 iii. Introduction

Welcome to Enter the Matrix. For the unknowing, which isn't likely, this game
is a direct tie-in with the film The Matrix: Reloaded. The two main characters
are Ghost and Niobe, crew members aboard the Logos. They feature in the movie,
but not heavily, and this game was made and directed by the Wachowski brothers
in an attempt to extend the world of the Matrix beyond the film, by showing you
these two characters stories. A whole bunch of extra filming was done
especially for this game, it's probably one of the most well thought out movie
tie-in games I've seen, so enjoy!

I'd like my FAQ to be as comprehensive as possible, although obviously at this
early stage I know I'm missing quite a bit.

  v. A Timeline of the Matrix

Please note this section contains major spoilers of the game, the movies and
the Animatrix, so only read if you've seen them all or you don't care at all. I
will provide references to certain Matrix related things as I explain the
timeline.

[The Second Renaissance Parts I & II] Originally there was man, and everything
was fine in the world. Eventually we made robots, and eventually it was the
case that men didn't need to work, because robots did everything for them. That
is until one day, a robot, B166ER, rose against his masters and killed them. He
is destroyed, and orders are made to destroy every robot in the world. Those
that lived managed to seek refuse, and created their own country, 01. In this
country they prospered, and started up their own industries in AI, and their
worth grew and grew as humans came to rely on their goods. But world leaders
refused to co-operate with them and tried to isolate 01. 01 sent delegates to
try and make 01 a part of the United Nations, but they were refused and killed.
Man began to attack 01 with atomic bombs, but the robots were not affected by
them and their troops attacked nearby countries. Man was losing ground, and
they came up with a desparate plan to stop the robots, operation 'Dark Storm'.
They were to cover the sky with a thick black smoke that would cut off the
machines from their main source of energy, the Sun. Evidently this didn't work
and in the war that followed, man lost terribly, as the machines had learnt
man's weakness and how they could be killed. Having been denied of the Sun, the
machines adapted, and set to work on turning humans into their new energy
source. Having done so it appears the first Matrix was created by the Architect
as a way to keep humans controlled, so their power could be efficiently
harvested.

The Matrix was created to be a perfect world where the minds of the humans
would be able to live in harmony without ever knowing the truth. But the Matrix
would fail and fail, and the Architect didn't know why. Not until the Oracle
provided her help was the Matrix made properly. The Architect was too perfect a
program to realise that choice was the missing element. Without choice, even at
a subconscious level, the human mind could not cope, and the Oracle provided a
way of making choice an option. And so the first Matrix was created where 99%
of the humans within it would accept it. The remaining 1% were able to break
free, and form Zion, a city deep beneath the the surface of the real world,
away from the machines. Technology was built and the free minds learnt how to
jack into the Matrix at will, and were able to free more minds. However the
Matrix is in a cycle and at the end of every cycle, Zion is destroyed, and a
few chosen to rebuild it from scratch.

It is during the sixth cycle that the events of the movies take place. A man
named Thomas Anderson, with the hacker alias of Neo, has been searching for a
world famous 'terrorist' name Morpheus for over two years. He has a question
and he wants an answer, and Morpheus is the man to tell him. After a brief but
painful encounter with three Agents, Neo gets to meet Morpheus and find out for
himself what the Matrix really is. Apparently Morpheus is just as happy to see
him, for he believes Neo is The One. After meeting the Oracle Neo is told he
isn't the One, but you never know....So Cipher betrays the lot of em, kills off
some non-important characters, and the Agents get Morpheus. Neo won't let him
die and sets out to save him with Trinity, which he does. However Neo gets
killed by Agent Smith, until the love of Trinity resurrects him, and he becomes
The One, destroying Agent Smith in the process, and all is happy.

[Final Flight of the Osiris] If you've seen this, you'll see that the crew of
the Osiris discover about the machines digging, and a female member of the crew
makes an emergency drop within the Matrix, just before the ship is destroyed
and they are all killed. This is where the game and Reloaded begin, and their
plots weave about each other. The drop is picked up by Niobe and Ghost and thus
everyone finds out about the digging. A lot of stuff happens, including one of
the Smiths taking over the body of Bane within the real world, but naturally it
works out that Neo has to save the day. He enters the Source, and meets the
Architect, where he finds out the Matrix loops and he is the sixth one, and he
will have to choose people to rebuild Zion. Neo doesn't accept this, and takes
the door that leads to the supposed destruction of mankind. He saves Trinity's
life, and back in the real world uses some kind of power to take down some
Sentinels, sending him into a coma. The film ends on Neo laid on a stretcher,
back to back with Bane/Smith.

