GUIDELINES
----------

The Complete.Org BTS (Bug-Tracking System) is designed to be as open
as possible. Do not place confidential data such as passwords in the
BTS. Also, please use the "Reply" function as much as possible, so
everyone can stay informed. The "Comment" function does not inform
the submitter ("Requestor" in RT parlance) of the comment/change, and
usually you want to. But, they can find out anyway if they sign up to
the site.

WHEN E-MAIL IS SENT
-------------------

The request tracking system automatically sends e-mails on a variety
of different occasions. Here is a summary of when such e-mails get
sent, and who receives them.

 * When a new ticket is created:
+ Creator ("requestor") receives an acknowledgment
+ Anyone flagged AdminCC for the queue (see below) gets a
     notification

 * When someone replies to a ticket:
+ The correspondence is sent to the requestors, the bug owner, and people
flagged CC for the bug or the queue.

 * When someone makes a "comment" on a ticket:
+ The comment is sent to the bug owner, the admin CCs for the
bug or the queue, and ??

 * When the status of a bug changes (ie, from "new" to "open"):
+ A notification is sent to requestors, the bug owner, and
people flagged CC for the bug or the queue.

 * When a bug is resolved, the actions under "when the status changes"
above are followed, AND the requestor is sent a note with
   information about the bug closing.

 * When ANY OTHER transaction occurs (ie, setting keywords,
reassigning the bug, etc), a notification is sent to the person
on record as owner before the transaction took place and to
people flagged as AdminCC for the bug or the queue.

Q. How do I sign up to get an e-mail whenever a new bug is submitted?

A. Log in, click Configuration, then Queues, pick the queue for which
you want to receive messages, click Watchers. Type in your username,

Changes.

Q. How can I receive e-mail whenever ANYTHING happens to ALL bugs in a
queue?

A. Do the same as above, but pick Cc in addition to AdminCc.

Q. How can I sign up to receive e-mail from one particular bug?

A. Pull up the bug, pick People, and in the "add new watchers", add
yourself as a Cc or Admin Cc, depending on what you want to get.

Q. I tried to reassign a bug from someone else to me, but I got
   "permission denied." What gives?

A. In general, RT doesn't allow you to reassign a bug from someone
else to an arbitrary person. However, you can reassign a bug from
anyone to you by using the "Take" or "Steal" options. These
   override the default security setting.
