Having played her as one of my main character (rarely a striker) enjoyably since the release of kof'2000 prompted me to write this guide. Here goes! Machine Gun Puncher hcf + P (can tap P rapidly) (Multiple punches by Vanessa, increase hits by punching P) -This move is useful in inflicting tick damage. -Comes out if any of your DM failed becuz of command over-lay. -Minimum damage. Parring Puncher f,d,df + P (Version A hits downwards and opponent lands infront, neutralizes fireball) (Version C hits upwards and opponent lands a distance away, reflects fireball) -Auto guard. -Knock down if connects. Dash Puncher Charge b,f + P (Vanessa dashes across and upper-cuts her opponent into the air) -Can connect with just about anything after a successful dash puncher. -She dashes low when she moves across the screen. Puncher Vision (forward) qcf + K (Teleports forward, upper body invunerability. D version is further) -Stops in front of opponent regardless Puncher Vision (backward) qcb + K (Teleports backwards, upper body invunerability. D version is further) Puncher Upper f + A from Puncher Vision (Travels a short distance and gives a one-two knock down move) -Travels forward slowly -Opponent flies upwards and land quite close to you. Take note to push her victim away to follow up a combo.) She's the only character with a backwards teleport motion, so you should very well abuse it. Example: Standing C -> f + A ((that gives you 4 hits in total for you to see whether your opponent is blocking)) Cancel any of the last hits into a teleport (Puncher Vision)and you are safe for another try. (2) Teleport yet again. Having upper body invulnerability is cool and your forward teleport stops right in front of your opponent unless he jumps which leave you behind him. Example: Takuma throws a fireball, teleport (Puncher Vision) pass his fireball and combo him. (3) Jump CD. Her knock-down CD is similiar to benimaru's and has great length and piority. (4) You can always attempt to use her infinity on normal to large size opponents. - Do it till they guard crush and they die. - Do it to fill your power gauge, yours fill up faster. - Do it till they CD counter you, wasting a point of power. (5) Vanessa against opponents who crouch B a lot is a pain to play with because she has no lower body invunerability during Puncher Vision or Puncher Waving. She also very few good lower body attacks. So, it's best to jump in with A or you may miss them. (6) Vanessa against short characters are a pain to play with too. Your standing C may miss them, so link your combo with down A/B attacks. (7) Reflect any projectile with Parring Puncher C using b + C during Puncher Waving. You may reflect DM projectiles too, but they deal the same minimum damage. (8)*NEW* Since your crouching A and B can link up to far standing C, you can use it to push yourself to the far standing distance for the infinity. Doing so enables you to do the punch waving infinity on some large crouching opponents. (9)*NEW* Use her first in your team. Most people will put K' or Takuma first in their team. Just guard crush them using your infinity. Your far standing C can hit them even if they are crouch blocking. If they are using characters like Choi, Bao, or Iori, I'll suggest you play her carefully. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Playing with Vanessa (Joe striker) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vanessa don't need any striker if you are a expert. But with Joe, you can easily set up your infinite combo. I normally place her 1st to increase my power guage. (1)After a successful Champion Puncher (DM) with opponent in corner, you can call Joe. Joe will leave at the end of screen, just finish off with any combo or the infinity. (2)After a successful Champion Puncher (DM) with opponent NOT in corner, B version teleport forward and call Joe in between. AB to the back of opponent and do her infinity. If you want to finish off with a basic combo, push your opponent away from Joe by running after you AB. (The good thing about calling a striker during a special move is that you don't have the taunt animation.) (3)You may replace Champion Puncher with Pairing Puncher A version. (4)If you finish off with Machine Gun Puncher in a combo or alone, call out Joe when it is about to end or your opponent will be knocked away. (5)A neat way of getting your opponent into the corner is the Puncher Straight after a Puncher Vision. Then call Joe with opponent on the floor. You know the drill. Thats all with playing Vanessa with Joe as striker. If you can't do any of the combos above, you need to get your timing right.
