NATO Attack Kills 4 Afghan Civilians
------------------------------------

At least four unarmed civilians have been killed by NATO troops in
Afghanistan. The victims were traveling in a vehicle in eastern Khost
province Monday when a NATO convoy opened fire. The dead were identified
as a twelve-year-old boy, an Afghan police officer, and two shopkeepers
from a local bazaar. In a statement, the US-led NATO force said the
victims were two “known insurgents” and their “associates” but didn’t
offer proof and also didn’t dispute Afghan claims they were unarmed. The
shooting comes one week after US troops killed five Afghan civilians and
wounded eighteen others after firing on a passenger bus near Kandahar.
