Courts Service Practice 1. All you have to do is just serve into the target area, this is very easy. 2. In this level, you do the same except you must hit the ball out of bounds. Bottom right side of screen - Get all the way to the left, when you serve, aim to the corner and press the A button Bottom left side of screen - Get all the way to the right, when you serve, aim to the corner and press the B button Top left side of screen - Get all the way to the right, when you serve, aim to the corner and press the A button Top right side of screen - Get all the way to the left, when you serve, aim to the corner and press the B button 3. You have to serve from center to center. It is really hard, so use the same method on this, except this time you must serve and get the word NICE. Service Match 1. Just try to get an ace. 2. You have to get an ace and serve it through the poles. 3. Score an ace, and you will get a point, you must score two more points then your opponent to win. Stroke Practice 1. This is kind of hard. He will serve the ball to your side and you have to hit it back 2. This is lob practice. You have to return the server's serve, by hitting a lob to the target area 3. You have to return the server's serve to the other side. Example: If he serves from the left side, your return has to be to the right side. Stroke Match 1. This is like a regular game except for you cannot go past the service line and you have to hit it past the line. 2. This is like a lob match, if he serves, you must not let him score, if you serve, then you must score. 3. This is like a return match, just return it and score to get a point. Net Play Practice 1. You must serve, then run in front of the service line and return his shot to the target area. 2. Just serve it and smash it to the target area. 3. Serve the ball, run to the net, and hit a droop shot. Net Play Match 1. Serve the ball then try to score on the returner's shot 2. This is a smash match. The receiver must return a lob. The server then has to score on a smash shot. Use the down-the-line technique when you are serving. 3. This is a drop shot match. The server must play the net, and the receiver must return the ball from behind the service line. II. Facilities Wall Room Practice 1. In level on you must hit it off the wall 50 times. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. There will be a moving square on the wall. If you hit a square pointing left, your ball will bounce left. If you hit the square pointing right, your ball will bounce to the right. 2. In level two you must hit the ball off the wall 50 times. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. There will be two moving squares. If you hit the red one, your ball will bounce up. If you hit the orange one, your ball will bounce down. 3. In level three you must hit the ball off the wall 50 times. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. There will be two moving squares. The four arrows in the squares will change the direction that they are pointing, and the big squares will change the direction that they are moving. 4. In level four you must hit the ball off the wall 50 times. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. There will be three moving squares. Two of the squares will switch there arrows and colors, but they always move in the same direction. After you beat level four, the next time you talk to the man in front of the wall level door, he will ask if you would like to try the Master Level. This does not count as you're cleared status, so you don't have to do it. Machine Practice 1. This is very easy, just return 15 balls to win. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. 2. This is very easy, just return 30 balls to win. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. This time the machine moves. 3. This is very easy, just return 60 balls to win. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. This time the machine moves. 4. This is very easy, just return 100 balls to win. It may take a couple of turns though. Your game will be over if you don't return the ball, or if you hit the ball out-of-bounds. This time the machine moves. After you beat level four, the next time you talk to the woman in front of the machine level door, she will ask if you would like to try the Expert System. This does not count as your cleared status, so you don't have to do it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7) Questions and Comments ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Q: Bob asks, will you eventually have a N64 - gameboy section? A: (first answer) I probably will soon, but for now check out Astroblue and Sahdwrlm3's Faq, it has a great section on that. (second answer) yes, I now have one. Q: How come you have few gameshark codes? A : It's hard to find them, if you find any, send them in. If you want Gameshark codes go to Astroblue and Shdwrlm3's FAQ, they have great codes there. Q: MPH asks, who should I give the experience points to? A: Well, I think you should go through everything in singles, giving all your experience points to yourself. Then you should go through it (with the same file) in doubles, giving them out equally. If you E-mail me, I'll answer your question by righting back to you most of the time by the next day . I will probably post it in the next version of this FAQ. