***4: About the Game***
=======================

In Star Trek Shattered Universe, you play a fighter pilot aboard the USS
Excelsior, under the command of Captain Sulu. During a routine mission, the
Excelsior is pulled into the hostile Mirror Universe ("Mirror Mirror" [TOS]).
You will help to protect the Excelsior while she makes unlikely allies and
discoveries on her quest to return to her own universe. In your travels you
will encounter objects familiar to the original Star Trek series, including the
M5 Computer and the Planet Killer.

The manual of the game will help you more on the basics of the game. Let's

***6: Walkthrough***
====================

While responding to a distress call, the Excelsior is transposed into the
Mirror Universe. That is, the crew of the Excelsior replaces their counterparts
in the Mirror Universe. Upon entering the Mirror Universe, Captain Chekov of
the ISS Enterprise attacks the Excelsior, claiming that Sulu has rebelled
against the Empire.

***

Mission 1: Shattered Universe
Stardate: 9587.5
Bonus: Finish in 4:00

Chekov launches fighters against the ISS Excelsior. The Excelsior crew
suddenly discovers that they too have fighters in their shuttle bay, and
launch them in an attempt to force the Enterprise to withdraw. Upon doing
so, the Janus Vortex that seems to be responsible for the crossover is
destroyed. Sulu decides to set a course for Janus Ultima.

Strategy: Use the homing torpedoes by targeting and firing and then immediately
move on to another target. Don't sit around waiting to see the enemy fighter
explode or you'll lose valuable time.

***

Mission 2: Fire and Ice
Stardate: 9587.5
Bonus: Finish in 12:00

Your fighter is launched to target and destroy mineral-rich asteroids so
that the raw materials may be harvested. This task is made difficult by
several waves of Klingon Bird of Preys, and finally a Klingon Battle
Cruiser! The ISS Renegade appears and forces the Klingons to withdraw. The
Renegade escorts the Excelsior to Starbase IX for repairs.

***

Mission 3: Renegade
Stardate: 9588.7
Bonus: Finish in 6:00

Your cover is blown and the station Commander tries to launch a surprise
attack on Excelsior while it is in drydock. Sulu sees through this and
launches the fighters to protect the Excelsior until repairs are completed.

Strategy: You can fly to the top of Starbase and destroy the antenna (a hidden
objective) This will stop the fighters from the Starbase.

***

Mission 4: Tyranny of Numbers
Stardate: 9589.2
Bonus: Finish in 10:00

Sulu decides to make a run for the Klingon Empire in hopes to evade the
Terran Empire. On the way, a fleet of decommissioned ships controlled by an
M5 computer attacks. Upon destroying the M5 computer ship, the remaining
ships self destruct. Orion Raiders then attack to capitalize on the
Excelsior's weakness.

Strategy: Destroy the first capital ship (Hood) and then wait for the others
to start moving. Then damage one enough, but don't completely destroy it. Wait
until all three capital ships are crossing over each other and then destroy the
damaged ship. If timed correctly, you'll take out the other two capital ships
(they'll be caught in the breach.)

***

Mission 5: The Way of All Empires
stardate: 9690.3
Bonus: No bonus.

You arrive at Klingon border, but need dilithium crystals from Terran outpost
to restore the Excelsior's engines. Chekov sends two starships and fighters to
stop you. After holding off attack fighters, you make a dash to collect the
crystals from the station's reactor. Chekov then attacks and you force him to
withdraw.

Strategy: You have to destroy the 2 enemy capitals, only then will the Reactor
Bay Door open for you.

***

Mission 6: Field of Honor
Stardate 9694.4
Bonus: Finish in 17:00

Chekov's orders change a bit: He is to make sure the Klingons do not get the
Excelsior. The Excelsior stops at an asteroid field to get more resources
while fighting off several squadrons of fighters. After collecting resources
from the 6th asteroid and repelling the Klingons, two Orion ships enter the
fight. The Excelsior has no shields or sensors, so it's only protection is
your fighter.

Strategy: To dodge guided photons, just boost until it blows up away from you.
For regular photons, try spinning and boosting. Use the Phantom and get behind
the Orion fighters and use Torpedoes and Phasers.

***

Mission 7: A Dish Best Served Cold
Stardate 9599.7
Bonus: No Bonus

As the Excelsior continues into Klingon territory, it encounters a trail of
destruction. Klingon Starbase XII is under attack and the Excelsior responds
to their distress call. Upon arrival, they find two Klingon cruisers with
imminent core breaches; if they blow up, the blast will destroy the
starbase. Sulu orders the Excelsior to tractor the cruisers away, while you
defend the ship against attacks from other Klingon fighters.

Strategy: Just shoot the fighters, the Excelsior can handle her own with the
capital ships. The fighters don't hurt the Excelsior as much as the capital
ships. If you can, use the Phantom with its MIRV torpedoes.

