices

|Hello friend. 4gb ram. 512mb cache. Adaptive read. Gigabit ethernet for
|me. Does the job well.

|
|In my testing, I've had better luck with memory set to 256MB using both
|a 2017 Shield and a 4K Max. I also use Open Wizard to set
|advancedettings.xml settings to high-end device. https://preview.redd.i
|t/7tptg0i2y91e1.png?width=1403&format=png&auto=webp&s=0cc2cfe799efd66ca3
|e49563a1ddc68dcea297d4 These default high-end device settings seem to
|work well for me, but if anyone recommends something better, I'm always
|up to try for improvements. A good file I've found for testing is
|Mulholland Drive(96.3GB, BDREMUX, RD, FenLight), if it don't glitch in
|opening dance sequence you're good to go.

  |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 22 hours
  |
  |I had open wizard setup before, then I had to reset my firestick since
  |I had installed too many apps and I lost my config, open wizard fixed
  |all my problems but now since Kodi 21 is out the steps for open wizard
  |are removed

    |u/mrpickem1 - 21 hours
    |
    |With 21 there is no advancedsettings.xml file by default. You have
    |to create it, otherwise it still works the same.

      |u/SatisfactionRare429 - 21 hours
      |
      |I’ll definitely look into it
