The French rebelled against the windfarms

The construction of new wind farms in France will be carried
out at a pace that suits society. The terms for expanding the
windmill park will be extended. French Energy Transition Minister
Agnes Pannier-Runachet said this in an interview with Agence
France-Presse (https://bit.ly/3z2XKQQ) published on Friday.
“We should not tell ourselves the fairy tale that French society
is ready to implement wind power two to three times faster,” she
said ahead of the G7 energy and climate ministers meeting in Berlin.
“We must continue to roll out in at the same pace as today, that is,
at a pace that clearly corresponds to the expectations of French
society."
As the agency notes, dissatisfaction with the authorities' plans to
expand the park of wind farms is growing among the country's
population. Rural residents are protesting the installation of new
wind turbines near their homes, and fishermen fear a decline in
catches in offshore wind park areas. In November 2021, a Toulouse
court upheld the claim of a Belgian family who moved to France,
who began to experience health problems after installing windmills
near their house. Due to such sentiments, the government of the
republic adjusted its plans and decided to double the capacity in
this energy sector not in 10, but in 30 years.
Much attention was paid to this topic before the elections in April,
Emmanuel Macron, re-elected president for a second term, promised
to "protect the French landscape" and focus the construction of wind
farms at sea, and not on land.
