August 17, 2010 New Deepwater Oil Drilling Regulations Outlined ----------------------------------------------- The Interior Department announced Monday that it will no longer exempt certain deepwater offshore oil drilling projects from environmental review. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said that environmental impact statements will be required for all new deepwater drilling under US jurisdiction. But under the administration’s new plan, non-deepwater drilling operations may continue to be approved without environmental review.