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8) Walkthrough ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I. The next thing you know, you're on the ground he will ask if you're ok, then he will loose his documents and head out. After an extremely long introduction to the Royal Tennis Academy, courtesy of Emily a Varsity player and member of the traveling team, you will be left off at your dormitory room with your partner. Your room will be blue if your partner is Harry, it will be Pink if your partner is Kate. If you are Alex after you beat Mario in singles, you can have your partner be Kate. If you are Nina, after any file save has beaten Mario, your partner can be Harry. Your dormitory room will be blue if your partner is Harry, if your partner is Kate then your room will be pink. You can skip the introduction by pushing A, B, select, and start at the same time. (thanks again to Astroblue and Shdwrlm3 for the partner changer secret and the skip introduction secret) You should watch the introduction the first time so that you now were everything is and then skip it the 2nd and 3rd. You can go to the training courts and center whenever you want, so I'll leave them out of this part. See section 6 for more information on how to beat them. JUNIORS: After you are done with your introduction go to the junior courts, and there will be a man dressed in blue standing in-between the two courts, talk to him, and he'll ask if you want to play a junior class rankings match. So select yes and you'll be playing the player ranked fourth (4th) ranked player in the class. You'll be playing the first to win two sets is the winner of the match, but who must win by two sets or you'll have to go into a tiebreaker. A tiebreaker is like a set, except for you play by score of ones (instead of 0-15-30-40) and the first to score seven wins. You will take turns severing after every score. PAM: The 4th ranked player is slow and not very powerful. You should beet her easily. CURT: When the time comes to play the third ranked player be careful when you play the net, he will try to lob it over you, but again he shouldn't be that challenging. BETH: Again, very easy, but watch out for her lob. Keep on hitting back and forth in a straight line, then fire one down the opposite side, this should work most of the time. BOB: Watch out !!! He may be easy but he is really powerful !!!! After you serve or return the serve just play the net and you should have no problem After beating Bob, he will congratulate you and the man in the blue who was standing in-between the courts when you first came to the junior courts will walk up from the entrance to you and tell you that you are now qualified for the senior class. Then he will give you a medal and tell you to show that to the lady at the senior courts. YOU ARE NOW IN THE SENIOR CLASS. You can also use the repair counter now, and you have unlocked the LARGE RACKET. SENIORS : Go to the Senior courts and talk to the lady in-between the two courts, Emily , (the lady that showed you around in the beginning. ) She will ask if you would like to play a Senior class rankings match , select yes and you'll be playing the 4th ranked player. You will also notice, that the courts here are clay instead of composition. BRIAN : He is pretty easy , just play the net and you should be fine. JOY : This is were the real challenging stuff starts , she's harder than you would think for a third ranked player, she loves to use the lob, so be careful. ALLIE : I think Joy is harder than Allie , so if you beat Joy , Allie should be a synch. BRING ON THE SENIOR CLASS SINGLES CHAMP !!!!!!!!!!!! FAY : Fay is quick and powerful. You'll have to bring your A game to beat her. After you beat Fay she will congratulate you and then Emily will tell you that you're the singles class champion. After that she'll hand you the Senior class medal. And tell you that you finally made it to her level. The Varsity Squad, well actually she's on the Traveling Team, so your not really at here level, but you are just one match away. YOU ARE NOW ON THE SINGLES VARSITY SQUAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE ALSO UNLOCKED THE small racket , AND THE LIGHT SHOES. VARSITY SQUAD : There is only one match in this level , if you win you will be a part of the TRAVELING TEAM . The name of this player is unknown, but he has the same sprite as Bob, he is just blue. He will be considered B Bob. To play him talk to Mark, the green man standing in the middle of the Varsity Court. B BOB : Use a drop shot to bring him to the net , then lob one over his head. this should help you a lot, or at least , it helped me a lot , but or stats are probably different. so don't get mad if it doesn't. After you beat him the screen will show a chart with the TRAVELING TEAM MEMBERS, YOU WILL BE FOURTH ON THE LIST !!!!! CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE A TRAVELING TEAM MEMBER !!!! Even the guy you beat will congratulate you. Then Mark, Kevin, Emily, and your Partner will come and tell you how good you did. A screen will come up with your character and then say TO BE CONTINUED ..... don't turn your gameboy of , just waiter push B. your game will restart ( not your game data , just your game ) . When you turn your game back on go to STATUS , select the file number , then select SET ITEMS, and choose SELECT RACKET you will notice a new racket, the IRON RACKET, then press B twice, and choose SELECT SHOES you will notice a new pair, the IRON SHOES !!!!!!! ISLAND OPEN SINGLES The next time you go into your Mario Tour file it will ask you if you want to play singles or doubles, select singles to go to the Island Open. Your partner will talk to you like normal, but........ just as you are about to leave your room, your partner will tell you that the Traveling Team is supposed to meet in the Headmaster's office. You will automatically go there, but before you do you have to watch the Headmaster talk to the three other Traveling Team members. When you get there, eventually the Headmaster will ask if it's ok that you leave tomorrow, select yes and you'll be on your way to the Island Open. You'll fly to the Island and then you'll be ready to play. Once you get there the others will tell you that you still have time so you should have a look around. Leave the building, and the next time you come in the people will be ready, just go and stand in the only open circle (you may want to save before you walk into the circle. Once you walk in to the circle people will come and tell you that they are ready for the matches to begin. SAMMI : Sammi will be the hardest player you've ever played against. There isn't really a strategy that works except, just play your best game and whatever you would normally do. After you beat Sammi, just walk outside and then come rite back in, you may want to save before you go into the circle. Once you go into the circle the to men will come again and tell you that they are ready to start. SPIKE : Spike will be way harder than Sammi was, don't try playing the net, because with his curve shots you probably won't be able to reach them. Also, when