New art, and a few new things here and there. Mostly just getting this onto my new computer and fixing stuff up. Oh, and I'd like to do a spell list for both versions...if I ever have time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- =================== = 4. Introduction = =================== Dragon Warrior 1 originally came out in the 1980s, and it was the first real RPG to grace a video game system (The NES). It proved to be a smash hit in Japan, and the series went on to become the best selling series ever in Japan (except for maybe the Final Fantasy Series). This was the launching point of all RPGs. Dragon Warrior 2 was the sequel to this first revolutionary game. Recently, Enix USA was revitalized, and they decided to release a Game Pak containing both Dragon Warrior 1 and Dragon Warrior 2 for the GBC, much to my delight. Several aspects of the games improved, especially graphics. In Dragon Warrior 1, you play a hero in a medieval world attacked by the evil DracoLord's monsters. Your quest is to vanquish DracoLord himself, and the quest will take you all over the world of Alfregard. In Dragon Warrior 2, you take control of the three descendants of the hero of Dragon Warrior 1, who try to defeat a new fearsome enemy, Hargon. You'll travel over a world twice as big as Alfregard, as you defeat the monsters plaguing the land. This is my first FAQ for GameFAQs, and my second for the Game Boy Lair. It's taken me quite a while to write all this, but I'm thrilled that I did. I really enjoy writing Walkthroughs like this. The Heroes = ================= Dragon Warrior 1- The Hero Best Weapon: Loto Sword Best Armor: Loto Armor Best Shield: Silver Shield The Hero is the only character you control in Dragon Warrior 1. He is excellent at using weapons, and can cast some spells as well. Especially useful are the healing spells that he learns. His powerful attack will help you knock out the enemies with your one on one battles. ============================================================================= Dragon Warrior 2- The Prince of Lorasia Best Weapon: Thunder Sword or Devil Sword (opinion) Best Armor: Loto Armor Best Shield: Loto Shield Best Helmet: Loto Helmet The guy you start out with is an excellent weapon user. Extremely useful in nearly all situations, he dishes out serious damage to his enemies. Good defense and excellent HP make him great. His only drawback is that he can't cast any spells at all, but your companions will make up for that. ============================================================================= The Prince of Cannock Best Weapon: Light Sword Best Armor: Fur Armor Best Shield: Heal Shield Best Helmet: Magic Helmet When you catch up with him, you'll immediately need to level him up, but when you do, he can dish out good damage with his weapons as well. Good attack, okay defense, and pretty good HP are his strengths. Luckily, he also has many spells, including important healing spells, as well as status changers and attack spells. His MP (Magic Points) is nice and high too. ============================================================================= The Princess of Moonbrook Best Weapon: Bolt Wand Best Armor: Water Cloak She's pretty useless when you get her, but when you level her up, her healing and attack spells rule. Her attack and defense are pathetic, and you'll find yourself reviving her more than once. Her HP is low as well, but she makes up for that with a high MP. But she is very useless in attacking. Explodet is an awesome spell! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- =================================== = 6. Dragon Warrior 1 Walkthrough = =================================== Now here it is, the whole walkthrough of the game Dragon Warrior 1. You'll travel across continents, through cities and dungeons, and across mountains before you reach your final destination, DracoLord's palace. Have fun! ============================================================================= Tantagel Castle: Alfregard is under attack by the evil DracoLord, who wants the kingdom for himself. In addition, he has kidnapped Lady Lora, daughter of the king, who has been gone for some time before the start of the game. The king will talk to you at the beginning of your quest, and he'll give you three things: Some gold (100), a torch for dungeons, and a key to get out of the castle. Take them and head downstairs. Now poke around the castle, exploring it. For example, from the entrance outside, go up and right to find some pots. Press A to search into them. One contains a healing Herb that you can heal yourself with. Look around the castle if you want, then head outside, the Overworld. Just go up and right a little into that town you see. ============================================================================= Town of Tantagel: You should explore the town, and walk around first. Then go to the weapons shop at the top left, and you'll have a choice of what to buy. I recommend that you should buy a Bamboo Stick, and Clothes. Then go to the item shop and buy a Dragon Scale. Equip all three items and head outside to train. ============================================================================= Overworld: Now go to the forest above the town and walk around in it for a while. Eventually, you'll be attacked by a monster, most likely, a Slime. Attack it, and repeat if necessary to kill it. You'll gain experience points and gold, one experience point for a Slime and two for a Red Slime. You'll need 7 Experience Points to get to Level 2, and 23 to get to level 3. When you reach level 3, you'll learn your first magic spell, heal, which will definitely come in handy. Keep training until you reach level 4 or so, and then prepare to head toward the northwest. You should see some hills, which are better places to train. You