1. Introduction
============================

Wow It's finally here. The moment I've been waiting for since I beat Mundus
with only a small amount of life left on Dante Must Die mode. Devil May Cry
2 Rocks! I didn't think that it would be able to live up to the first one,
but it does. Dare I even say that it surpasses its predecessor on the
wow-o-meter. I had to start a guide for this game, and here it is, hope ya
like it.

===========================
2. Controls, Tips, and
Crucial Knowledge
===========================
 +++++++++++
 I. Controls
 +++++++++++

Left Analog stick: Moves Dante or Lucia.

X button: Jump. Tap X again while in the air to perform a double jump.
While in Devil Form, tap X button to go higher when you are in flight.

Square: Shoot. Unlike in the first game, you no longer have to hold down R1
in order to shoot.

Circle: Dodge, also used to run up the wall and do a kick flip. Strafe while
airborne.

Triangle: Attack with Melee weapon.

R1: Brings sword into ready position. Use to do different special moves.

R2: Turn off auto-targeting.

L1: Devil Trigger on/off.

L2: Switch guns.

L3: Switch targets while holding R1.

 +++++++++++++++++
 II. Special Moves
 +++++++++++++++++

Devil Trigger: Character has small amount of superpowers for a short period
of time. This causes your attacks to become much stronger and usually faster.
Dante's pistols are able to shoot rapid fire while in Devil Trigger mode
(hereby known as DT).

Super DT: Only Dante is able to do this. When his health is in the red, DT
and Dante will be able to transform into Sparda. Dante will immediately
start flying, and he will now have some new abilities. When you press the
Square button, Dante will shoot fireballs from his hands. These are very
powerful, and will kill most enemies instantly. He will also be able to use
a very long, red sword if you press Triangle. You will not be able to turn
this DT off, it will only stop when the gauge runs dry. This is great as a
last ditch effort for fighting bosses.

Special DT Stinger: Only Dante is able to do this. While DT'd, press the
Attack button 2 times, and then press back on the control stick and hold
attack. You should see Dante start to charge up his punch, and then do
about six or seven supercharged stingers while he is punching the enemy.
This attack can hit multiple enemies.

DT Energy shot: Thanks to Demon Slayer 50000 for this move and the next
one. While in DT mode, press triangle and square at the same time you will
power up, releasing an aura that will hit all enemies near you. You can do
this on the ground, or while flying. Only Lucia can perform this move.

DT Charge up Shot: While DT'd, hold R1 and press triangle and square at the
same time; Lucia will power up and shoot a giant beam out of his chest.
Only Lucia can perform this move.

Targeting 2 enemies at once: You must be between two separate enemies for
this to work. While shooting at one enemy, point your control stick at
another enemy and continue to fire in order to shoot at both enemies at once.
Dante will shoot in a different style depending upon where the enemy is.

Running up walls: Hold the circle button as you approach the wall. You should
run up the wall a little ways, and then kick flip off backwards. You can shoot
while you are falling back to the ground, just press R2 to lock on to the
target.

Flying: You must be in DT form to do this. Continually press the X button to
go higher in flight. To descend, you either have to wait to float down, or
toggle your DT off. Press the attack button while in the air to send your
sword on a round trip, where you throw your sword to damage an enemy, and it
comes back to you after a period of time. Press circle while flying to
strafe.

Dodging: Press the Circle button to do a diving role forward. Press back on
the control stick, and continually press the Circle button to do successive
back flips. Finally, pressing left or right on the control stick plus the
dodge button causes your character to do cartwheels in that direction.

Swimming: Only Lucia swims. Press X to go higher, and Circle to go lower.
You cannot fire your normal weapons under water, and if you press Triangle,
Lucia will do two forward slashes. Find the swimming heart to DT under water
and swim faster.

  ----------------
  a. Sword attacks
  ----------------
(Some attacks are different while DTed)

Stinger: Hold R1 and press in any direction and attack to cause the character
to rush forward and stab an enemy. The length of this increases when the
character is DTed.

High Time: Hold R1 and attack to make Dante or Lucia launch the enemy into
the air.

Spinning slash: press Triangle Triangle wait Triangle wait Triangle Triangle
to make Dante do two down slashes, follow it up with an up slash, and then
finish the move with a horizontal spin slash.

3 hit combo: Hold back on the control stick, press triangle and then tap
triangle two more times. The result should be two horizontal slashes,
followed by a spinning horizontal slash. When DTed: a horizontal strike,
followed up by a stinger, and then

4 hit combo: Press Triangle 4 times in rhythmic succession. This should result
in 3 diagonal slashes, followed by a spinning diagonal slash.

5 hit combo: Press Triangle 3 times in rhythmic succession, then hold the
stick back and double tap Triangle. Dante should do 3 diagonal slashes, a
down slash, and then a High Time. When DTed: It is the same, except that the
last two hits are replaced by two stabs down, then a kick from Dante. The
most useful combo in my opinion.

Jump attack: If you press attack 3x while in the air, you will do two
kicks, and then perform a downward slash.

 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++
 III. Orbs and Devil Hearts
 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  ---------------
  a. devil hearts
  ---------------

All devil hearts increase some aspect of the DT mode.

Electro heart: after you activate your devil trigger, this item enables the
character to do lightning attacks. Dante has this from the beginning, Lucia
finds this in mission 5.

Frost Heart: Adds a Frost elemental attack to your melee weapons. Lucia
begins equipped with this. Dante can find it in mission 16.

Flame Heart: Enables you to do flame attacks. The most powerful elemental
heart. Lucia finds this in mission 5, Dante in mission 7.

Aerial Heart: Allows your character to fly by pressing X. Found in
mission 2.

Quick Heart: Increases your speed. Dante finds this in mission 4, Lucia in
mission 8.

Offense Heart: Increases the amount of damage you do and the range of your
attacks. Dante finds this in mission 5, Lucia in mission 4.

Healing Heart: Increases the speed in which you regain health while DT'd.
Lucia finds this in mission 3, Dante finds it in mission 11.

Chrono Heart: The Chrono Heart has the ability so stop time while you are
attacking enemies with your swords. Dante finds this in mission 15, Lucia in
mission 11.

Aqua Heart: Only Lucia finds this heart, it allows you to swim faster
underwater, and to attack underwater in DT. You find this in mission 7.

  -------
  b. orbs
  -------

Orbs can be found by killing enemies, smashing objects, or sometimes they are
just lying around somewhere.

Green orbs: Increase your health

Red orbs: Used to purchase health items and new moves.

White orbs: these orbs refill your devil gauge.

Holy Water: I've only gotten this once, but it instantly kills every enemy
in the room.

===========================
3. Back Story
===========================

Devil May Cry ended with Dante and Trish going into business together. Well,
we don't know where Trish is now, but Dante has been summoned to Dumar Island
in order to stop some rich business man from turning it into a "Devil's
playground".

===========================
4. Characters
===========================

Dante- We all remember this guy. Dante's mother and brother were killed by
evil, causing him to become a freelance Demon Hunter. Dante's father was a
demon, which is why Dante has a small amount of super powers.

Lucia- A strange women that Dante meets during his journey. She somehow
knows that Dante is the son of Sparda. She fights with knives.

Matier- The old woman that called Dante to this town. She apparently fought
alongside Sparda and helped him defeat an old evil.

Arius- A strange man in a white suit who carries a gun. Dante is sent to stop
him from conquering the world.

===========================
5. Weapons
===========================

 ++++++++++++++++
 I. Melee weapons
 ++++++++++++++++

Rebellion- Dante's default sword and the most balanced of the swords in terms
of reach, speed, and power. This sword is not very powerful at low levels,
but it is more than enough to get you through the first part of the game.

Vendetta- Another one of Dante's swords. This is Dante's most powerful sword,
but it also has the shortest reach and the slowest movement. A must have for
bosses. This sword is found in mission 7 in the oil derrick.

