To add your system to the list, send the system name, the Internet domain name (if you have one) the IP address, the port number on which you accept user logins, and a WWW home page URL if you have one to the submission address. If you have a special account for new users or if you do not accept autoregistrations over the Internet, please include that data as well. You may also submit your site's info from the website. IMPORTANT:If you are not an admin, DO NOT submit your site's data. If possible, please mail your information from a "postmaster" account. For additions include the word 'add' in the subject, for changes include the word 'change', and for removals use the word 'delete'. The process of modifying the list is semi-automated, and these help a lot. This posting is made as a public service based solely on data submitted by site administrators. Only versions after 2.6 support IP connections. 2) Make certain your connection to the Internet is a PPP, SLIP or better connection from a service provider with full-time Internet access. "Internet access" offered by online services such as America Online will not work. 3) Edit a copy of your FirstClass settings file for the site you wish to connect to, substituting the appropriate IP address in the Server field of the connection setup window. Choose TCP-IP.FCP as your connection method. 4) With the connection setup window still open, verify that the port you are about to try contacting is the appropriate port for the site (either 3000 or 3004). Press the Setup button beside the Connect via popup, and check the "advanced settings" of your TCP connection for the port number. Change it to 3004 if necessary (it9s 3000 by default). Save your changes. 5) Initiate your local Internet connection and press the Login button. You will be connected to the site if there are ports available. The performance you experience will depend on the bandwidth of your Internet connection and network traffic conditions. If you connect to multiple servers at different port numbers, consider duplicating your TCP-IP.FCP file, renaming one TCP3000.FCP and the other TCP3004.FCP, then when you create a settings file for a particular FC system, choose the appropriate port FCP file. You have to set up each FCP file once, which will store the port in the file. The settings files remember which FCP to use for the connection, so you won't have to change this each time you connect. -- Andrew Lester TCPLIST,Afterlife <= OneNet andy.lester@vircomm.com <= general stuff tcplist@vircomm.com <= submissions