can fight Drakys and Spookys there, which give you more experience than Slimes. Continue to train until you finally reach level 5. Now you'll be ready to take on tougher monsters. First, however continue to move northwest until you see a cave. Make sure you bring some torches. ============================================================================= Loto's Cave There aren't any monsters inside, but you'll get some clues to your quest. This will also help you prepare for dungeons that require torches. This place is pretty much a maze, so I'll be your guide. When I tell you to go a direction, I mean to keep going until you hit a wall unless I say otherwise. Now start out by going right and then down. Go down all the way and go left and down again. Now go right, but then immediately go down. Now go right all the way, down, right again, and then start going up. Take the path to the right, and go into the stairs. Now go up and left, go down the first path you see, turn left, up and left. Go up a tiny bit, then left all the way. Now up and right all the way, up and left all the way, and finally, up, right all the way, down, right and up, and you'll finally reach Loto's memorial. Read it, since it gives you some clues in your quest. Now when you finish, exit the cave and return to Tantagel to prepare for the next leg of your journey. ============================================================================= Town of Garinham From Tantagel, head northwest as far as you can, and you should eventually see a new town to explore, Garinham. In this new town, you'll find stronger weapons and armor to use. If you can afford it, buy the Iron Axe, if you can't, train some more around the town until you get enough money. Once you get this weapon, you should also try to get enough money to buy the Chain Armor. Finally, you'll be ready to fight some tougher monsters. ============================================================================= Outworld: Training Again Head down from Garinham, over some hills and through a dense forest. Go across the bridge and train in the hills right next to them. You'll now be fighting some more difficult monsters. Magic Drackys and Magicians are not really too tough, but Scorpions and Skeletons can be difficult. Cast Heal or Fireball if things get desperate. Keep training and gaining gold and experience. Skeletons are excellent experience for early in the quest. If you want to know how far you are from another level, talk to the King of Tantagel Castle. Keep fighting the enemies down here, and if your HP and MP get low, head to the inn at Garinham. If you get enough gold, buy the Chain Armor, which puts up your defense quite a bit. DO NOT BUY THE IRON SHIELD! Try to build yourself up to level 10 or so before venturing out any further. ============================================================================= Western (Rocky) Cave It's now time to test your might. You will now go on a quest through a long cave, but the treasure you will find will be very worthwhile. Anyway, to get to this cave, from Garinham, go South, across the bridge, farther south until you reach mountains, head west and south to get around the mountains, then go far to the east. Finally, you'll be able to enter the maze like cave. Yes, it is pretty difficult to get through, so here comes a nice walkthrough for you. From the starting point, go up and left. Now, go down, right, down, and right again. Now, head a tiny bit up and to the right for a little while. Go back up again, then all the way to the right to the wall. Now go down all the way, until you finally hit another wall. Just go left a little, then a tiny bit down before turning left again. You'll now be at a lake. Follow the path up and to the left around the lake, and get the treasure chest there, containing 350 gold. Now go down and right around the lake until you see another path down. Take it, and now go left and up, and left again, and up one more time. You'll be at a three-way area now. Take the right path, and head all the way to the right, then up a tiny bit before quickly turning left. You'll pass 4 statues as you go left, then up along the path. Follow the path up until you reach the stairs. Now you'll be in the lower basement area. Head down at first, but then turn to the right, staying right at the four-way area. Keep going right, and when you see the second path up, after the four-way, area, where you'll receive more treasure, this time 670 gold! Go back down and right again, and do the same thing at the next path up. More treasure! It's only a torch though. Now go back to the main path, and follow it all the way to the right, then start going down. Quite a ways down, you'll see the first path to the left, which you should take. Now follow this path all the way, then go up, as far as you can go. At the three-way, go to the right at first, then down to another treasure chest, containing the Iron Shield. Normally, you'd need to pay 800 gold for this. Return to the three-way and go left this time. You'll see a carpet leading down, you'll see a treasure chest containing the war ring! Equip it, and go back up to the path and continue left. Now go all the way down, then to the right to the last two treasure chests. They contain a Strength seed to boost your attack and a Mystic Nut to add to your MP. Finally, you'll be done with the cave. If you're at a high level, use the Outside spell to get you out. Otherwise, follow this quick little walkthrough out below. (Go all the way until you hit a wall unless otherwise noted) From the two treasure chests, head left, up, 1st right, down, 1st right, up, right, up, left, and up. You'll now be at the stairs back to the first floor. Now go left, down, right, down, right, down, left, 1st down path, 1st right path, down, right, and up to the