Scients - Former organisers of Science Social Events [SciEnts] ***SciEnts now has a home on the gophersphere!*** A collaboration between: The_Archimedeans, Physics_Society, BioSoc, CUAS, SciSoc and BlueSci. Scients was a collaboration between The_Archimedeans, Physics_Society, BioSoc, CUAS, SciSoc and BlueSci. SciEnts organised jointly run social events between the Societies. Scientific Societies are organising joint events still, but not under the SciEnts branding. Please see the individual society websites for information on events they are organising. Details of our previous events: Garden Party Saturday, 16th June 2007 Our Garden party was sponsored by Accelrys and the East Anglia Branch of the Institute of Physics. Despite the weather, Mathematicians and Scientists still enjoyed Pimms, Strawberries and Cream, and a selection of other delicious foods in the Peterhouse Deer Park and Music Room. Jazz & Cocktails Evening Sunday, 12th March 2007 50 Scientists and Mathematicians enjoyed a night of Live Jazz Music and Cocktails held in New Hall Bar. Scients Christmas Dinner 2006 Thursday, 30th November 2006 120 Mathmos and Scientists Celebrated Christmas in style with our 2nd Christmas Dinner, held in New Hall Dome, followed by Mince Pies and Port in New Hall Bar. The menu was: Gondala of Honeydew Melon ~~~~ Char Grilled Supremum of Chicken with a Tarragon & White Wine Sauce with Selection of Vegetables ~~~~ Chocolate Fudge Cake with Chantilly Cream Garden Party Friday, 16th June 2006 Over 100 Scientists and Mathematicians attended our Garden Party, sponsored by QinetiQ, Hitachi and dstl, in Peterhouse Deer Park, with plenty of Food, Drink and "Champagne" available. "Deal or No Deal" Cocktail Evening Friday, 17th February 2006 Scients presented our own format of the popular show "Deal or no Deal" (which is actually based on Quantum_Mechanics), with prizes instead of cash including a Voucher for a takeaway, a slice of Fudge Kitchen Fudge, a Penny in your cocktail and a Cabbage! The MathSci Random Superlative Dinner Saturday, 26th November 2005 80 Mathmos and Scientists Celebrated Christmas in style with a 3 Course Dinner with wine at Emmanuel College, followed by Mince Pies and Port in The Castle Pub.