Merciless- The last sword that Dante can find. This one has a slightly longer
reach than any of the other swords. Found in mission 11 above the ceiling
spikes, or in mission 14 near where Dante jumped that gap on his
motorcycle.

Cutlaseer- Lucia's default weapons. These blades have a short reach which
means that you'll have to get up close and personal when using them.

Klyamores- These blades have a longer reach than Lucia's default weapon. They
also seem to be a little more powerful. Once you get these, you shouldn't
need to use the Cut's again. You can find these in mission 3, in the same
room that Dante first fought Orrenguerra.

Zambak- The most powerful blades that Lucia can find. These blades are
strong but slower than her other blades. Still, they are a must have. You
can find these in mission 10 near where Dante jumped over the broken road
with his motorcycle.

 ++++++++++++
 II. Firearms
 ++++++++++++

(note that all of the firearms have unlimited ammo, just like in the first
game.)

Ebony & Ivory- Dante's trusted firearms make a return and they seem to have
been improved since his last adventure. Dante can now shoot multiple targets
at once with the guns. While DTed, these pistols become automatic. All you
have to do is hold down square, and the guns will fire at lightning speed.
This is Dante's default weapon

Sub-machineguns- Dual sub-machineguns that Dante can use just like Ebony &
Ivory. Very useful because of their incredibly fast rate of fire. You can
pick enemies apart in seconds with these guns. Very useful against the final
bosses. There is a small amount of recoil when you stop firing. These guns
are found in mission 11 but if you miss them, you can pick them up again in
mission 17.

Shotgun- Just like the shotgun from the first game, this gun packs a punch.
It does however have a slower recoil than most of the weapons, so if you
prefer speed and maneuverability, stick to the subs. If you have your
dodging and timing down right however, this weapon can become very deadly in
your hands. The Shotgun is found in mission 5.

Rocket Launcher- The most powerful weapon Dante can find, and therefore the
slowest and heaviest one too. This gun has a terrible recoil, and you cannot
fire this from the air. This gun is a must have for some of the bosses in the
game because of its sheer power. The Rocket launcher is found in Mission 9.
If you miss it, you can pick it up again in Mission 14

Throwing knives- Lucia's default weapons. These knives are more powerful than
the handguns, and they work very well when Lucia needs to perform a long
range attack.

Darts- These are less powerful than the knives, but Lucia is able to throw
out multiple darts at a time. Leveling up causes Lucia to throw more knives
and increases the speed in which she throws them. At higher levels, these are
very useful when fighting multiple enemies at once or flying enemies. They
can be found in mission two inside one of the breakable statues.

Cranky Bombs- These bombs can be set down or thrown depending upon how
hard you are holding down the left analog stick when you throw them. These
only come in handy if you are fighting a large group of enemies in an
enclosed room, like the Bloody Palace. Other wise these things are too
unpredictable to be practical. These can be found in mission 5 inside a box
in the plane.

Bow gun- This gun can only be used underwater. It fires a quick burst of
bolts at the enemy. This gun isn't that powerful, but it’s the only choice
you have when underwater. You can find this in mission 6.

===========================
6. Items and their use
===========================

Vital Star S: adds a small amount of health back to your meter.

Vital Star L: Recovers a large amount of health.

Devil Star S: Recovers a small amount of Devil Trigger Gauge.

Devil Star L: Recovers a large amount of Devil Trigger Gauge.

Blue orbs: Increases your vitality meter.

Purple orbs: Increases your Devil Trigger meter.

Yellow orbs: Resurrect you if you die.

Holy Star: Cures poison status.

Tears of Fear: Makes you invincible for three hits.

===========================
7. Enemies and Bosses
===========================

 ++++++++++
 I. Enemies
 ++++++++++

Agnofinis, Terreofinis, and Mortfinis: Iron maiden like skeletons. These guys
are allot like the Marionettes from the first game, i.e. they're slow, easy to
kill, and you'll be seeing allot of them. Sometimes these guys have hatchets
or swords that they hit you with, and sometimes they are wielding shields
that they throw at you like yo-yos. If you get too close, they will suck you
inside them, and spin you around until they slam you back on the ground. Use
your melee weapons to defeat them, high times work the best.

Puiar: These vulture like creatures can attack you while you are performing
air attacks. Don't think your safe on the ground either, as they can
sometimes fire meteors at you, and claw you to death. The best way to kill
these guys is to shoot them with your guns or knives. Don't even try using
your swords, its pointless as you'll never hit them unless they are coming in
close to the ground to attack you. Don't use your Rocket Launcher either,
you'll never hit them.

Msira, Homromsira, Ghusmsira, and Jomothumsira: These guys can be tough if
you let them surround you. All of them have a standard slash attack that
can damage you. The Homromsira have fire punches but they only do a little
bit more damage. The Ghusmsira try to jump on the walls and poison you, but
they rarely do this. Jump up and slash them if they do. The Jomothumsira
are the most difficult, but they're still not that much of a threat. The
best way to kill these enemies is to use the shotgun or the darts in
conjunction with your sword for if they get to close.

Pyromancer, Auromancer, and Brontomancer: These guys only do elemental
attacks. They will light up a circle in front of them that will turn
different colors for different attacks. Red means fire blast, white is
several ice homing shots, and blue is lightning from the sky. Use your
sword to attack these guys.

Flambat: Small fire bats that do little damage. Just use your guns against
these guys, it's useless to try and hit them with your sword.

Demonchorus: Little bugs that fly around. If you start to light up yellow,
then run around or dodge because they will cause fire to come up where you
were. Use the shotgun on them, or if they are close to the ground you can
hit them with your swords.

Spicer: Spheres that explode if you get to close to them, or if you shoot
them. Stay far away and take them out with one shot.

Infestant: These guys can jump up and grab your face, so don't let your
guard down when you are around them. These guys don't attack much as long
as you stay in their face with your swords.

Erupt Cells: Jellyfish like creatures that split into 4 smaller creatures
when hit. The best tactic is to stay back and use your bow gun. If you get
too close, they will shock you.

Blades: These only appear under water, and their only attack is their
ability to shoot their claws at you. Get up close, and kill them with your
swords.

 ++++++++++++++
 II. Sub-bosses
 ++++++++++++++

Goatlings, Blood Goats, and Abyss Goats: Goat-like demons. These guys are
tough early on in the game. They are able to fly, and they are just as
dangerous in the air as they are on the ground. When in the air, these
enemies have the ability to do a charged up, homing energy attack. As soon as
you see them start to glow with yellow energy, start dodging, or fire at
them in hopes that you'll knock them out of the sky or stun them. They can
also cause blue energy to come up out of the floor. Quick dodging is the only
way to avoid getting injured, and you must use your firearms to make them
stop. While on the ground, they are able to do an overhead slash, or a side
slash. If you hit them with your sword, you should be able to stun them, and
get in a few more attacks. Always try to keep the Goatlings on the ground.
If you are up against more than one at a time, dodge out of the way after
every two or three hits, and start slashing again. Try to use stingers and
high times to separate them, and then take them on one on one. If you're
Dante, use the shotgun when they are in the air to bring them down.

Infested Tank: Only Lucia fights this as a boss, Dante fights it as a
sub-boss. This tank can fire missiles or a flame thrower attack from its
turret. If you jump up on top of it, then it will fire its machine gun at
you. Those are its only attacks. These guys are pretty easy as long as you
are only fighting one of them. If it is one on one, just dodge until you are
behind it and then start attacking. When the turret turns toward you, just
dodge until you are behind it again. If you are fighting more than one, just
be sure to dodge after every combo attack.

