Awatarts.1056 net.map utcsrgv!utzoo!decvax!watmath!watarts!darcy Sun Jan 17 21:09:13 1982 Maps We have a newsgroup net.map. Why not use it for posting maps etc.? It would just seem to make sense. Perhaps a map such as the Shannon's is best with a listing of the addresses of the machines on a following page. I think that very few of uss have studied 'How to make a map with an ASCII keyboard.' (On 8.5" by 11"). I tend to doubt that such a map could be written on a typed page by this time next year as this net does seem to be growing. (Perhaps one should invest in the phone company.) The maps must be able to be easily adjusted for the expected new births of Unix children. I tend to agree that N.J. and the Windy City should be kept on a separate map just do to the sheer number of Unixes (sp?) in these locations. Please remember that when you are making up a map, any idiot must be able to read it. (I found it confusing seeing utah-gr and utah-cs listed the way it is on the Shannon's make, and there is likely a thousand readers. Also, remember idiots are ingenious and do need to be protected from themselves at times.) ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen <jgoerzen@complete.org> of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