As for now, we have to wait until November to find out what happens, and maybe
the story will continue in the Matrix Online in 2004. Apologies for the not so
great timeline, once I've had a chance to see Reloaded again I'll redo it.

 1. Controls

There's a lot to get to grips with here, the game makes use of all the buttons
except L3 and R3, however it's not as complicated as you'd think once you're
used to it. All of these controls can be viewed by pausing the game and going
to the 'Controls' option, but they're all here anyways, just in case. Also, as
you work your way through the game you will obtain a bunch of 'Tips', which can
all be viewed by pausing the game and going to the Tips option. In there is
some useful knowledge you might not have known, but can come in handy.

--
When Walking/Running/Shooting

left analog stick: General movement in all directions. Walk towards an obstacle
to push your back against it. If the obstacle is low you will automatically
duck. Also, when in first-person mode you can look around using it.
right analog stick: Enter or exit first-person mode
right directional button: Quick-select primary weapon
left directional button: Quick-select secondary weapon
square: Action button. Use to open doors, push buttons, holster your weapon and
   strangle your opponent from behind.
traingle: Press and hold to throw your secondary weapon. It will be thrown at
an enemy if you have them targeted.
X: Jump. You can run and jump and automatically grab an edge. You can also jump
and auto-cling to a ladder. Focus while jumping will allow you to perform a
large gap covering jump. (similar to Morpheus in the first movie)
L1: Focus button. Hold down to stay focused and it will provide you with
   greater abilities.
R1: Draw primary weapon, and then fire primary weapon.
R2/L2: Strafe right or left. Pressure sensitive.
select: Brings up a weapon selection menu. Not really needed with quick-select.
start: Pause button. Use to access pause game menus, and press again to
       unpause. Kinda obvious.

Strafe towards a corner when backed against a wall to peer around corners. Use
R1 to lean out and fire. Jump out from behind a corner with X.
Strafe and then jump while focused to perform a sideways cartwheel.
Focus and run at a wall at an angle to wall run, and run at one perpendicular
to it to backflip off of the wall. You can focus and dive forwards or backwards
while being shot at.

--
Sniper Mode

right analog stick: Enter/exit sniper mode when your sniper gun is equipped.
left analog stick: Aim your weapon.
square: Zoom in.
X: Zoom out.

Note that when in sniper mode, pressing down moves the crosshairs up, and vice
versa.
--
Hand-to-Hand Combat

square: Defend/block/counter.
triangle: Punch.
circle: Kick.
circle+triangle: Throw.

left analog stick: Aim
R1 or X: Fire cannon
L1 or square: Change the view between rear and front facing.

--
Here are some things to be aware of when playing. Your focus meter doesn't last
forever, so be careful. However, it will recharge over time, and you'll gain a
few extra percent every time you kill an enemy. Your health also recuperates
with time, but if you're lucky you'll find a first aid kit on the floor. Just
run over it to go back up to 100% health. The same goes for weapons, pick them
up by running over them, assuming you have the room for them.

Focus when you shoot and not only can you deal more damage in less time, you
will be more accurate, which is especially useful for picking off enemies from
a distance. Focusing opens up many more abilities to your character too, and in
some cases is the only way to defeat an opponent or get out of a tight
situation.

 2. Ghosts Missions

 a. The Post Office
Here is where you'll start the game. You need to acquire an emergency drop
made by the crew of the Osiris from the post office. Sparks thinks it's
suicide but that won't stop Niobe. Once you reach the post office Ghost heads
  in and the game begins.

   i. Closing Time
Use this time to acquaint yourself with movement and the likes, try not to
pull out your guns otherwise you'll be attacked. Try out focusing and running
up walls. From where you start, head right until a cutscene kicks in, you'll
find out the PO box you're after is upstairs. Head towards the lift opposite
the entrance and press square. You'll find the lift isn't working in another
cutscene, but there's a freight elevator you can use instead. Head through the
door right next to you, and then through the door in the next room. Once
inside, head forward, turn right and head down the corridor before turning
right again. Go down this corridor, turn right and there should be a door on
your left about a third of the way down. Head through this room and up some
steps, through the door, up more steps and another door and then yet another
set of steps and a door. Open it and you'll be able to save.