Infested Chopper: Only Dante fights this boss. You'll have limited moving
space, so be sure not to fall off of the building. The chopper will almost
always be firing its machine gun at you. If you see it coming at you, dodge
out of the way. It will also fire homing rockets at you, which you will have
to avoid, or shoot down with your guns. The best way to kill him is to
constantly keep shooting him with Ebony and Ivory while moving with the
joystick. If the chopper comes directly over you, then you should jump up and
do a sword combo. When your DT is full, use it and start shooting at the
chopper. Finally, don't jump up to high when you are near the chopper, or its
blades will injure you.

Friki & Geri: These wolves always travel in pairs. They will always be
moving around the room, and if you get in front of them, then you will get
hit. Sometimes they stop and howl. This means that they are going to do a
plowing attack forward. Move around behind them and start slashing. If you
are near them, then you should slash them, but if your hits don't connect
then you should bring out the shotgun and start firing.

Savage Golem: These guys are annoying because they will heal themselves if
you stop attacking them. If it looks like they are hugging themselves, then
dodge away because spikes will come from their bodies. They can also cause
spikes to come out of the floor. Rarely, they will spit poison at you. Stay
at a distance, and blast them with your shotgun or your Throwing Daggers
until their health is in the red. Then move in and attack with your sword.
Don't stop until they are dead, or they will run off and regenerate.

 +++++++++++
 III. Bosses
 +++++++++++

Plutonian & Tartarussian: This is Lucia's first boss, and he has annoying
giant swinging maces for hands. Most of the time he'll just swing these at
you and try to hit you, nothing some quick dodging can't handle. If he
raises both of them over his head, then that means that he is going to
swing them down in your direction. If you see him bring one of them down
beside him, then that means that he is going to use it like a bowling ball.
Getting to close to him will cause him to hit you with a horizontal swing.
Standing still is a definite No-No for this fight. Basically just jump or
dodge out of the way whenever you see him start to move one of his arms.
Wait till he attacks before you move in for a few quick slashes, and then
quickly move away or you'll be hit. When your DT gauge is full, move in
and begin attacking in DT mode. He will not be unable to attack you while
you are attacking him in DT mode.

Later, when you fight him again and when Dante fights him, their will be some
Agonofinis in the room, and lasers will shoot out of the wall. Just dodge to
avoid the lasers.

Orangguerra: A large guerrilla that attacks Dante in the Train station. This
guy can be kinda tough if you don't stay on the move. His main attack happens
when he starts climbing on the ceiling. He'll climb over to you, and attempt
to jump down on you. He can also drop glass down on you if you are directly
under him. To prevent this, quickly jump up and strike him down with your
sword. His other attacks are an overhead swing, and a horizontal swing. To
avoid these, simply dodge behind him, and strike him with your sword. To
beat him, just keep dodging and slashing until your devil trigger gauge is
filled. Then DT, and get up in his face for some up close and personal
slashing. As long as you are DT'd your swings should stun him so that he
cannot attack you. Use your guns only while he is on the ceiling, or while
you are jumping. If you just stand still and shoot, then you are going to get
hit. His last attack, which he rarely uses, is a clear, energy shot that
comes out of his mouth. If he stops moving, then he is probably going to
use it. Just dodge if you have time to, this move is hard to dodge if you
are up close to him.

Later when you fight him, he will be a little easier because he won't be able
to jump up to the ceiling. When Lucia fights him, Follow the same strategy,
but only use your throwing knives if you have to. They are too slow and
too weak. It's much easier to just alternate between dodging and hitting
until your DT maxes up, then let loose.

Jokatguin: This boss has four tentacles, which it uses to attack you. If the
tentacle starts to swoop along the bottom, just jump out of the way. If one
of the tentacles goes up inside its body, then it is going to shoot out, and
you should dodge to avoid it. The only other attacks he has, is a poisonous
spray that it can shoot out, or surround its body with. Also, if you attack
it too much, it will generate a temporary force field to knock you back. The
best way to attack it is to constantly shoot at it while you are dodging its
tentacles. When one of the tentacles takes enough damage, it will be stunned
and it will drop its poison cloud. Now you should jump in and start attacking
while DTed if possible. Don't attack for too long however, as its poison
cloud will be back just as soon as it regenerates its limbs. Repeat this, and
it won't take too long to die. As long as you stay on the move, you won't
take too much damage. An easier way to fill your DT gauge is to attack his
tentacles with your sword. Just be sure not to stand around them too long.

Nefasturris and Nefascapitis: This boss just looks intimidating, he's
actually a piece of cake. For the first part of the battle, your shotgun
will be your best friend. Just constantly stay shooting him to whittle away
his life. When you get the chance, DT and fly over to him so that you can
attack him. His main attack is a giant laser that he shoots out of his mouth.
The best way to avoid this is simply to jump over it when it comes your way.
Sometimes it surrounds itself with bats so that you can't get close to it.
Just wait for them to leave, or shoot them if you have to. The attack to
watch out for is his multi laser attack. This one is tough to dodge, but if
you see him getting ready to do it, just start tapping the dodge button.
After you defeat it, you will have to fight its disembodied head. The head
will fly around shooting easily dodged energy at you. Shoot it with your
shotgun while it is doing this. When it lands on the ground, dodge around
until you are behind it, or you will be hit by the multi laser attack. DT
when you are behind it, and start attacking it with your sword. After a
while, it will start shooting horizontal and vertical electricity at you.
Jump over the horizontal ones and dodge around the vertical ones.

Furiataurus: Only Dante fights this flame-based boss. Equip your offence
heart and your quick heart for this fight. This boss has a charging attack
which is just barely dodge able. If you can dodge it though, you will be in
prime position to start attacking his backside. Don't attack for too long
though, or he will turn around and swing his scepter in front of him to hit
you. Another attack he has is when he jumps up into the air and slams into
the ground, causing a ring of fire to encircle him. If you see him start to
jump up, jump clear of the ring, and start shooting him with your shotgun.
Sometimes he'll start spraying fire out of his mouth, just dodge out of the
way and start attacking him to avoid this. Sometimes, he will wave his arm
around and cause the ground around him to catch fire. You will know that this
is coming when the ground turns orange. He will then start swinging his staff
around and try to suck you into the fire. Just run in the opposite direction
to avoid this. Once your DT gauge is full, start attacking him with your
sword, and you should be able to stun him so that he can't attack you while
you are hitting him.

Nochpteran and Larva: A giant moth and his babies. The moth doesn't really
have any attacks, but he does have the ability to lay Larva on the ground,
and they will attack you. The Larva will run straight at you and attempt to
swallow you. If this happens, start mashing buttons, and Dante will rip his
way out of the Larva, killing them instantly. The Larva can also come up out
of the ground Tremors style and hurt you. This is the best time to attack
them if you are able to dodge out of the way. When you are fighting the
Larva, just stay in the air, and always do a downward slash to hurt them.
Your first priority however, should be to take care of the moth. You'll need
the shotgun or the Throwing Daggers for this and the Aerial Heart. Jump up
in the air, and blast him, then slash down or shoot the larva to build your
Devil gauge. When it is full, DT and fly up towards the moth. Now start
shooting and its health should dwindle pretty fast. If you manage to kill
one of the Larva, the moth will fly down to lay another one. This is the
only time that you can hit it with your sword. When the moth is dead, you
will have to fight 6 Larva before the fight ends. Stay in the air, and use
the tactics that I have given you to kill them. Use your DT whenever
possible, and start slashing them. Or you could just let them swallow you
and then rip them apart if you have allot of health.

Tateobesu: Only Lucia fights this boss, and she fights him underwater. He
has the power to turn himself invisible, and while you wont be able to
target him, you can still see him pretty well. The best thing to do when
this happens is to just fire your bow gun in his general direction. It will
try to hit you with its tail while it is invisible, so just swim away when
you see his tail turn white. When he reappears, he will try to charge you
and bite you. Stop shooting and swim up as fast as you can, if done
successful, he will miss you and you will be able to shoot him. Whenever
you can, DT and start shooting him to make the fight go by much quicker.
The best time to DT is whenever you have just dodged one of his charges.