lake. Go to the right, around the lake, and take the right path. Then go up, right, up, left, down, left, down, left, 1st up, left, 1st up, right, and go in the stairs again, and you'll finally be done with the Western Cave. ============================================================================= The Eastern Continent With the conquering of the Western Cave, you gained lots of valuable experience and money to use on weapons and armor. A good place to spend it is the town of Kol in the Eastern Continent. To get there, head back down to Tantagel. From there, head up and left around the mountains, and go to the right. Keep going to the right, then down and right, through the swamp, and heading far to the right. Finally, you will cross a bridge, and you'll finally be on the Eastern Continent. Head to the right a little, before going far up through the grassy plain. You'll eventually reach a hilly area, now move right into the forest, and into the Village of Kol in the middle of the forest. ============================================================================= Village of Kol Well, here is a great place to buy new armor. The Steel Armor may be costly at 3000 gold, but it's worth it as it skyrockets your defense up. If you can't afford it yet, train outside of town, and see if you can earn enough. It will be useful down on the Southeastern Continent, the home of many powerful monsters. Now you have a choice. If you are lower than level 12 or so, you should train more, either in the Western Cave, or in the Marshy Cave, far to the South of Kol. At level 12, you learn the excellent Outside spell, which teleports you outside of a cave, and at level 13 you learn the Return spell, which brings you all the way back to Tantagel. Anyway, train, train, train! Then heal at Kol again, and prepare to head on with your quest. But before you leave town, go to the tiny bath in the northern part of down, and search beneath your feet 3 or 4 steps below the Southern entrance to the bath. You'll receive the Pixy Flute, which will help you a great deal later. Now you can go south to the Marshy Cave, and prepare to enter the Southeast Continent. But, ============================================================================= Marshy Cave: The Connection between the East and Southeast Continents This cave is simple to navigate through. It's a maze, but only if you leave the main path. Go down, for a long time, all the way. Then go right a little, down a little, right, then down and left, and you'll reach the exit already. The interior holds a locked door...you'll find out more about it later. For now, head on toward the town of Rimuldar. ============================================================================= The Southeast Continent and the Town of Rimuldar When you exit the Marshy Cave, you'll probably want to go to Rimuldar first, so go ahead and move southeast through hills, forest, and desert. Then you'll reenter the forest, going south with mountains to the west of you. Soon you'll be able to head west, so go west, and northwest, and soon you'll see Rimuldar. Use that town to heal, and often. But if you go outside, and fight the monsters in the forests and hills just south of the city, you won't regret it. The battles will be difficult, but the experience you'll earn is phenomenal. In fact, one monster, Goldman, gives you only a tiny bit of experience, but the gold he leaves is amazing! Use the gold you win to buy the Steel Armor, if you haven't already, and the Steel Sword. If you want, you can buy the Magic Armor, but I don't really like to, because it's too expensive, and not too useful. In addition, you can buy keys by walking along the left outside of the town and discovering the secret key shop. Buy six of them, you'll need them later. Now go outside, and continue to train in the hills. With the new weapon and armor, you'll be able to have an easier time defeating the monsters outside of town. Continue to train before backtracking and opening up the locked areas of Alfregard. The first stop you should make is at Tantagel Castle. Use your Return spell to head back to the castle. ============================================================================= Tantagel Castle: The locked areas I'm sure you remember the locked treasure room in Tantagel Castle on the left side. Go open it up, and take everything inside. Now go to the locked area in the north part of the castle. Head to the right, and you'll find new areas. Explore them if you wish, then head outside. It's another key shop! Replenish your supply of keys, then walk along the southern and eastern walls of the castle. You'll soon find the hidden basement of the castle. Inside is the Sun Stone, one of the most important items in your quest. Store it if you wish in storage, then head outside the Castle, and prepare to return to the east. ============================================================================= The Marshy Cave: Mystery of the Locked Door Now it's time to explore the interior of Marshy Cave. Head east from Tantagel, and enter the cave. From the start, go down and take the second right path, not including the one at the very top. From there, go immediately down, then right, then down again. Make a left, then quickly down and left again, then down to a locked door. Open it and prepare for a difficult battle. Head right, then talk to the Dragon, who will now fight you. Pummel it with weapons, but Heal often, especially when your HP is low. If you manage to defeat him, you'll save Lady Lora, who's been captured for so long. You'll now take her back to the castle, and receive the LoraLuv item, which tells you how far you are from the castle, and how much experience you need to reach the next level. This is an extremely useful item, because now you'll know how far you are until