you do play the net he might lob it over your head. After you beat Spike just go outside and come back in and if you want save, then walk to the open circle next to Emily. The men will come and tell you the semi-finals are about to begin. EMILY : Emily doesn't have any curve shots, but she's the fastest and powerfulest player you've played so far and if she has to she'll use the lob. After you beat Emily just walk outside and then come back in and save if you want, then walk into the circle next to the only player there. The men will come again and tell you that the Finals are about to start. You won't go to the court on the left like you normally do, but you'll go to the center court. WELLCOME TO THE FINALS !!!!! A. COZ : A. Coz won't seam hard, but the further into the match you go the harder he gets. After you beat him you'll end up at the award ceremony, as you walk up, an angry player stops you, after he's done talking, keep on walking upward, the director will stop you and ask to take the podium and you will automatically take the stage. The Headmaster will award the other two there trophies, and then yours. Then a picture of you holding your trophy will appear and then the credits will roll. Pushing A, B, Start, and Select at once will make them over with and you'll end up in the headmaster's office. YOUR DATA COULD GET LOST SO USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I HAVE DONE IT 5 OR 6 TIMES AND IT'S WORKED CORRECTLY EVERY TIME. Anyways, the next time you turn it in singles the headmaster will be talking to you. The Headmaster is telling you about Mario, and you get to challenge him. You will go (without choice) out the gate and start flying except this time you'll go into a rainbow , to PEACH'S CASTLE. After a lot of talking from characters that you've probably already seen, you'll be challenging Mario. MARIO : Mario probably won't seam to hard if you make use of drop and lob shots. He to seams to get harder as the match goes on. He's faster than you think, so be careful. After you beat Mario, a picture of you with Mario will appear, then a screen will appear with the Headmaster on it, Your game didn't restart, it's the credits. IV. Doubles JUNIORS : After you are done with your introduction go to the junior courts, and there will be a man dressed in blue standing in-between the two courts, talk to him, and he'll ask if you want to play a junior class doubles rankings match. So select yes and you'll be playing the team ranked third (3rd) ranked player in the class. You'll be playing the first to win two sets is the winner of the match , but who must win by two sets or you'll have to go into a tiebreaker. A tiebreaker is like a set, except for you play by score of ones (instead of 0-15-30-40) and the first to score seven wins. You will take turns severing after every score. BRIAN + FAY (RED) - This should be very easy, they are both slow. They didn't even score once on me. BETH + PAM - They are just as easy, my partner scored two aces. BOB + CURT - They are exactly opposite, BOB is slow and powerful, but CURT is fats and weak. Try to get an ace when you are serving to BOB. After you beat them the blue man will award you with the junior class doubles medal. Then Bob and Curt will congratulate you on your victory. Now you can use the senior court!!! SENIORS : Go to the Senior courts and talk to the lady in-between the two courts, Emily , (the lady that showed you around in the beginning). She will ask if you would like to play a Senior class rankings match , select yes and you'll be playing the 3rd ranked team. You will probably notice that the courts here are clay instead of composition. CURT (GREEN) + BETH (ORANGE) - They aren't that hard, but they are a lot harder than any other team you've played so far. Curt didn't do much when I played them, Beth did everything. BRIAN (RED) + JOY (PURPLE) - There isn't much to say about this pair, they are hard, put not too hard. FAY (BLUE) + ALLIE (YELLOW) - This team can get pretty hard. Watch out when Fay serves, because Allie is a great net player. After you beat Fay and Allie, Emily will award you the senior class doubles medal, and say that her team is now your rival. After you get the medal Fay and Allie will say that they will win next time. YOU ARE NOW A VARSITY SQUAD MEMBER!!!!!!!!!! VARSITY SQUAD : There is only one match in this level , if you win you will be a part of the TRAVELING TEAM . To play This match talk to Mark, the green man standing in the middle of the Varsity Court. MARK + BLUE BOB - Mark is quick and Bob is powerful, they're a perfect combo. After beating them, a screen that tells the standings will appear, YOU WILL BE NUMBER TWO ON THE LIST then Mark and Bob will congratulate you, then your partner will ask you to pinch him (or her) to make sure it isn't a dream. After that Emily and Kevin congratulate you and a screen saying "to be continued", don't turn your gameboy off, just press A. ISLAND OPEN DOUBLES The next time you go into your Mario Tour file it will ask you if you want to play singles or doubles, select doubles to go to the Island Open. You'll walk out of the main building (you will noticed everyone is in white, the Academy's color)and then you'll fly to the Island Open were you will play. SAMMI + SEAN - They will be the hardest thing that you have faced so-far, they are really quick. If you're ahead by a lot don't play easy they might come back. Secrets THE WATER SPRITE : thanks to astroblue and shdwrlm3 for letting me put this here, so give them credit, not me. So, after making the traveling team in singles, apply the iron racket and head on up to the lake behind the training courts(don't confuse this with the fountain in front of the training center ) . There will be a man standing there practicing his swing , talk to him and tell him he has a weak swing, he'll get mad and ask to see your swing. After you show him your swing he'll walk away, and you get so mad because his swing is better that you feel like swinging , if you can swing 100 times in 10 seconds, you get a silver racket , if you can do 150 in 10 seconds you get a gold racket. II. Gameshark Codes Sorry, I have tried long and hard to find my own Gameshark codes, these are all I could find.