Bolverk with Friki & Geri: Only Dante fights this boss. Equip the quick
heart and the offence heart for this battle. The main problem you will have
is that Dante constantly locks on to the wolves and not Bolverk. You may
want to concentrate all of your attacks on the wolves until they are dead.
Never stand still during this fight, you should always be dodging unless you
are attacking the boss. This boss has several damaging attacks. He is able
to make his spear 10 times longer, and then slash at you with it. He only
does this if you shoot him, so using guns are out of the question. He can
also charge across the room and plow into you. This move is hard to dodge
because of the bad camera angles. Sometimes he will make energy come out of
the floor in front of him, so dodge if the floor turns black. He can do an
overhead slash, a side slash, and a multi stab with his sword, which are all
easily avoided as long as you stay behind him. The best tactic is to
constantly hit him with the Vendetta. If you accidentally target one of the
wolves, dodge until you are back behind Bolverk. If you are hitting him,
then normally he can't hit you. DT whenever possible to do massive amounts
of damage with your sword. The only difference between the first and second
battle is the size of the rooms. The second battle takes place in a very
confined room, which makes this boss extra difficult.

Arius: He is actually pretty easy. His main attack is his gun, which does
very little damage. He can also cause spikes to come out of the floor, and
sometimes cause Dante to be sucked into a portal and thrown across the room.
The problem is that he summons other enemies to attack you while you are
fighting him. In the first fight, he summons Jomothumsira and Blood Goats,
and in the second fight he summons Jomothumsira and Lucias. The Lucias are
the hardest because they can do multiple slashes, and the enemies numbers
may overwhelm you. Try not to target them when you are fighting. If Arius
teleports himself to another side of the room, use your sub machineguns or
Throwing Daggers to blast him while you are walking over there. If you are
next to him, then just start slashing with your sword to take away allot of
his life. DT whenever possible to do massive damage.

Phantom: Phantom is back and he has basically the same moves as last time.
If you get too close to Phantom's mouth, he will hit you with his claws, or
impale you with his tail. He also has a jump attack where he will try to
crush you. Just start dodging to avoid this. If Phantom sticks his head
into the ground, start running because 3 or 4 lava columns will come up out
of the ground. When Phantom's mouth starts to glow, dodge behind him
because he is going to shoot a fireball. If he shoots a fire ball into the
air, then start running because it is going to crash back down. Equip the
quick heart and the offence heart for this fight, and your sub machineguns or
the Throwing Daggers. Shoot Phantom if you are far away from him, or
whenever you are in the air. Slash at his head one or two times, but quickly
dodge out of the way or you will be hit. DT when you can, and go up to his
mouth and slash until your gauge runs dry. He should die after 2 or 3 DTs.

Trismagia: This boss has 2 forms. One where he splits into 3 different
elemental heads (Fire, Ice, and Lightning), and one where he is just one
big skull. The combined head only has one attack where he sends a giant
homing blast after you. This move is hard to dodge, but just start dodging
when you see the 3 circles form. The fire head can send small homing blasts
after you which you must dodge to avoid. The Lightning head will send two
spheres after you that shoot lightning. Once again just dodge them. The Ice
head can shoot ice at you which is easily dodged, or it will rain ice spikes
down on you, which will miss you as long as you are not under their shadows.
All 3 heads will come at you one at a time and hit you with some kind of
elemental blast. Start dodging and try to get behind them. If they miss you,
then this is the only time that you can use your swords on them. Any other
time, you should be blasting them with Sub machineguns or Throwing Daggers.
When the heads form one skull, DT and start firing your weapons at him to do
the most damage. You should be able to build up your DT while you are
fighting the 3 smaller heads.

Argosax the Chaos- You might wanna get a drink or something for this one,
it's gonna be a long summary. Notice that there are several green orbs on
the outside of the arena. You'll start off in front of Nefasturis who uses
his giant ray attack, and his multi ray attack. Jump over the giant ray, and
dodge to the side of the multi ray one. Use your Submachine guns to damage
him, and just stay as far back as possible so that you can see when to dodge
his attacks. Move to your right to fight Griffon. Don't stand directly in
front of him or you will be hit by several vertical and horizontal lightning
attacks. Stay to the outside, DT, and blast him with your guns. Dodge any
of his attacks with the Circle button, and keep on firing with the Subs if
you run out of DT. Next is Furiataurus. He attacks with a blast of fire from
his mouth. Don't go up and slash him or he will hit you with his hammer.
You cannot blast him until he is shooting fire, so stand as far away as
possible and to the side. Roll into his view and quickly roll back out
again when he starts firing. Blast him with your rocket launcher until he
moves the hammer back in front of him. Next is Jokatguin. He will swing his
tentacle back and forth, or he will shoot it out at you. DT, and start
slashing him to kill him quickly. Next is Orangguerra. If you get to close
to him, he will pick you up and throw you down. If you stand far away from
him, he will fire balls of energy at you. Whenever you can, DT and start
slashing at his head to stop his attacks. If you run out of juice, stand as
far back as possible, and alternate between dodging his energy blasts and
shooting him with your sub machineguns. Save the Phantom for last because he
can boost up your DT gauge. Run up to his head and start slashing until he
sticks his head under ground or his mouth lights up. When this happens,
start running around to avoid his attacks, and then go back up and start
slashing again. Be sure to get any of the green orbs that you left around
if you need them, you might not be able to once the next fight starts.

The Despair Embodied: This guy is almost impossible to fight because he is
faster than you are even when you are in DT. If this is your first time
through, then you will probably need a Vital Star and a Devil Star. Fighting
behind him doesn't work because he can hit you with a 360 slash. He also
runs forward and slams into you, or does an overhead slash if you are in
front of him. If you jump into the air, then he will follow you up and hit
you with his wings. If he starts flying around in the air, shoot him with
your subs. He will then start to shine like a rainbow. This is your cue to
dodge like there's no tomorrow and you might not get hit by either the
energy rain, or the homing missiles. If he's on the ground, try your best to
hit him with Vendetta and then quickly dodge out of the way so that you can
hit him again. The only time you'll really be able to do anything is when
your DTed. Have the Offence Heart equipped, and start slashing away or
shooting him if he is in the air. It shouldn't take more than 2 Dts. I hope
you can survive long enough to fill up your gauge 2 times. One thing this
boss likes to do is to teleport behind you while you are attacking him,
and then hit you a couple of times. You can use this against him if you
have just the right timing. Go up to him but Don't attack. He will
teleport, and you should immediately dodge until you are behind him, you
can now hit him with a quick 3 hit combo. He will teleport again, and you
should repeat the procedure. If done correctly, Despair will never lay a
hand on you.

Possessed Arius: He will often attempt a running charge at you, the best
thing to do is dodge to the side, and start slashing at him. He can also
reach his tentacles to the ground and hit you with them, if you see them go
underground immediately start dodging. Be careful when fighting next to him
as well, as he can grab you or hit you with his arms and start squeezing you.
Rapidly press buttons to release yourself. His final attack is an
electrical charge that follows you around after he sends it out of his
tentacle. Dodge just before it reaches you, and it should just go by you.
He shouldn't be too tough, but he does have allot of health to deal with.
The best thing to do is to wait until he attacks you with his charge or his
electrical shocks, dodge out of the way, and then begin attacking. Only
use throwing knives whenever you are at a distance. DT whenever possible
to cause more damage. If you are attacking while in DT, he shouldn't be
able to attack you, Finally, Cranky Bombs can be somewhat useful in this
fight if your timing is done right. If you see him fly up into the air,
DODGE as fast as possible until you are directly beneath him. If you are
too slow he will hit you with an undodgeable energy blast, or several small
energy blasts.