the next level. But alas, it is time for another quest, one that will go deep into a monster-filled lair... ============================================================================= Garin's Tomb This area, located in Garinham, is definitely a test. The enemies will be difficult, especially the Deadnites, but if you're skilled enough, you'll make it through. Go into the big building in Garinham (you'll have to unlock it), then check the black wall three spaces to the right of the top left corner. You'll now be in the tomb, so be prepared for battles. From the start, go up, and right, to be at a three-way. Now go up to the four-way area, and head to the right. Go all the way, then turn up. Now go left, and you should be able to see three treasure chests, containing a Life Acorn, a Key, and 537g. Take everything inside, and go back to the right. From the treasure chests, instead of going back the way you came, take the path below. Pass the opportunity to go right, and instead head all the way down. Now go right, then down again. Continue heading down, making tiny lefts and rights where necessary, until you see a locked door. Use a key to unlock it, and start heading along the path to the left. You'll finally reach stairs going down to the next basement. Take them, and now go up and all the way left to the stairs. Go down the stairs, and go up, then left. Continue along the only path, down and left, until you reach an area where you can go up or down. Go up and get the treasure chest, which contains 343g. Now go back down and make the first right. Follow that path to return to the stairs you came by. Now go down to the next set of stairs. Take them, and go right a tiny bit before going up. Continue going up, making another tiny right, then go up all the way and turn right again. Continue going up, but go right again quickly, and go into the stairs. In this deep basement, go around the blocked off wall until you can access the stairs. Now go up and right, and claim your prize, Garin's (Shiny) Harp! Use the Outside spell to escape, and use return to head to Tantagel Castle. ============================================================================= Northern Cave: The Rain Staff From Tantagel Castle, return to Kol one more time. Now, follow the forests to the left, and then the hills southwest until you reach more forests. Now, follow the forrests left, then northwest, until you see a cave. Enter it, and talk to the sage there. Now you can exchange the harp you got for an incredibly important item, the Rain Staff. Together, with the Sun Stone, they serve a vital purpose...but not yet. Ah, by now your training has paid off. You should be ready to take on the difficult monsters in the Southwest, and soon, the even tougher monsters in the South. ============================================================================= The Southwest: Powerful monsters... From Garinham, you'll want to heal, then head south of it, to around to area where you originally trained a while ago. Continue moving south until you reach the mountains. Go left until you reach the grass area, and follow the path the grass makes south and then southeast. When the path ends, move into the forest and move south a little more. You'll finally reach a bridge. Cross the bridge and prepare for battle. You can train in the forest next to the bridge or the hilly area southwest of that forest. Both are good areas to encounter difficult monsters. These monsters will be worth plenty of experience, and you'll be gaining levels in no time. The next town you'll want to head for is Mercado, but you should be at Level 17 before you go there because at level 17 you'll have the Healmore spell. This spell will regain your life in no time. When you think you're ready, prepare to go for Mercado by healing and make sure you have the PIXIE FLUTE in your inventory. Okay, now from the bridge you crossed, head southwest through the forest and enter the hilly area. Move south until you reach a desert area, and move southeast, following the desert as long as you can. Now when you reach the end of the desert area, continue heading south into a hilly area, and move south until you reach the lake. Since mountains block your path to the east, go around the lake by heading left, down, and right, across the bridge. You are now in the territory of the South, home to some of the most powerful monsters in Alfregard. Fight with care, and conserve MP. If you have to, run away from difficult battles. From the bridge, head east into the forest, and head northeast through the thick of the forest until you finally reach a grassy clearing in the deep South. Ignore the bridge on your right and continue to move north and northeast, into another forest. You'll be turning east, and finally you'll reach another grassy clearing and a bridge. Cross this bridge to head into the swamp. From the swamp, head south into the grassy area, and south until you see a town. However, something is blocking your way in... ============================================================================= The Golem It's another boss for you to fight, and he would be tough except for one thing. Remember the Pixie Flute I told you to bring along? Use it as an item, and the Golem should fall asleep. While he's asleep, attack him until he wakes up. When he wakes up, use the Pixie Flute again to make him fall back asleep. Continue to do this until the Golem is finally vanquished. You can now head into Mercado. ============================================================================= Mercado Now that you're in Mercado at last, heal at the inn and look for the weapons shop. You'll have to use a key to unlock a door and head upstairs to finally find it. You can buy a new weapon here, the Flame Sword, but it will set you back 9800g. Buy that, and