Militants Attack Prison Holding Taliban in NW Pakistan

Pakistani Taliban militants have attacked a prison in northwestern
Pakistan, in an apparent attempt to free jailed terrorists.
Witnesses say security forces are engaged in a firefight with the
attackers at the prison in the town of Dera Ismail Khan. An
intelligence official says the militants can be heard shouting "Long
   Live the Taliban."
A Pakistani Taliban spokesman is claming responsibility for the attack.
He tells Pakistan`s Dawn newspaper that about 150 militants were
involved, including several suicide bombers. The spokesman is calling
   the operation a success.
But Pakistani authorities have not confirmed if anyone has escaped the
prison. It is also not clear how many people have been wounded.
Residents living near the prison say they heard several large
explosions before the attackers opened fire with machine guns and
   rocket-propelled grenades.
Arbor 5,000 inmates live in the prison, including as many as 250
convicted terrorists. About 40 are so-called "high-profile" prisoners.