Arius Argosax: This boss can spit poison out of its mouth which can be
really annoying. He can also hit you with its long tail if you get to close
to it. The best thing to do is to use throwing knives for the whole fight.
When you DT gauge is full, go to the ground, and hold square to do the most
damage. This fight is really easy as long as you use the healing heart to
stay healthy so that you can last out all of his lifebar. Just stay at one
end of the canyon while shooting, until the beast gets close enough, then
dodge to the other end and repeat.

8. Walkthrough
===========================

The walkthrough will be split up to cover both Dante's and Lucia's game. Boss
strategies are given in the enemies section.

 ++++++++
 I. Dante
 ++++++++

a. Mission 1- After the cool opening cinema, you'll be able to take control of
Dante for the first time. The goal here is to get to the northern end of the
city. Just follow the stairs down, gathering red orbs as you go. A little
ways down, the path turns left. Check the corner here and you should find a
small hole in the ground containing a red orb. When you get to the bottom,
turn around behind you and you'll find another red orb on top of a wrecked
bus. Turn around and follow the path until you are stopped by a cinema. Now
you'll be able to fight your first Agnofinises. These guys shouldn't give you any
trouble, they are mainly just there so that you can get accustomed to the
fighting style of DMC2. If you have trouble with any of the enemies, then you
can check the enemies section of this guide. Continue to follow the path
until you reach another left turn. Before you turn, there should be a large
door in front of you. Enter this door to find your first secret mission.
After you collect your loot, follow the path until you reach a dead end.
Jump over the wall here, and you should find yourself on some rooftops.
Follow these rooftops until you reach another wall with a doorway set into
it high off the ground. Before you go through, turn a round and jump into the
pit to gain a blue orb fragment. Now, jump through the doorway, and prepare
for combat. You must defeat all of the enemies in order for the door to open.
go through the door on the other side of the gate, and you should find
yourself inside a small village. Collect all of the orbs before you head into
the northern corner to end the mission.

b.Mission 2- You start this mission in a cave. Run forward and smash the
doorway in front of you to enter the next room. In here, follow the path
until you see another doorway to smash through, and collect the red orbs
inside. There should be two more doorways inside here, smash the last one to
cause the wall beside you to shift. Pull out Ebony & Ivory, and begin
shooting the Flambats that come out. There's a door where the bats came
out, but before you go through it, smash another door on the far side to make
the wall move again. Run over here, and you should fall through the floor
onto a hefty amount of red orbs. Now go through the door, and you'll be in a
square room with square tiles on the floor. Go up to the door in front of you
to activate the puzzle. The middle square will light up, and when you step
on it, four white orbs will pop out of the ground for a limited amount of
time. You have to try to smash them, it takes about 4-5 slashes with the
Rebellion to do the trick. If you can destroy all 4 in one turn, or 3 in a
row three times, the door will open. In this new area, follow the path, and
smash any doorways that you come up to. one of them should make the wall
move, and you need to follow the new path. smash another statue to make the
wall move again. Flambats will come out, so start shooting, or just avoid them
and look for the next doorway. The wall behind you should move, so turn
around and smash the doorway in this new room. Go down the path behind the
doorway, and slash the blue statue until it is completely lit up. This will
cause the door at the very end of the path to open up. Before you leave the
passage way with the blue sphere, examine the coffin leaning against the
wall to find another secret room. Go through the door at the end of the
hall, and you'll find yourself in a new room, surrounded by enemies. After
you kill all the enemies, 2 Goatlings will attack you. One will fight you
from the ground, and one will fight you from the air. Kill the one in the
air first to make things easier. After they are dead, you will be able to
gain the Aerial Heart. Recharge at the DT charger in the corner if you
need to, and use the new heart to fly out of the room and end the mission.

c.Mission 3- Follow the path until it splits into 2 directions. Keep going
in the direction that you were going in until you can turn to your right. At
this turn, you should find a blue orb fragment in the far left corner. Turn
around and head back down the path. A Goatling will start attacking you by
making energy shoot up from the ground. Just keep dodging until you get right
up under him, then jump up and bring him down with a downward swipe. After
you kill him and the rest of the enemies, turn around and go into one of the
red doors on the right wall. This will start another secret mission. After
you finish with it, go through the big door on the left side of the screen.
It's time for your first boss fight against Orangguerra. Refer to the boss
guide for tips on how to kill him. After you kill him, you will receive a key
to be used in the hallway outside. Exit the room and look for a door with 2
red orbs next to it, go through this door to end the mission.

d.Mission 4- Follow the path you are on, and jump up on the ledges around you
to get some red orbs. Farther down the path, you will be attacked by some
enemies. Kill them, and check the ledges for more orbs. Knock down the door
at the end of the path, and follow the new path until you reach the door at
the end. While you are exploring, take note of the gate on the right side of
the screen blocking your progress; you'll need to return here later. In this
new room, you must kill all of the enemies, and then enter the door at the
top of the stairs. In this room, you will receive the Quick Heart. Before you
leave, jump up on top of the machinery, and then up to the ceiling to receive
a yellow orb. Go back outside, and look for a triangular statue with a sphere
on top. Equip the Quick Heart, DT, and hit the statue to make the gate
blocking your way go up. Run to the gate, and press Circle to roll under it
just in time. If you don't make it, go back and try again. Explore the new
area, and look for a garage like door, go through here to start another
secret mission. Now go through the main door, and prepare for a boss fight
with Jokatguin. After the boss is dead, a door to your right should open up.
Go through here to receive the shotgun, and to end the mission.

e.Mission 5- Walk towards the red orb, and a force field should go up in
front of you. You will have to kill Friki & Geri before you will be allowed
to leave. After they are dead, walk out on to the street and you will be
attacked by two or three Blood Goats. After you defeat them, explore the area
behind where you entered to find a few red orbs, leave the area after you are
done exploring. On the next street, you will have to fight Orangguerra again,
but he's allot easier this time. Go through one of the doors in this area to
reach a secret room. Continue down the street until you reach a truck
blocking your path. You'll have to jump over it. After you do, you'll be
attacked by 3 infested tanks. After you kill them, follow the highway up to
reach a red orb and a blue orb. Jump down here, and you should be in an area
surrounded by fire. Explore until you find a ledge that you can use to jump
over the far wall. Go through the opening in the chain link fence, and you
will find the Offence Heart. Return to the area where you fought the tanks.
As you walk farther down the street, you will be attacked by the infested
chopper. Don't bother fighting it, just jump through the hole at your right.
Walk up the stairs in front of you in this new room, and you will again be
attacked by the chopper. You have to jump to the top of the building, before
the flames below you catch up to you and kill you. The best way to do this is
to just equip the Aerial Heart and fly to the top. Once you are there, go
through the doorway to the roof. You now have to jump to the next roof while
avoiding the chopper's fire. On the next roof, use the ledges to jump up to
the top, and then continue to the next roof. Here you'll need to use the
snake shaped ledges on the corner of the building to jump to the top. At the
top of the building, you must do battle with the infested chopper. After it
dies, the mission will end.

f.Mission 6- This mission is just one giant boss battle with Nefasturris.
See the Boss section for tips.

g.Mission 7- You start in a fairly cubed shape room, and your goal is to get
to the top of the far wall. Once here, jump on top of the pipe, and slide
into the next area. You'll now be outside, and your goal is to get to the
end of the walkway. Explore this area, and you will find a group of boilers;
behind them is a yellow orb. Go to the door, and enter the next area. You'll
now be on a spiral staircase, and you need to get to the bottom while
avoiding enemies. At the bottom, you should enter the cylindrical room and
use your Aerial Heart to fly up to the top. Here You'll find the Flame Heart.
Go back down to the bottom, and enter the door with the green lights on it.
Be careful not to fall into the pit in this room, but do jump onto the ledge
in the pit and go through the door. Here you will find the Vendetta sword.
Exit this room and jump to the other side of the room. Jump up to the ledge,
and enter the door here. Use the Aerial heart to fly up to some red orbs in
this room. Ride the elevator to the bottom, and you will find yourself in
front of a small train. Once you enter the train, you will be attacked by
some Agnofinis. Be sure to destroy all of the crates while you are fighting
to receive some red orbs. Go up the elevator at the end of the hall, and go
through the door to end the level.