if you can afford it, the Silver Shield as well. Head into the big building in the middle and walk across the traps, healing when your HP is low. If you reach the other side, a town person will give you the coordinates for Loto's Seal. If you don't want to do that, the coordinates are 70 South and 40 East of the castle. The numbers stand for the number of steps. Anyway, to get the seal you'll have to be in the Heart of the Deep South, so I think you should train outside Mercado for a while. The training will pay off later, when you're inside DracoLord's castle. But before you go for Loto's Seal, you'll need another, just as important item... ============================================================================= The Legendary Armor and the Ghost Town When you reach Level 19 and learn Firebane, leave Mercado and head across the bridge north of it. Head way southwest, back the way you came, and cross the bridge by the little lake in the Southwest. Then head north through the hills and into the desert. Now head north, but then northeast to find a destroyed town. Inside the town, go to the far right, and look around the swamp around the area where a shop used to be. You should encounter an enemy, a Knight that wants to kill you. Wait a minute, that's what all the monsters want to do. Uh, anyway, defeat him by using Firebane, which should hurt him badly. When he's defeated, Go one step to the right and press A to search. You'll get the Loto armor! Equip it immediately, and now the swamp poison will not affect you. ============================================================================= Loto's Seal: Hidden in the Swamp After you have Loto's armor, leave Domdora and return to Mercado to heal. Now you can go get Loto's seal. Head out from Mercado and back to the bridge north of the town. Now head west, and then southwest until you reach a clearing the forest and see a bridge on the right. Cross it, and follow the grassy area southeast. Now go east into the little forest and into the swamp. Thanks to Loto's armor, the swamp won't damage you. Keep heading far to the east and use LoraLuv often to check your coordinates. Position yourself at 70,40 and press A to search underfoot. You get the Loto's seal! Now cast Return to go to Tantagel. ============================================================================= The Mystery of DracoLord's castle Now you have the Rain Staff, the Sun Stone, and the Loto Seal. From Tantagel, head east to the Tunnel where you fought the Dragon, and pass through it to get to Rimuldar. Now from there, head south through the forrest and the hills. Follow this hills south, and when you reach the end of them, head southwest to reach a bridge. Now go south again, and go around the mountains to reach the middle of the island, which contains a Shrine. Enter it, and talk to the person there. He'll make the Rainbow Drop for you, which will somehow get you to DracoLord's castle. How? Return to Rimuldar, and head Northwest, as far as you can go, into the desert and to the area where only one little bit of water prevents you from reaching DracoLord's castle. Now you'll use the Rainbow Drop. It'll make a bridge for you, allowing you to enter DracoLord's castle. What are you waiting for? Go in! ============================================================================= DracoLord's castle You're finally inside. It's the last journey you will have to make, so do a good job. Start going up and turning left immediately. Follow that path left and then up. It will go right, then down and you'll have a choice, whether to open a locked door or to go down along another thin path. Take the thin path down and follow it as it goes down, right, then up, all the way to the throne. Go around the throne to the back, and search beneath your feet. If you find nothing, move one square and try again. You should find a hidden stairwell! Now take it downstairs and cast Radiant. Go down and open the locked door right away, and follow that path down then left. Stay on the path going left, even as it snakes down and left. By the way, you should be fighting the enemies that you encounter. They are good experience, and the damage you take will be healed by the Loto Armor as you walk. Anyway, the path heads down/left, then straight down. Finally, it will turn toward the right, so keep following it. Now you'll have a choice between an upper path and a lower. Take the upper path, and continue heading right. At long last, you'll find a staircase going downstairs, so take it. From the start of the new floor, go left, not up. Follow that path left, up, and it will continue to snake left and up. Soon it will turn to the right, then up again. Keep going up all the way, then take the right path at the end of the path. Follow this path, continuing to go right, and then down along a new path. Follow this new path as it makes several turns, going down, right, and even left. Finally you'll reach an intersection so take the path going down, where you should see a staircase, that you should now enter. At the start go left, into a large area, then go up to two treasure chests, one with a little gold, the other with an Herb. Now just go back to the staircase and go right this time, then follow that path right and up. Ignore the staircase, and continue heading up and left along a smaller path. Keep going left for quite a while until you finally reach another staircase, which you should take. At this time, go down all the way and then turn right. Take the upper path and go up, until you see a staircase going up, which you should take. Back on a higher floor, go down and right to another staircase. On this floor just go to the staircase heading up just next to you. Now go up to a treasure chest, it's the Loto Sword! Equip it right away, and go back down to the staircase