  ii. Epicenter
You start on some metal grating. Head down the stairs until you reach the
floor, and take out any guards there. Run towards the fencing ahead of you,
and you'll automatically climb it. Now turn right and head through the sorting
room. Turn left once you're through that and you should see the elevator. Take
out any guards and hop in. A cut scene starts in the elevator, apparently
Sparks thinks it's a trap, and not to go up, but it's too late, you're already
 there. Save.

  iii. Unexpected Arrival
As soon as you can, take out the four or five guards waiting for you, use
focus and shoot to take them out so quick they don't have a chance. Head round
the corner, avoid the forklift truck and take out some more guards. Follow the
route around, taking out the guards as necessary until you trigger a cutscene.
Tear gas forces you to seek out some heights, and the cutscene points you
towards you way out. From where you restart, head forwards, focus jump across
to the other pipe, and run along it, until you reach the skylight. Fall
through it. If you fall off at any point, head back to where you started and
there should be a forklift you can use to climb upon. Be quick though, your
health will drop if you stay on the ground. Save again.

  iv. Redirected
Head through the door in front of you and take out the guards. Pass through
the doorframe into a large open area. As you pass by the large chainlink fence
guards will start shooting at you, ignore them and run away from them and
around a corner, and you should see a door in the far right of the area. Head
towards it and a cutscene is triggered, Sparks will give you more directions.
Continue on from the door towards a big fence. You can't climb it but there's
a room nearby. Run towards a window and press O to kick your way through it.
Head towards and then through the path littered with high stacks of boxes, and
some guards too. Automatically duck under the shutter in front of you, and
open the door. In this room, look on your left for a large window with some
guards on the other side. Kick your way through it, take them down, and search
for a door that should be on the left side of the room. Open it, head through
the storeroom and open another door, and you'll find yourself in a control
room of sorts. Press the red button on the console behind the workers, and
head towards the door furthest away from them, behind the one you came in.
Open it, and then the door just inside the room you enter, and then you can
 save again.

   v. Backtracking
Head downstairs, taking the guard out at the bottom. Open the door, turn left
and you'll be out in the sorting rooms again. It's a bit of a maze here, but
you should try and head as straight as possible, until you see the freight
elevator again. Turn left before you reach it, and go to the fence you climbed
at the beginning of Epicenter. Climb it again, and head for the door. In open
spaces like these it's useful to Focus Dive towards your opponent while
shooting. Do this by pressing up, hold down Focus and jump, shooting all the
while. Very useful. Take out the guards here and open the door. Save.

  vi. Got It!
This area should look familiar, it's where you first started. Take out any
guards you meet and look for the now working, ready and waiting lift. Hop in.
On the second floor are loads of PO boxes, the one's you're after will have a
little plaque above them with numbers near the one you need. You'll find them
about as far away from the lift as possible, in the far left corner of the
room. A cutscene will kick in, Ghost grabs the disk, but gets tear gassed
again. Luckily Niobe helps out with a few bursts from her shotgun, but now you
need to reach the lift. Take out the police as per usual and head for the
lift. As far as I can see you can't make it arrive any faster, so just wait
while keeping an eye out for more cops. Once downstairs you'll find the hall
empty, but try and leave and you'll get locked in, and the police will pour
into the room. Take them all out, it's easy, just keep moving and keep firing.
Once you're alone again, go through the door next to the lift, and follow
exactly the same route you took last time, up the stairs and through the doors
until you can save again. Do so.

 vii. Big Distraction
Sparks idea of a big distraction ruins your obvious escape route, so jump down
from the grating you're on, and head for the fiery debris. There's only one
route you can follow, although it may not look the case, so just follow it
around the remains of the sorting room, taking out all the guards you meet
along the way, which shouldn't be a problem, just focus and shoot, pick up any
ammo, then focus and shoot the next lot of guards. Finally you'll reach a door
so enter, head up the stairs and open the door. Save time again.

viii. Breakout!
Run like mad throughout this, there are a lot of guards, and they keep
respawning it seems. You're back in the control room, so run the length of it
and do a quick 180 to open the other door in the room. Pass through the store
room and out into the offices again. Do another 180 once you're out there and
you should see a door. Head towards it to trigger another cutscene. After
Ghost's impressive escape, Niobe picks you up in the Firebird and it's time to
 save again.