h.Mission 8- This mission is just a boss fight with Furiataurus. Make sure to
destroy all of the crates in this room to get all of the red orbs.

i.Mission 9- After you exit this main room, you will have 12 minutes to
escape the building before it explodes. Jump back down the elevator shaft,
and fight some of the enemies here if you want to. Don't spend too much time
fighting, or you might not make it out. Follow the railway path down the
right fork, and go through the door on the right wall. You will now be in the
room where you got the Vendetta and if you didn't get it earlier, you can
pick it up now. Exit the room and jump out of the pit. From here, jump up the
ledges and exit out of the door. Run back up out of the spiral staircase, and
avoid the exploding enemies. When you exit the room, you will be back
outside, and you will need to light up 3 orbs before the door will unlock.
When you go through the door, you will be in the room that you started the
mission in. Jump back up to the door near the pipe and enter it. Go through
the door in this room. The fan in this room will make it hard to run, but you
need to enter the plane in the middle of the room. Smash the crate in the
right corner to find the rocket launcher. Exit the plane, and go through the
hole that the plane made in the fan to end the mission.

j.Mission 10- You'll start this level in a large courtyard. Explore the area
to find orbs, and kill the Pyromancers to build up your DT gauge. Now equip
the quick heart, and go to the right side of the courtyard. Here you should
find a statue. Hit the statue, DT, and run to the other side of the
courtyard. Hit the statue here, if you made it on time, the gate at the end
of the courtyard should open up. Go through the gate, and light up the statue
inside. A staircase should open up, but before you can reach it, you will be
sucked into the ground. Here you must kill the 2 Savage Golems in the room.
After that, You will begin a boss battle with Nochpteran. After the fight,
collect any orbs still lying around, and head back to the surface. Go down
the stairs to end the mission.

k.Mission 11- Follow the path until you reach a door about halfway down. Go
through the door to start another secret mission. After that, head down the
path, fighting enemies, until you can safely cross into the next room. Drop
down into the pit on your left and smash the vases here for some red orbs. In
the next room, you can either fight the enemies, or just ignore them and
continue on down the path. in the next room, you have to jump up on the
middle pillar and smash the blue statue. The room will rotate, and you will
have to use the pillars to jump up into the new opening. Follow this
corridor until you reach a downward sloped one. Equip the Quick Heart and
begin walking down the corridor. A giant red eye will fall down behind you,
now quickly DT and run to the end of the path. If the eye hits you, then you
will be teleported to another room, and forced to fight 2 Savage Golems.
You'll then be teleported back to the corridor, and you'll have to try again.
When you make it to the end, you will fall into a room with a giant crushing
device in the middle. In this room you should be able to jump up or fly up
until you find another blue orb. While the crusher is going up, you should
run to the end of the room and start smashing the door. Run back before it
comes back down, and then try again. Follow the new corridor, and you'll
end up in a room with red pillars. Use the walls to jump up to the second
floor. And use the floating red and blue floors to jump across the room. Or
you could just use the Aerial Heart. Next to one of the blue floors is a
hallway, at the end of it you will find the sub machineguns. Go across the
room and enter another hallway. Midway through this hallway you will find 3
pots. The object of this puzzle is to have all 3 of them smashed at the
same time. If you are too slow however, the pots will reappear. The best
way to do this is to smash one pot until it is almost destroyed, then move
on to the next pot. Once one pot is destroyed, quickly DT (with the Quick
Heart equipped) and smash the other 2. Now run to the end of the hall to
acquire the Healing Heart. Jump down into the pit to start a boss fight
with Bolverk. After the fight, go through the door to end the mission.

l.Mission 12. When you take control, you will be surrounded by an energy
force field. You must jump up and smash all of the diamonds to destroy the
force field. The only problem is that they are constantly moving and so is
the force field. Don't bother trying to kill the Sargasso, they will just keep
coming back. After you smash the last diamond, drop down through the hole in
the floor and smash all of the pots in this room. Go through the door to
start a boss fight with Plutonian. After the fight, go through the doorway to
end the mission.

m.Mission 13- This is basically just a boss fight with Arius.

n.Mission 14- Dante will start facing the screen, turn him around and run
towards the statue of time. Keep going until you come to a corner. If you
check to your left, you can find the Missile Launcher if you missed it
earlier. Turn the corner, and you should be attacked by some blood goats.
Kill the blood goats and jump up on the rooftops. Run back the direction you
came until you reach a roof with a single red orb on it. Now use the Aerial
Heart to fly up and smash the statue above this roof. Follow the path now
until you reach the spot where you first fought the Msira. jump up through
the doorway and kill all of the enemies in here. Now run to the back left
corner to find the second statue. Exit this area and continue to follow the
path until it splits into two directions again. Keep going towards the
screen, and at the end of the path you will find some Savage Golems and the
third statue. When you're done, retrace your steps and follow the other path.
Stay close to the left wall, and you should find a pathway. Follow this, and
jump up on the ledges to receive another blue orb. Kill the pyromancers in
this room, and use the Aerial Heart to fly up and smash the statue. If you
run out of juice, just keep double jumping and slashing down on the statue.
Enter the door and slash the eyeball in the middle of the statue to start the
boss fight with Phantom. When he is dead, the mission will end.

o.Mission 15- Before you hit the eye again, examine the spider web like mound
on the right side of the room. The object of this is to knock 3 enemies into
it using high time or stinger. Now, hit the eyeball. Several enemies will
attack you, and you must kill them all before you can enter the underworld.
You have three minutes to do this, and if you run out of time, you will have
to try again. Try to fight over by the mound, if you do manage to knock 3
into it, you will receive the Chrono Heart. Use the DT whenever possible to
kill off many enemies at one time. When you kill enough enemies, you will be
able to jump into the center of the starfish and end the mission.

p.Mission 16- Before you can take the elevator in front of you, you must
kill all of the enemies in this room. On the elevator, you will be attacked
by several enemies. This is a good place to get a stylish rating because of
the close quarters. At the bottom, smash all of the pots to obtain red orbs,
and go through the door at the end of the path. Follow the path until you
reach another door and go through it. Here you will have to reach the end of
the room without touching any of the red eyeballs. Two will come at you from
the middle, then 2 on the side, and then 2 in the middle again. The best
thing to do is to hide in the small alcove in the corner until the ones on
the side roll by, and then go forward again. Now there will be 4 coming at
you from all different directions. The best thing to do is to double jump
over them. If any of them touch you, you will have to fight 2 Savage Golems,
and then try again. You should now be at the back wall. Go through the door
here to find another secret room, then jump up to the balcony. Take the
Sacrilege, and explore the balcony to find a blue orb piece. Put the
Sacrilege in the door and head back out. Ignore the Pyromancers and follow
the path until it splits in 2. Take the one in front of Dante, and go
through the door here. You will now have to fight Bolverk again. When he is
dead, take the sacrilege and exit the room. Follow the hallway, and there
should be a pathway to your right lined with red orbs. Go through the door,
and kill all of the enemies to receive the sacrilege. Exit the way you came
in, and head back down the hall. Turn to Dante's left, back toward where you
got the second Sacrilege. Turn left now and go through the new door. Smash
the orb, and kill all of the Blood Goats to receive the Frost Heart. Go back
to the room where you found the third Sacrilege, and take the elevator down.
This time you will be attacked by harder enemies in the elevator, but they
shouldn't give you too much trouble. Go through the door, and begin the boss
fight with Trismagia. After that the mission will end.

q. Mission 17- Go through the door in front of you to start the boss fight
with Arius. After he is dead, the mission will end.

r.Mission 18- Fight Argosax the Chaos and Despair Embodied to win the game.