and the lowest floor. All right, back on the lowest floor, go straight down to the lower path you bypassed before. Follow the path, which will head right, then up, then turn right again onto a new path. Follow the new path right and then it too turns up. Follow it up until you see a staircase surrounded by pillars. Go down, and now follow the path on this floor down for quite a while. Finally, follow it left for a while, and then up all the way to another staircase. Now, in a huge room, go on a straight line to the right, where you should reach another staircase. Finally, you are now on the lowest floor. Go straight up and follow the path which should be very thin. Open a locked door on your left, to a bunch of treasure chests. They contain (clockwise from the right), a Devil Belt (DO NOT EQUIP!), a Mystic Nut, an Herb, 417 gold, empty, a Key, empty, 535 gold, and a Warp Wing. Okay, go back to the path and go back down until you can take a new path left. Do so and go left all the way and take the path up that is the farthest to the left. Now follow that path up, and then turn right into a new path. Keep going right and follow the path right and up slightly. Soon it turns to go straight down, so follow it down. Go down onto the sand and head right and cross the bridge. Go down and left and cross the second bridge. Go straight down and then get back onto the path with the red carpet. This path will go left, so follow it and you'll end up at...DracoLord's throne room...Heal, and talk to DracoLord when you're ready. He'll offer to give you half the world if you join him. Answer "NO!" He'll ask you again, but don't change your mind and answer NO again, and he'll utter the fateful words... "So you insist on fighting with me? Fool! You will pay for your stupidity with your life!" That's right, you are now fighting DracoLord. Attack him at first, but watch out as he likes to cast Firebane and HealMore. Keep hitting him, and heal when your HP gets low with a HealMore of your own. He can also catch sleep, so watch out. DracoLord does not have very much life, so he isn't too difficult, as long as you are at least at Level 22 or so. But wait... "DracoLord's form slowly fades... Oh! DracoLord's true form emerged!" Now you'll really be in for a fight! Heal right away if your HP is low, then hit DracoLord. His strongest move is the Intense Flames, which can hit you for 50 damage, so heal often. He can also breathe regular fire, but it only hurts 10-15, so be happy when he does that. His normal attack will do 30-40 damage, depending on your level. Heal often, but keep hitting him with the Loto Sword. Eventually, if you don't succumb, you'll outlast DracoLord and defeat him! WARNING: The ending is spoiled ahead. Read on only if you want to know everything about the ending. ============================================================================= The Ending "The Hero removed the Light Orb from DracoLord's hand. When the Light Orb was held aloft... A blinding light pierced the dark. Peace returned to the world!" And now, you have won. You have proven yourself stronger than DracoLord, and now you can walk around the world, as the victor. I'll just skip to Tantagel Castle. Cast return to get there, and enter the castle. If you talk to anyone, they will praise you and thank you for your extraordinary effort. Go now, to the King, and talk to him. He offers for you to take his place as the ruler of Tantagel and the world of Alfregard. But you the Hero, replied... "No, your Highness. If I were to rule, I would seek my own land and build my own kingdom." The King understands, and won't stop you. At this point, Lora emerges and offers to join you. No matter what you do, you'll be forced to say yes, making Lora very happy, and the two of you will walk down and the credits will now come on. After them you'll see "The End." Congratulations! Now try Dragon Warrior 2! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- =================================== = 7. Dragon Warrior 2 Walkthrough = =================================== It's been over a hundred years since the Hero defeated DracoLord and married LadyLora. But now turmoil is again present everywhere. In Dragon Warrior 2, you'll be in a larger world, the world surrounding Alfregard, and the kingdoms that the Hero founded. You'll start by witnessing a horrific act at the Castle Moonbrook, where the King, a descendant of Loto and the Hero, dies while defending the castle. It seems that another demon, Hargon was behind the attack on Moonbrook. One soldier escapes and heads to Lorasia Castle, where another descendant of the Hero is King. He tells his son, the Prince of Lorasia to go out on a journey to defeat Hargon and bring peace to the land once again. He advises to gather all three descendants of Loto to help the prince, you, in your quest. Once the intro is over, you'll receive a nice Copper Sword and a little money. Exit the castle, and go into the forest north of Lorasia to train against Slimes and other weak enemies. ============================================================================= Cannock Castle: Search for the Prince You should get to level 3 with no problems fighting the Slimes around Lorasia. But now they are worth meaningless experience. Venture toward the west, and the northwest, and you'll fight slightly tougher enemies in the forests. They still aren't very difficult, but they'll be worth more experience. Once you finally get to Level 4/5, head northwest from Lorasia, following the forests to the northwest. You'll be traveling quite a distance, but when you see mountains to the north, try going around them on their left side. You should see Cannock Castle, which you should enter. It's important for you to get a new weapon by now, so buy the Sickle with your newly won cash. However, if you