 b. City Driving
This is the first driving mission of the game, and as Ghost, you'll be in
charge of the gun. R1 to shoot, and you never need let go, infinite ammo for
  this.

   i. Get to the Hard Line
This is a pretty easy level, the AI will cover the driving, all you need to do
is target any cop cars that get near you, and destroy them with your nifty
machine gun. You shouldn't lose much health at all, just keep destroying cop
cars. One you hit the bridge you're home and dry. A cutscene starts, and Niobe
crashes the car after some nifty driving. Sparks tells you where the hard line
is, but as you escape on the roof to find it, an Agent appears...Save!

 c. City Rooftops
Barely a mission at all, but it's your first encounter with an Agent, which
makes up for it I guess.

   i. Answer the Phone
The first part of this is simple, just head straight. Climb up ladders, jump
a small gap, easy stuff. But then a cutscene kicks in and Ghost gets a helping
hand opening the door, and a smack to the face no less from an Agent. Time to
run away! If you keep moving the Agent will barely harm you, but it's not as
simple an escape as you might think. From the start head straight on, and
focus jump towards the ladder, climb up it. Head around the big hole and focus
jump some more across a large gap. Then focus jump again to reach a ladder.
From here's there only the obvious route. Just keep moving and eventually you
will end up back where you started, this time with no Agent. And so begins a
looong cutscene. You find out the details of the final flight of the Osiris,
and the fact is they've discovered a huge army of machines. Commander Lock
thanks Niobe, and Niobe decides to arrange a meeting within the Matrix for all
the captains, so they head to the airport where they can use all the different
 payphones without being traced.

 d. The Airport
Niobe and Ghost are busy making phone calls, but suddenly Niobe gets a call
from a crewmember of another ship. His fellow cremember Axel has been taken
by the Agents, and they've got his captain, Soren, backed into a corner.
Niobe decides to go and retreive Axel, while Ghost has to find Soren.

   i. Concourse
Now to begin with the security guards won't know you're a problem, but that
won't last long. As soon as you turn the corner and pass through the metal
detectors things will pick up again. Kill any guards that try and stop you and
run towards the concourse. Kill about three or four more guards, head to the
other end, and you'll have to turn left into the unblocked corridor. Pass
through the two sets of toilets, taking out some armoured cops along the way
and you should find yourself on another concourse. Deal with yet more cops and
again head down the concourse, taking the only unblocked corridor on your
left. Follow it around a corner, open the door and it's save time.

  ii. North Point
Once loaded, you'll see that in the room adjoined to the one you're in are a
group of three guards, unarmed for now. If you have any flash-bangs, you could
use them here, if not, just go in focused, all guns blazing, hehe. Take them
out, and then pick up the stun grenades in the far right corner of this room.
If you're having problems selecting them, press select and use that weapons
screen to choose them. Now look to right of the room, closest to the door you
entered through. There will be a dark corridor with two windows at the end of
it. Throw a stun grenade down there to blow up the windows, then jump through
back out onto a concourse. There'll be four guards to deal with, but just
focus, dive and shoot and they'll be finished. Head to the end of the
concourse and follow the route around onto the next bit. You'll see a
helicopter flying past outside. Keep moving forwards and four armoured cops
will attack, two jumping through a window. Inside the room they jump through
are some flash-bangs, which can be useful. Kill them, and move ahead, through
a doorway into the next area. Get about halfway in and you'll be asked to save
again. I suggest you do, next is your first boss...

 iii. North Point 2
Try and get near the exit of this room and it'll lockdown, and you'll be stuck
here. Not long after a helicopter will make a sweep of the room, firing a
machine gun at you which will kill you very quickly if you don't escape it.
The copters energy bar will appear along the top of the screen, keep an eye on
it. Now just before the helicopter is about sweep from right to left, hide
behind the wall on the right of the room, the helicopter won't be able to hit
you at all. As soon as he stops firing run from your cover and unload as much
lead as you can into it, you should be able to take down about half of his
energy. After that four SWAT members will drop down through the roof, just
focus as soon as you can see them and shoot away, you can take em down pretty
quickly, and use their weapons on the copter afterwards. Quickly hide behind
the same wall again, wait for the copter to stop firing, shoot at it some more
and that should be enough to destroy it. If not, just repeat those steps until
it goes down. This way you shouldn't lose any health whatsoever. As soon as it
goes down more guards will attack you. Take them down as normal and move
through the now unlocked door into the next bit of concourse. Keep moving and
you'll enter a store. Take out any more guards that get in your way and head
up the stairs on your left. Save.