 +++++++++

a.Mission 1- You start the game in a small village. The goal here is to
find 45 red orbs in order to unlock the door at the end. You can find most
of them on the ground, but you can also smash the pipes on the roofs to
receive more. When you have enough, enter the next area and go through the
doorway. You have to fight some Agnofinises here, and when they are all
dead you can exit by jumping through the doorway set up into the wall.
Here, jump into the water way and go through the small grating at the end
to find the first secret room. When you’re done, run down the street until
you find the statue of time. Near here should be a ledge that you can jump
up on to receive a blue orb fragment. Further down the street, stay on the
rooftops, and you should find some red orbs. Keep going until you're back
down on the streets, and jump in the waterway. At the end of the water
way, you can use the wall jump to find several more red orbs. Further down
the street, you'll have to fight a Savage Golem. Go up the steps until you
find a large statue. Jump up on the back of it, and jump again to find
another blue orb. Next go up the stairs until you reach a set of giant
double doors. Go to the left of them, and through the giant face to start
another secret mission. Go through the double doors to end the mission.

b.Mission 2- Go up the stairs in this first room and attack the sphere.
You'll be attacked by 2 goatlings now, one on the ground and one in the
air. Be sure to take down the one in the air first so that he doesn't give
you problems while you are fighting the other one. When they are dead, you
will receive the Aerial Heart. Use this to fly up and out of the room. Go
up the stairs in this room and jump up on the platform. Jump up again and
destroy the platform to receive the Darts, also there should be a blue orb
somewhere in the air here. Continue to jump up the platforms until you
reach an orb generator. Destroy this, and jump up to the circular platform
to exit the room. Fly up to the orb in this room, and begin to smash it.
You should then be able to fly up and out of the level that opens up. Go up
the stairs, and fight your first boss, Tartarussian. Enter the small area
at the front of the room to open the door and to receive a blue orb. Go up
the stairs and collect the orbs around the platform. When you are done,
jump off of the platform to end the mission.

c.Mission 3- Go down the street until you are attacked by a Goatling. Just
keep dodging to avoid the energy coming up from the ground. Jump up and
kill the Goatling, then go through the door on your left. The Klyamoors
should be on the ground in here, after you get them, exit the room. Go
through the large door with a red orb beside it. Go down the street, and
use the platforms to jump up and receive a blue orb. Kill the enemies on
the road, and attack the doorway at the end of the road. Go through it,
and jump up the platforms on the cliffs until you find a blue orb. Go to
the far end of the area, and enter the door here. Kill the enemies in this
room, and search the large carving on the stairway to find another secret
room. Go into the room at the top of the stairs, and collect the healing
heart. Go back outside to the waterfront, and enter the large archway.
Climb up the stairs and search the top to find another secret room. Go back
downstairs and enter the large door. Fight Jokatguim, and exit through the
door that opens to end the mission.

d.Mission 4- Jump into the tunnel to find a blue orb. Go down the tunnel and
get the Offence Heart from the refuse in the wall to your right. Continue
down the street, and fight Orrangguerra. When he is dead, enter the tunnel,
and continue down the street. You will be attacked by an infested tank.
Alternate between dodging and throwing knives until you make your way down
the street and are able to attack it. When it is dead, the mission will end.

e.Mission 5- Head into the room and jump down into the middle. Jump up to
the other side and go through the door over here. Jump to get the orb, and
go through the door. Collect the orb on the plane, and enter through the
back of it. Start smashing the boxes to receive the cranky bombs. Leave the
plane and go through the door near the end of the room. Smash the orb here
and leave the room. Go back to the room you started in and go through the
garage like door. Here you will receive the Evil Heart, which slowly drains
your health. Jump down into the main area and run to the back of the boiler
tanks on the left side of the area to receive a blue orb. Go through the
door at the end of the area. Smash the orb and run down the stairs. When
you are attacked, hit the spiciers with a melee weapon to kill the whole
group. Go all the way to the bottom and use the DT charger to restore your
DT and your health. Enter the cylindrical room, and use the Aerial Heart
to fly up to the top and receive the Flame Heart. Jump down and go through
the door in the hall. Jump down into the pit here, and go through the door
at the back of the room. Walk to the back and place the Evil Heart in the
recess to receive the Electro Heart. Go out of the other door in here, and
travel down the train tracks. Use the elevator to go to the top floor. Go
through the doorway on the right to find another secret room. Go through
the door at the end of the hall to end the mission.

f.Mission 6- Kill all of the enemies in the area that you start out in to
begin the boss battle with Noctpteran. After the battle you will be
transported to a new area. Get the blue orb in here, and use the Aerial
Heart to fly to the top of the pillars. Fly to the ledge along the next
wall, and search the hole here to find another secret room. Jump down into
the water, and look for the Bow Gun under the ledge where you found the
blue orb. Swim to the giant door to end the mission.

g.Mission 7- Keep swimming down the corridor that you start in, and search
the small recess in the wall to reveal a blue orb. Swim up the hole in the
ceiling, and go through the door into the next area. Grab the Aqua Heart,
and jump up on the ledge above it. From here, jump to the next ledge and
start smashing the vases in here for red orbs. Go through the doorway on
the right to find another secret room. When you are done, go down the
hallway to your right, and jump into the water. When you swim into the next
room you should go through the hole that you see in the cut-scene. Kill
all of the enemies in this room so that you can complete the puzzle in
peace. The goal here is to light up all 6 of the different orbs at the same
time. Use the Aqua Heart to do this. Jump up on the platforms that appear,
and smash the orb at the top. Go back down into the previous room where you
saw the cut scene, and swim to the door. Fight Tateobesu, and swim up into
the hole to cause the mission to end.

h.Mission 8- Look in the small area right above where you start to find
another secret room. Search the area to find a Gold Orb behind one of the
pillars. Leave through the hole in the ceiling, and examine the large eye
at the end of the room. The goal here is to knock three fireballs back at
the eye using your swords. After the water level raises, look behind one of
the statues to find a Blue Orb fragment. Swim through the hole in the room,
and run down the hallway that you emerge in. Jump back into the water at
the end of the hall and swim down into the next room. Look for a hole in
the floor, and swim down it to find another blue orb. leave the hole and
swim through the other hole in this room near the back. go through the
door, and examine the glyph near the back. The object now is to break 8 of
the spheres with your sword. Jump over the blocks for the fastest results.
Jump up on the platforms that appear, and go through the door. Run until
you find 3 orbs. The object of this is to break all 3 at the same time, and
then run to the end of the room. The best way to do this is to hit one of
the orbs until it is almost destroyed, then go on to the next one. When one
is destroyed, DT and quickly destroy the other 2. Then, run to the end and
grab the Quick Heart before the orbs can reform. Go through the door, and
fight Plutonian. jump up on the pedestal, and go up to end the mission.

i.Mission 9- Fight Arius, that's basically the whole mission.

j.Mission 10- Run forward when you start and look for the first statue, it
should be near a pillar with a red orb on it. You have to activate 4 of
these in this mission, and this one will be the first. After you activate
it, look for a door on the left side of the street, and you should find
another secret room. Go back down the right fork in the road, and activate
another orb near the arena where you first fought the Msira as Dante.
After you activate it, jump into the arena, and search the back to find a
blue orb. Keep going down the street, and look for another orb on the
right to smash. When you're done, continue down the street until you get to
the area where Dante jumps over the gap on his motorcycle. Here you will
find the Zambaks. Run down the left side of the street until you find a
passageway. Go down it, and look for the final orb up on a ledge to your
right. Go through the large door on the right, and hit the eye in the
middle of the giant starfish. This will activate the boss fight with
Phantom, and when he is dead the mission will end.

k.Mission 11- Before you hit the eye again, examine the spider web like mound
on the right side of the room.
If you
fail to do it in 3 minutes, you will have to try again, but the enemies
will get easier. Use the Chrono Heart to make things easier.