feel that armor is more important at this point of the game, you can buy the Chain Armor. Either way, your choices are good, and you should explore the Castle thoroughly, and talk to the townspeople. When you reach the King, he'll tell you that the Prince has gone off to the Hero's Spring. You'll have to go there if you want to convince him to join you. ============================================================================= Path to The Hero's Spring NOTE: From now on, I'll refer to the Prince of Lorasia as the Hero, and the Prince of Cannock as the Prince, to avoid confusion. From Lorasia, you'll need to head north through the hills, and into the swamp you should see if you just simply keep moving up. If you don't see it, try moving left and up a little. Move into the swamp and go around the lake using the left side. Head left through the forest into a clearing. Once you're in the clearing, go up and around the mountains, heading to the right. You should be between the mountains and a lake. Move along the path these two features make, up and to the right. Ignore the bridge on the left, and head up and right into another forest. Keep moving along and you should reach the Hero's Spring. ============================================================================= The Hero's Spring Now that you finally made it, enter the Cave and head up and right along the path. Continue heading up and ignore the paths on your left. Take the path to the right, and continue to move until you reach a small lake. Now go and right, around it, and keep going right then down. Head down until you see a treasure chest, which contains an Herb. Now go back up, and take the path to the right. Follow this path, going right, down, and left quite a ways, until you can go up and take the contents of another treasure chest, this one containing 86 gold. Now go back down, and all the way to the right, all the way up, and left until you reach the lake again. Go around to the top of the lake, then go up. Go up as far as you can, then go right into another path. Follow this path to the right, up, to the left, and down and left some more. You'll reach odd looking rocks, and a path up, but ignore them for now and go left to receive another treasure chest, containing an Antidote, in case you get poisoned. Now go take that path up and talk to the man there. The man tell you that the Prince left to go find you at Lorasia, and he'll also heal you. So exit the Spring by taking the path to the right again, heading right, up, right, down, left, and down to that little lake again. Go left and follow that path down and left until you reach a path going down. Take that path, and follow it down until you finally reach the exit. ============================================================================= Finishing up the Search... Now that you're out of the spring, head down and left back the way you came to it. Go in that little area between the mountains and the lake, and after you get through that, go down and right into the forest until you see the swamp. Go toward the swamp, and enter it, continuing to go down. After you exit the swamp at the South little entrance, go down for a while, through the hills, until you finally see Lorasia castle. Enter the castle, and go up to heal and talk to the King. You missed the Prince again! Sheesh, he's pretty evasive...anyway, the King will say he went back to Cannock, but don't bother going there. Instead, from Lorasia, head to the west, but not far to the north. If you see some swamps, you're going the right way. Keep going left, around the swamps, and you should see a town. Enter it, and head to the right, to the inn. Talk to the man inside the inn. It's the Prince! About time, too, I'm starting to lose my patience. Anyway, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that the wild goose chase is finally over. The bad news is that the Prince is at Level 1. So take MORE of your time to train him around the town, Leftwyne, or around Cannock to build him up. The Hero may gain a level or two as well. It's quite possible the Prince will die while you train him. If this happens, go to a town, and look for a Church. They'll revive the Prince. Also, try to buy Chain Armor and a Sickle for him. When the Hero is at least at level 7, and the Prince is at Level 5 or 6, you'll be ready to go to the lake cave. ============================================================================= The Lake Cave: The Silver Key From Cannock, go up and left, for quite a while, until you reach a bridge. Cross the bridge and go into the forest, going down and left, but staying close to the mountains on the top. When the mountains disappear, continue to go left, until you see a double bridge just up and left from you. Cross that bridge, and enter the Lake Cave. From the start, go down, left a tiny bit, and down again. Now go left and open the treasure chest. Take the contents, and go back right and up. Now go left, until you see water below you. Head down along another path, and go right into the black area once you see it. There will be another treasure chest, containing a Slot Token, for you to take. Go back up and into the blackened area, and now go up to the left side of the lake, and go left. Follow the path left, into yet another black area, until you can finally take a path down. Now go down until you see some stairs to the next basement, which you should go through. Now go left, and down along the wide path, but take the first right into another blackened area. In there is a treasure chest with a Life Acorn, which will put up your max HP for one person. Use it on whoever you wish, then head back left and down along the wide path again. When you reach a four way area, with no blackened areas in sight, take the left path to get another treasure chest. Go