Seattle Teacher Pepper-Sprayed by Police Reaches $100,000 Settlement
--------------------------------------------------------------------

And in Seattle, a public school teacher who was pepper-sprayed by the
police during a Black Lives Matter protest on Martin Luther King Day has
reached a $100,000 settlement with the city, and he's using the money to
establish the Black Education Matters Scholarship for student activists.
Jesse Hagopian is a history teacher at Garfield High School. He was
pepper-sprayed by Seattle police officer Sandra Delafuente while talking
on the phone with his mother after addressing the rally. He announced
the settlement on Monday.

Jesse Hagopian: "I did reach a settlement with the city of Seattle for
$100,000. But I want it to be clear that $100,000 is not justice."
