Kenyan Police Officer Kills 10 in Shooting Rampage

   Authorities in central Kenya say a police officer has killed 10 people
   in an early-morning shooting spree.

   The  rampage  happened  around  1 a.m. local time Sunday in Siakago, a
   small town northeast of the capital Nairobi.

   Police  spokesmen  say  the officer left guard duty at a local station
   after  hearing that his girlfriend was drinking with police colleagues
   at a nearby bar.

   They say the man went to the bar, shot and killed two fellow officers,
   then went to another bar and began shooting indiscriminately.

   Eight  civilians  in  addition to the two police officers were dead by
   the  time  the rampage ended. Police say the shooter eventually turned
   himself in at the Siakago police station.

   Police have launched an investigation.