  iv. Monorail
Run up the stairs, and if you look right a gate will block the first path, try
and head down the second and it'll tell you to use the first path. Confused?
Just run down the other stairs opposite the ones you came up, and then head
back to the first path, the gate should now be unlocked, and some SWAT members
waiting to take you out (and fail miserably). The rest is simple. Go allll the
way down the corridor, taking out any guards that stop you. Eventually you'll
reach the resataurant at the end of the tunnel, and you can save again.

   v. Revolving Restaurant
Another simple mission. After a cutscene with Ghost and Sparks you'll see your
escape ladder, and a grand piano. Take out any guards you can find in this
place, going upstairs and whatnot, and once you're satisfied, stand on the
piano...and wait...You'll automatically escape, and in another small cutscene
you'll find out where Soren is. Save again.

  vi. Terminal
To begin with, all it seems you can do is kill all the guards...so do so.
Eventually you'll get a message saying the first floor gate is open, although
I found it wasn't because I was standing right next to it...So once you get
that message, just go upstairs and downstairs till a gate right beneath where
you started opens up. Pass through that and go right, you'll be able to open a
big shutter. Do so and head out and right. More guards to kill. Keep heading
down this hallway until you reach a little group of TV's. Turn left here and
there should be a small path to some elevators, so head upstairs, killing the
guards at the top. Turn right from here and you'll be told Soren is close.
Turn right again and keep going all the way down this long stretch, taking out
any guards you like. At the end of the hall Soren will come out from a door,
kill a bunch of guards, and the mission will end. Save again.

 vii. Control Tower
Soren and Ghost are talking in a cutscene, when suddenly an Agent bursts
through a door, guards in tow. Before the guards can get to Ghost and Soren,
they escape up a control tower. When the action starts kill the guard in front
of you and grab his sniper rifle. Use the sniper rifle in 1st person view to
take out two guards that are on the metal stairs, close to building opposite
you, it's fairly easy. After you do that, head downstairs, killing a couple
more enemies until you see an open door. Head through there onto a balcony and
kill the soldier that's there, he won't see you coming. Now head back upstairs
into the control room. Save time.

viii. Control Tower 2
You'll get a phone call from Niobe, she wants you to do a favour. You'll see a
plane in the distance, and a car weaving around it. She wants you to shoot the
tyre out. This is pretty easy, whip your sniper rifle out, put it into 1st
person, zoom in as much as you can, focus so the plane slows right down, and
then aim to shoot slightly in front of where the plane is, so the bullet meets
the tyre nicely, admittedly the game lets you get away with it quite a bit
though. Another cutscene will start, showing your bullet taking out the tyre,
followed by the guards bundling Axel into a cop car, and an Agent seeing you
and flying towards you in a helicopter. Time for heli battle number two. This
one is easy though, simple wait until the copter starts shooting at you, focus
and shoot back with an automatic weapon. It's energy will drop quicker than
your health will and it should go down in one burst. Don't worry about the
health, just head downstairs to kick in another cutscene. Axel is on the plane
so you and Soren jump in a cop car each, you heading for the plane. It'll take
off, but not before a car manages to race into the hold. Save.

 e. The Aqueduct
Only one mission here, but it's one a lot of people have been having trouble
with. It's possible, you just need to be careful.

   i. Retreiving Axel
As soon as it loads, accelerate, and press triangle to change the view to a
3rd person perspective. Now you should see a path down the middle, try and
stick on that. Also, you need to be very careful when turning as the controls
are very twitchy. Make sure every time you go over a bump, you go over it
straight otherwise when you land you'll be sent into a spin, sometimes it'll
do it anyways. As you chase the plane it'll drop large objects in your path,
hit one and you'll almost certainly lose the plane. After about a minute and a
half you'll pass under two big bridges, after the second follow the watery
path left and go up the embankment onto a road that should be there. Follow
along this road. At this point you won't need to rush as the plane isn't a
problem anymore. Just follow along the bumpy path until you're forced to turn
left. Turn right to go through a tunnel, then turn right again and another
chase will be on, this time you chase an Agent. There's not much to tell you,
just keep going as fast as possible, follow the route the car your chasing
takes, and any time you think you're gonna jump, jump straight, don't turn!
Eventually another cutscene will start. Axel wakes up in the Agents car, puts
his seatbelt on and purposely crashes the car. The agents host body dies and
Axel is ok. You pick him up, and then you pick Niobe up, who's parachuting
down from the plane which will crash not long after. Save.

