Weather Situation A ridge along the east coast will weaken on Monday as a high pressure system moves east of New Zealand. A trough over the Channel Country will move further east over southwest parts of Queensland tonight, then will move across the northwest, central and southern interior on Monday, before reaching South East Queensland and adjacent coastal waters on Tuesday. A new ridge and moist onshore winds will extend along the east coast from Wednesday, combining with an approaching upper trough to increase rainfall about the southern coast midweek and about the tropical east coast later in the week. Forecast for the rest of Sunday 17 November Isolated to scattered showers about eastern Queensland and the Peninsula. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere, showers tending scattered over the southern interior and the far northwest. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, turning east to southeasterly about the east coast north of Cairns, and variable over far western Queensland. Winds tending moderate to fresh northerly about the southwest. Gusty winds in the southwest near a trough and southwesterly change. Maximum temperatures near or slightly below average in central and southeast Queensland, above average elsewhere. Severe heatwave conditions in the western Peninsula and the eastern Gulf Country. Forecast for Monday 18 November Isolated to scattered showers about eastern Queensland north of Gladstone and on the Peninsula. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the state interior, southeast and Gulf Country, showers tending scattered to widespread over the southern and southeastern interior. Partly cloudy in the far southwest. Light to moderate northwest to northeasterly winds, tending easterly about the northeast. Fresh and gusty southerly winds in the southwest, extending with a trough over the central west, northwest and southern state interior during the day. Maximum temperatures below average in the far west and slightly above average in the east and far north. Severe heatwave conditions easing from the Gulf Country and continuing in the Peninsula. Fire Danger: High for the Channel Country, Maranoa and Warrego. Forecast for Tuesday 19 November Isolated to scattered showers about eastern Queensland north of Gladstone and on the Peninsula. Isolated to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms across the state interior, southeast and Gulf Country. The showers tending scattered to widespread at times with isolated thunderstorms in central and southeast Queensland. Possible severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall from the Central Highlands to the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, as well as parts of the Maranoa and southern South East Coast. Partly cloudy in the far southwest. Maximum temperatures tending below average about the west and south, and well below average in the southern inland, while remaining slightly above average in the Peninsula and tropical east coast. Forecast for Wednesday 20 November Isolated to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms across much of the state, though tending to scattered to widespread showers across southeast Queensland with possible moderate falls.