***

Mission 8: From Hell's Heart
Stardate 9602.9
Bonus: Save the Remaining Klingon Starbase

The Excelsior determines that the Doomsday Machine is responsible for the
destruction in the Klingon territory. The Terran Empire is escorting the
weapon to the last defenses of the Klingon homeworld. Sulu orders the
Excelsior to engage it and disable it before it can reach Qo'nos.

Strategy: You can save the second Klingon Starbase by destroying both Doomsday
machine escorts. This is VERY hard to do, however.

***

Mission 9: Enemy of My Enemy
Stardate 9603.4
Bonus: No Bonus

The Klingons escort Excelsior to the Romulan border as an act of gratitude
for saving their homeworld. Excelsior and its escorts are ambushed by the
Terran Empire. You must defend them...

Strategy: When there are multiple capital ships, destroy the shields of one
ship completely and then move on to destroy the shields of the other ships.
Once you knock out the shields, they don't regenerate, so now you've helped the
shots that are fired from the Excelsior as they start to hit the ships' hulls.

***

Mission 10: Balok's War
Stardate 9606.2
Bonus: Defeat Balok's Fighters in 6:00

The Excelsior continues towards the Janus Vortex. It is attacked by Captain
Balok of the Fesarius. You must destroy the buoys surrounding the Excelsior,
which are emanating radiation.

Strategy: Stay close to the Excelsior, don't chase the cubes, let them come
to you.

***

Mission 11: The Excelsior Incident
Stardate 9608.4
Bonus: Complete Mission in 10:00

The Excelsior has entered the Romulan Neutral Zone. A Romulan patrol using
Klingon ships has detected the Excelsior. You must prevent them from
reporting the location of Excelsior.

***

Mission 12: Sight Unseen
Stardate 9609.1
Bonus: Complete Mission in 18:00

The Excelsior has entered Romulan space. Several starship derelicts from
previous attacks are found. You scout the derelicts and dispose of any
Romulan ships. The Orions then attack and you must repel them.

***

Mission 13: No Immunity
Stardate 9612.9
Bonus: Complete Mission in 7:00

The Excelsior has entered an energy field surrounding by a large organism. A
Romulan starbase has a warhead that will allow Excelsior to destroy the
organism, so your mission it to retrieve it.

Strategy: Try to blast the shields of the two Romulan capitals before the
Excelsior gets to the Starbase as that will prevent them from using their
cloaking device.

***

Mission 14: Antibody
Stardate 9615.4
Bonus: Recover all Bio-Probes

The Excelsior has entered the organism in order to destroy it. If it is
allowed to survive, it may reproduce and overrun known space...

***

Mission 15: Sunstorm
Stardate 9617.7
Bonus: No Romulan Casualties

Chekov believes that Sulu is trying to start a coalition of Klingons and
Romulans to overthrow the Terran Empire. As thanks for destroying the
organism, the Romulans agree to escort the Excelsior. Chekov plans an ambush
and you must defend the Excelsior and Romulan escorts. In the middle of the
battle, Chekov is able to steal information from your computers.

***

Mission 16: Wormhole
Stardate 9621.2
Bonus: Destroy all Asteroids

The Excelsior has reached the Tholian/Romulan border. A fleet of Terran
ships approaches the Excelsior, forcing it to warp before the engines were
fully repaired. As a result, an imbalance in the warp core causes Excelsior
to enter a wormhole, and some of the Terran ships were able to enter it (the
wormhole effect is the same as that in The Motion Picture). You must also
destroy an asteroids heading towards Excelsior in the wormhole.

***

Mission 17: The Unwound Skein
Stardate 9622.7
Bonus: No bonus

Intercepted Terran transmissions show that they know that Excelsior is
headed towards the Janus Vortex. Excelsior then receives a distress call
from the ISS Enterprise, which is tied up in a Tholian web. Sulu decides to
answer the distress call and saves the Enterprise. Chekov reveals that he
knows Sulu's identity and that Command assigned him to a suicide mission
because of his earlier failures. Chekov then offers to help the Excelsior
get to the vortex.

Strategy: Don't waste time shooting at the web spinners as they are
indestructible. Destroy the Tholian capitals as soon as they arrive this will
stop more fighters from coming.

***

Mission 18: Vortex
Stardate 9626.3
Bonus: No bonus

The Excelsior reaches the Vortex with the Enterprise. The Terran Empire has
positioned an armada at the location to stop Excelsior. You must hold
them off.

***

Mission 19: Mirror, Mirror
Stardate 9628.9
Bonus: No bonus

You enter the Janus Vortex to find yourself fighting against the Regular
Universe Excelsior, which is manned by crew from the mirror universe. You must
hold off the fighters until the dilithium torpedo can be deployed and
detonated. When you do, you return to the regular universe and are back aboard
the USS Excelsior.

Strategy: DO NOT USE YOUR PHASERS! If you have the Phantom Type III, fly around
at top speed tailing fighters and using your MIRVs. Also, try to fly into new
groups and shoot MIRVs for them to fly into. Phasers reload faster than MIRVs,
but it takes longer to kill fighters, so the extra 2 or 3 seconds is worth it.