l.Mission 12- Kill all of the Goatlings in the starting area, and leave.
The elevator is a great place to get orbs because it is such a small area.
As long as you keep dodging, you can get good style ratings. Run down the
right way of the hall and smash one of the vases. Check the wall here to
find another Secret Room. Run down to the other end of the hallway and go
through the door. Continue down the hall, and go through the door at the
end. Kill the enemies in here, and use the sacrilege that you receive on
the door. Go back out and go through the new hallway until you reach the
door. Go through the door. Here you will have to reach the end of the room
without touching any of the red eyeballs. Two will come at you from the
middle, then 2 on the side, and then 2 in the middle again. The best thing
to do is to hide in the small alcove in the corner until the ones on the
side roll by, and then go forward again. Now there will be 4 coming at you
from all different directions. The best thing to do is to double jump over
them. If any of them touch you, you will have to fight 2 Savage Golems, and
then try again. You should now be at the back wall, jump up and get the
sacrilege. Look for another blue orb at the end of the balcony. Place the
sacrilege in the door and leave. Look for a trail of orbs on the right of
the screen, go down the path and go through the door. Fight Trismagia and
go through the door at the end of the room. Go up the elevator, and enter
the room at the end of the area to end the mission.

m.Mission 13- Fight Possessed Arius and Arius Argosax to finish the game.

9. Secret Rooms
===========================

The secret rooms are rooms that can only be accessed by pressing circle when
next to the doorways. You will be transported to a square room, and forced to
fight two waves of enemies. As you uncover more secret rooms, the enemies get
harder. The reward for completing these missions is extra red orbs, a white
orb, and sometimes a blue orb fragment.

You can go through the same doorways in Hard mode, and in Dante/Lucia must
Die mode to gain more secret rooms. I know that Dante has 20 and Lucia has
10 per difficulty mode.

10. FAQs
===========================

Q. Can you unlock Easy Automatic mode?

A. From what I've heard, it's only a myth. Several people have tried to
find it but all have failed. It's like the Holy Grail of DMC 2. No matter
how bad you are you will only be able to play on normal mode. I don't know
why they put that little excerpt in the instruction manual, it looks like
they just copied it straight from the DMC 1 instruction manual.

Q. How do I unlock Hard/Bloody Palace modes again?

A. You must beat normal mode with BOTH characters to unlock hard mode and
the Bloody Palace mode.

Q. Where is the Chrono Heart?

A. Check the mission 15 walkthrough for Dante and the mission 11
walkthrough for Lucia.

Q. How do you save during Bloody Palace mode?

A. You cannot save during the game. The only time you can save is if you
die, and that only saves your orbs, not your position. Also, don't exit to
the title screen during the middle of the game or you will forfeit your
orbs.

Q. Can I host this guide on my site?

A. Sure if I like ya. Seriously though, if you want to host it send me a
polite e-mail outlining your intentions, and be sure to give me credit if I
respond with a yes.

11. Secrets
===========================

 +++++++++++
 I. Rankings
 +++++++++++

At the end of each level, you will receive a ranking screen showing you how
well you scored on an A to D scale. The basis for this grade is calculated by
each of the following things: level time, orbs received, damage taken,
items used, and the amount of each of the different combat ratings you
received.

These combat ratings include: Don't worry, Come on, Bingo, Are you Ready, and
Showtime. You can achieve the higher ratings by stringing your combos
together, and not pausing in between hits.

 +++++++++++++++
 II. Unlockables
 +++++++++++++++

All of these secrets can be unlocked after you beat the game on the several
different modes.

  -------------------
  a. Difficulty modes
  -------------------

Hard- This mode is, as it says, HARD. You unlock this mode with Dante or
Lucia after beating normal mode on both disks. Your character does less
damage while enemies do two times the damage. Tougher enemies now respawn
where easier enemies were in normal mode.

Dante or Lucia Must Die- The hardest mode in the game. This mode is unlocked
after you successfully complete hard mode on both disks. This mode is nigh impossible.
Enemies do much more damage and sometimes they have the ability to tap into
their own Devil Trigger. When they do this, they seem to take much less
damage.

  -----------
  b. Costumes
  -----------

Diesel Dante and Lucia- Beat normal mode to unlock Dante and Lucia in jeans
and a jacket.

secret Lucias- Lucia has 1 more secret costumes if you beat hard mode with
her. It's another Diesel outfit.

Original Dante- Beat Dante Must Die Mode to unlock Dante's costume from the
first game. Comes with a maxed out force edge sword instead of Rebellion.

Secretary Lucia- Beat Lucia Must Die mode to unlock Lucia as one of Aerius'
secretaries that you fight as Dante at the end.

Trish- That's right, you heard me. Trish can be unlocked by beating Hard
mode with Dante. She can be used in either Dante or Lucia's scenario.
Trish comes equipped with the Sparda sword and Luce & Hombre handguns, and
both weapons are at maximum levels. Most of her combos are similar to Dante's
combos. She is also able to shoot yellow lightning, just like she did in the
first game.

Trish has a few new moves that you can master:

3 hit combo: press triangle, triangle, triangle to do 2 diagonal slashes
and one powerful downward slash.

5 Hit combo: Triangle, Triangle, pause, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle. Same
as above except she adds in 2 more sideways slashes before the final one.

Multihit combo: Triangle, Triangle, pause longer than previous one, tap
Triangle repeatedly. She does 2 diagonal slashes, then multiple stabs.

Trish can also do the standard High time and Stinger moves.

Round Trip: To perform the Round Trip, press and hold the triangle button.
When you release it, Trish will throw her sword at the closest enemy and it
will continually hit that enemy. While this is happening, you can shoot at
the enemy, or hit them with your fists.

Air Raid: While flying in the air, continually press square to shoot yellow
bolts of energy out of her hands. This eats up a ton of DT, but it kills
enemies very quickly and efficiently since the energy passes through
multiple monsters.

Vortex: Hold R1, and repeatedly press triangle and square to do a spinning
attack towards an enemy. This does a ton of damage, but it also uses up a
lot of DT.

Plant Sparda: Hold L2 and hold Triangle, then release Triangle to cause
Trish to plant the sparda in the ground. She can now use her hands for
hand to hand combat. Press L2 again to retrieve the Sparda.

Punch combo: Repeatedly press Triangle to do a 5 hit combo consisting of 3
punches and 2 kicks.

  ----------------
  c. Bloody Palace
  ----------------

The bloody palace is a secret game you get when you beat both Dante and
Lucia's disks on normal mode. The object is to kill as many enemies as
possible to collect orbs that you can use in the actual game. You will be
attacked by varying amounts of enemies at each level and you must kill them
all to advance to the next level. The enemies get more difficult the higher
you go, and around level 1000 they get the ability to DT like in DMD mode.
After you kill all of the enemies, you will be able to choose between 3
portals. the blue circle one goes up 1 floor, the white-circled one goes up
10 floors and the multicolored one goes up 100 floors. Equipping the Healing
Heart seems to be the best way to survive, and Trish is the best character to
use. There are 9,999 floors, and on the top floor, the enemies just keep
coming at you until you die. When you die, you will get a red orb bonus of
10xthe number of the level you died on. Good Luck, you're gonna need it.

Trish seems to be the best character to use during this game. The flying
goats make this incredibly hard, but Trish can take them down fast using
the vortex. Lucia is also a good choice, if you abuse the cranky bombs.
Just stand in the corner and jump up, then throw bombs. Since the enemies
tend to migrate toward you, you will be able to hit many enemies at once.
Just continue doing this to build up your DT, and then let loose. This
becomes more difficult when fighting flying enemies at the same time, which
is why Trish is the better choice.

You can also fight bosses in this mode. Every level 10 (ex: 10, 20, 110...)
has a different boss for you to fight. This is not a recommended path, as it
is very difficult to fight some of the bosses while fighting other enemies
at the same time, plus they can DT after level 1000.
