SO LONG, REDHAT (Posted 2005-09-17 13:07:52 by Ray Lopez) Patrick Volkerding has released Slackware [ http://www.slackware.com ] 10.2, and I have decided to take this occasion to formally wipe my disk clean of Redhat 9 and go back to using Slackware. Redhat no longer supports their non-enterprise package, and for the past months I've just been patching and doing all the upkeep to my system manually. So I figured if I am doing all of this anyway, I may as well go back to Slackware, which makes doing things under the hood much easier. Slackare was my first Linux package. I don't recall when I first started using it but I know that by 1995 I was running 100 percent on Slackware, so I think it was around late '93 or so. Slackware never gave me one lick of trouble, so I am glad to be going back. -------- There are no comments on this post.