 f. The Sewers
Cutscene time. All the captains of the various ships meet up within the
Matrix, like the movie, but you get Niobe and Ghost's perspective. Niobe
tells everyone the machines are digging. The feds turn up and Niobe and Ghost
  make their escape.

   i. Abyss
In another cutscene, using the in-game graphics, Ghost escapes from a SWAT
guy firing at him by running down a sewer pipe. He slips and slides until he
reaches the end of the pipe, and the end of the cutscene. Once the game starts
you'll only have one way to go, so onto the pipe in front of you and follow
the path. Jump into the room, keep going. Follow the path around a bend and
climb up the ladder. Go around another bend and a long uphill straight. Do a
180 and follow the path around onto some steps. Go up these steps and along
another set, then up a ladder. Follow the path some more and around a small
platform, climbing up another ladder. As soon as you hit the top you need to
take out three guards, one in front of you and two across the abyss beneath
you. Follow the path and climb another ladder, be ready with your sniper rifle
though as there'll be three men trying to take out Ballard and if he dies, you
lose. Just focus and go into 1st person view and take each one out quickly.
Now head towards the big tower in the centre of the area, and in the middle
should be a ladder you can drop down. Do so and when you land run towards
Ballard, he'll use the hard line and disappear. Save

  ii. Abyss 2
In a cutscene Ghost has to hide from a group of guards who turn up by hanging
beneath the phone. When the game loads hop up and take out 4 guards posted in
the area. One is close to you, one is to the left, one to the right and one up
above you. Just use the sniper rifle to take them out as it will automatically
show you where they are. Once all four are dead answer the phone. You'll be
given some weapons and sent straight back into the Matrix as your help is
needed. Throw a grenade at the big fan once you're back in. It'll blow up and
give you a way through. Follow the sewer around a bend and head down the hole
 there. Save.

 4. Hacking Mode

Once you have a saved game, you can enter hacking mode, a fun, although simple
DOS shell, within which you can 'hack' the Matrix. Supposedly there's a lot of
stuff to unlock, and here I'll take you through what I've worked out.

The controls are simple, press X over any character/option and you will type or
choose it, L1 takes you to the command list on the left and R1 puts you on the
return button. Triangle does the same as EXIT within the game.

When you start you will only have access to Drive A, with only the HELP and
EXIT commands. Press L1, select HELP and then hit return to see an explanation
of the command, and an example, namely HELP DIR. Use that example, and just
type in DIR. This brings up the directory of the A drive. From now on you can
use DIR to see every available folder you have access to.

Open SYSTEM:
REBOOT.EXE (Clears any commands you've got, effectively wipes the comp)
 HELP.EXE (Already have)
CLS.EXE (When used, clears the screen)
 LOGIN.EXE (Used later)
 DIR.EXE (Already have)
EXIT.EXE (Use to exit hacking mode)
READ.EXE (Use to read any .txt files)
ECHO.EXE (Use to make the comp type a line of anything you enter into it)

To add a command to your list, just type in the first part, e.g. ECHO.

Now open TOOLS:
VIBRATION.EXE (Make your controller vibrate at a certain level)
BEEP.EXE (Make up a series of beeps using numbers between 1 and 8)
CHEAT.EXE (Allows you to enter a cheat code)

Now open TEXT. You can use the READ command to read:
NOTE2.TXT (Obtain VIRTUAL Drive password: FROZENFISH)
MANUAL1.TXT ('Instructions' on how to use the computer)
MANUAL2.TXT (The rest of the 'Instructions' and a website link)
PASSWORD.TXT (Tells you to go to two sites, and gives you a code)

The code in PASSWORD.TXT can be used, as shown in the cheats section of my
guide, go look!

Now use LOGIN and enter your password as GUEST. Drive B is now accessable! If
you log in with the password FREEMIND you'll get a little message from Morpheus
for you troubles.

Open TOOLS and you will be asked for a five digit binary access code. It's
random, so enter in 00000, it'll tell you how many digits you have right, and
how many in the right place. Keep at it until you get it right, it's simple.

