Militants Attack Somali Intelligence Base by VOA News Al-Shabab militants in Somalia have attacked a national intelligence agency compound in the capital, killing a security agent and wounding two others. The raid on the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) base Sunday in Mogadishu started with a suicide car bombing. NISA said in a statement "The attack was successfully thwarted by our forces. None of our buildings nor bases were entered." However, media reports said attackers fought their way into the facility amid intense gunfire. Officials said at least three militants were killed in the assault. Authorities told VOA the suicide car bombing hit the "wrong target," striking the door of a residential building next to the compound. On Saturday, at least 15 Somali police officers were killed in a raid on a checkpoint in Afgoye, about 30 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu. Some material for this report came from AFP and Reuters. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/militants-attack-somali-intelligence- base/2831217.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/militants-attack-somali-intelligence-base/2831217.html