In TOOLS there is:
VIEW.EXE (Allows you to view any .img file)
VIRTUAL.EXE (Upon using, asks you for password, i.e. FROZENFISH, enter for
              access)
TRACEKILL.EXE (Kills any trace programs, oddly enough)
DROP.EXE (Use this with a code to perform weapon drops within the Matrix)
PLAY.EXE (Allows you to play any .fmv files)
DECODE.EXE (Enter with a correct code to..decode it)

Within the ID folder in the B drive are a bunch of images, most of which become
unlocked as you progress through the game. Use the VIEW command on each to view
info about that character. In the GUNS folder are image files of all the guns
in the game, again, unlocked as you progress. In the FMV folder are all the FMV
sequences in the game, use the PLAY command on these to view them. In MAPS are
various maps of areas from the game, use VIEW to see them. In each one is a
code to be entered using the DROP command, that makes a weapon drop at the
point specified on the map. CARS contains the cars from the game, use VIEW to
view details on them all.

Now that you've found some goodies, use the VIRTUAL command, enter the password
FROZENFISH when prompted and you'll be faced with a Kanji puzzle. One big
square cut into 9 small squares. Highlight and press X on one to change it.
Simple puzzle, but depending on which of the 3 symbols you make, you will get a
different solution. One solution is totally wrong and resets the symbols. One
is the RED solution, and will allow you access to Drive V if you find it. If
you get the BLUE solution, you'll receive a warning from Morpheus and then have
to type in TRACEKILL before the timer runs out, you'll need to be fairly quick.

Now you have access to Drive V, open the TOOLS folder of it, and you'll find:
ROOTSEARCH.EXE (Run and you'll be given ROOT access with a password
                 THISISNOTREAL)
DIAL.EXE (Enter this with a number to dial it)

Open up ROOT and you'll get:
MAIL.EXE (Run this and enter the password above to gain access)
PORTKEY.EXE (Run this with a correct three digit number for a surprise)

Enter the MAIL command, followed by THISISNOTREAL for the password. When asked
type Y, you do want to read the email. It contains four phone numbers:
 001-949-555-0112
 001-714-555-0187
 001-213-555-0142
 001-310-555-0111

Now use the DIAL command, and dial these numbers. The first one leads to a
wrong number sound, the second makes a noise as if were connecting to the net
with a modem. The third number gives you a message from Morpheus, saying you've
set off a flag in the system, his way of saying you're doing well really. The
fourth and final number is an automated message from Trinity. You've tapped
into a hard line drop box apparently, and she gives you the code 942.

Go back into ROOT, and use the PORTKEY command. Use it by typing PORTKEY xxx,
xxx being a 3 digit number. Use the code 942, and you'll enter a kind of
interactive conversation with Trinity. Eventually she'll give you instructions
on how to access your RAM drive. She gives you CRACK.EXE which is in the ROOT
folder of the V drive. Go ahead and use the CRACK command, followed by 8RAM,
and you will have access to your RAM drive.

Open up the TRINITY folder and you'll find:
TRAINING.EXE (Allows you to force a .dsk file into the Matrix)
HANDSHAKE.EXE (Starts off a funny interactive conversation with Sparks)
READBIO.EXE (Allows you to read any .bio files)

Open up the PROG folder and you'll find nothing, at least until you complete
the game, when a SWORD.DSK file appears.

Open up the BIO folder and you'll find the .bio file for whichever character
you're using, inside of which are basic details about your saved game, such as
shots fired, kills etc.

So now open the HANDSHAKE command, and you will enter a conversation with
Sparks. Your responses make little difference to how it goes. Once he's done
you now have access to the LOGOS drive. Open the ART folder for a bunch of
conceptual art you can see with the VIEW command. Open the SPARKS folder and
all that's inside is the EMP command. Run it. Turns out Sparks is a funny guy,
but for being a nice guy, he unlocks a present for you, and gives you a message
from Neo, saying you posess great skills and whatnot, and to follow the white
rabbit. Sparks will finish talking, and your hacking is done for now.

The present he unlocks is in the 'Load Game' section, press left when on the
Post Office level to find various multiplayer scenarios. Very cool.

 6. Characters

Niobe - She is the captain of the Logos, and one of the characters you play as
in this game. Outside of the driving and flying missions, has pretty much
identical abilities as Ghost when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.

Ghost - The First Mate of the Logos, and the other main character you'll use
in the game. Has a thing for weapons and is always cool and collected.

Sparks - He is the third crewman of the Logos, and is Ghost and Niobes
operator during their missions within the Matrix. He's got a good sense of
humour, but is always ready to help with any advice and the like.

Smith - Almost identical to the other agents, although he no longer has an
earpiece as Neo has freed him from the system. Can make copies of himself, and
 destroy other agents.

Agent Jackson - One of the three main agents out to kill you. As per normal,
he wears a suit and tie, sunglasses and an earpiece, and has the ability to
take over the body of anyone within the Matrix.

Agent Johnson - The same as Agent Jackson, a fellow agent out to destroy the
 rebels.

Agent Thompson - The same as Agent Jackson and Johnson, yet another agent out
 to kill you.

Neo - The One. You don't really see much of him in the game, apart from the
occasional cutscene, which is a shame, but makes sense in a way.

Morpheus - Captain of the Nebuchadnezzar, he is the one who found The One (yes
that makes sense). Again, you don't see much of him, although you can play
with him in Multiplayer, and he shows up in the occasional cutscene.

Trinity - First Mate of the Nebuchadnezzar, she is Neo's girlfriend, although
her and Ghost seem to have something going on too, *wink wink*. She features a
little more strongly in the game, which is nice.

Axel - A fellow rebel who you help save from the agents, a crewmember of the
 Vigilant.

Soren - Captain of the Vigilant. Pretty greatful that you save Axel.

Ballard - A fellow rebel who you help protect in the sewers. Also the captain
 of a ship.

Ice - Another rebel who needs your help in the sewers.

Corrupt - Yet another rebel who you help. Bit hopeless these guys are.

The Twins - A pair of albino twins, all dressed in white, who possess some
interesting powers. Out to kill you too.

The Merovingian - A program gone bad. During the game you play through some
 levels in his Chateau.

Persephone - A vampire of sorts who dislikes her husbands activities, but
feeds on emotions rather than blood.

The Oracle - A program who knows pretty much everything, looks like the kind
of grandparent you wished you had because she'd own everyone else in the home.

Seraph - The protector of the Oracle, not fond of handshakes.

Press all four shoulder buttons simultaneously in Hacking mode to unlock
everything. It should work, but only in the PAL version of the game. Kinda
ruins the fun though, and I don't think they meant for this code to work, as it
says to be removed from the final version, oops!

 8. Multiplayer

Complete Hacking mode and Sparks will reward you with this multiplayer mode.
Have two controllers plugged in, then load the game you completed Hacking mode
with. On the Select Level screen, keep pressing left past The Post Office and
you will have 7 different multiplayer levels to choose from. Each level has two
different characters for you to fight as. Unfortunately you can't use focus in
these fights, but you can have a lot of fun with them. Here's each location and
your character choice:

The Subway : Morpheus vs. Agent Smith
This arena fairly closely resembles the subway scene from The Matrix.

The Dojo : Niobe vs. Trinity
This arena fairly closely resembles the dojo in which Morpheus and Neo fight
 fairly early in The Matrix.

The Pit : Seraph vs. Ballard
A rather dustier version of the pit in which you fight Cujo.

The Ballroom : Niobe vs. Ghost
You fight in a ballroom taken from Le Chateau where the Merovingian lives.

The Bedroom : Cujo vs. Vlad
A really sparse bedroom from Le Chateau.

The Atrium : Sewing Woman vs. Janitor
A rather odd fight between two surprisingly athletic people takes place in a
 big glass hall.

The Alley : Firebird Man vs. PoliceCar Man
You thought the last fight was odd? Check out the two transformer like cars
battling it out in some dingy backstreet.

 9. Frequently Asked Questions

•How do I do this/that/random thing?
Read the relevant part of the FAQ, it'll be there most likely, assuming I've
covered that part of the game.

•My game freezes/refuses to load, what's wrong?
Don't use any cheats in game, these supposedly can cause problems. Make sure
it isn't your PS2, if neither work, you're stuffed.

•Why isn't this game all about Neo, Morpheus and Trinity?! That's why I wanted
 this game!
If you got to play as Neo, the game would be far too easy, and the idea of
this game is to help expand your knowledge of the goings on in the Matrix,
filling in gaps you would otherwise have. Just enjoy the fact you can do
everything you gawped at in the films.

•Why can't I play with a sword yet? I know what to do!
You need to complete the game before the SWORD.DSK file will appear.

•What's with the echoey cutscenes?
Just a glitch in the coding of the game. Possibly related to using focus as a
  cutscene starts.

•Can I play Hacking without completing the game?
Yes, you just need a save game to use it with.