back to the wide path and take it all the way down until it ends. Now go left until you reach two more treasure chests that you can take. Go back all the way to the right, and then all the way down until you reach the silver key. Take it, and turn back all the way back up. Head to the left and then up all the way on the wide path. Go right and take the stairs back upstairs. Now go up, and take the path to the right, which should bring you back to the little lake. Go up until you hit the wall, and go right all the way, and then back up again to the exit. Return to Cannock castle by heading right, along the top of the mountains to the right, and across the bridge until you finally reach Cannock. Save and heal, and prepare for the next area of your quest. ============================================================================= The Middle Continent: Heart of the World You'll probably be around level 8 or 9, after your voyage into the lake cave. Now, from Cannock, head Southwest, and you should see an area to enter. It's a gate to another continent. Enter and go downstairs. Now that you're downstairs, just keep going right, then down until you reach the next continent and go upstairs again. You'll exit the Shrine. Now you'll be on the Middle Continent, with stronger monsters to fight. Fight your way south, and try to stay on grassy areas. Keep moving south, and southwest a little as well. Follow the thin continent as it gets wider, and keep going south. Make sure you don't cross any bridges. Eventually, you should see a town, the town of Hamlin, an important stop on your journey. Why don't you pay a visit? Enter the town, but if you aren't hurt at all, train outside a little before you enter so that you can earn more experience and gold. ============================================================================= Hamlin This is a nice town, and it contains some goodies. Heal yourself at the inn, and talk to the man in the north side of town. He'll tell you how far you are from another level and even save for you! Now, go to the bottom right and enter the store. You'll want to buy a Steel Sword for the Hero and a Spear for the Prince. If you don't have enough for both of these, train outside town until you do. There are also excellent armor upgrades, especially for the Hero. When you can afford them, buy Steel Armor and the Steel Shield. Oh, if the prince does not have a leather shield, or Chain Armor, buy it for him. This should drain your cash very quickly, so train just outside of town to re-earn your gold. If the enemies are too weak for you, you can also train across the bridge southeast of town, where the enemies are tougher. When these new enemies start to become easy for you, you've reached a choice. ============================================================================= OPTIONAL QUEST: The Ruins of Moonbrook Castle Moonbrook is literally in the middle of the world...well...at least it was. In the beginning, you witnessed the destruction of the castle by Hargon's forces. If you want, you can head out to the ruins and get some clues for your quest. You'll also gain some nice experience. First of all, if you want to go, cross the bridge southeast of Hamlin, and turn to the southwest. Continue moving West and Southwest, but if you go too far, you'll hit water on your left, the ocean of the world. If that happens, go south and southeast slightly to find the castle. Enter the ruins of the castle, and go up all the way and speak with the spirit of the King, who was killed in the battle. After that, go down and left across the main path going left. Turn up when you first can and left again to the spirit. Wait for the spirit to move out of the way, and head up and left, but don't go into the swamp. Go one step left of the outermost wall, and go down for a while. You'll enter a tiny swamp, then a bigger one. In the bigger one, when you can reenter Moonbrook, go right. Follow the path to the stairs and talk to the soldier there. He's the only survivor of the attack, and will die after you talk to him, but his words are valuable. Your quest is now over. Return to Hamlin northeast of the castle, and heal there, you'll need it. But now you know the clues to the missing princess's whereabouts. ============================================================================= The Missing Princess You don't have to go to Moonbrook, it's entirely optional. Either way, now you'll be ready to look for the Princess. You should make sure you're strong enough so that you can go on a prolonged quest fighting monsters like the one across the bridge near Hamlin. Okay, from the bridge, go west and southwest, to around where Moonbrook is. From Moonbrook, you'll head East and slightly South. Head far to the east, and north slightly north when you're far. If you see a small swamp that is a square, head for that. Now go to the top right square of the swamp and search underneath your feet. It's the Lar Mirror! Drag yourself all the way back to Hamlin again, moving west, north, and east (generally), and heal yourself at the inn. Go to the north side of the town, and face the dog that you see there. Now use the Lar Mirror. Whoa! Magically, the dog turns into a woman! It's the Princess of Moonbrook! Unfortunately, she's horribly weak and at level 1. Buy a Knife for her at the Item Shop, and head outside to train her, a lot. ============================================================================= Path to the Tower of Wind Training the Princess is long and time consuming. When training, it's usually best to let her defend, she really can't deal any damage at all. But don't worry, soon enough she'll learn excellent spells for you. She even starts out with Healmore, which will prove very valuable up until the end of the game! Anyway, to get to the Tower of Wind, head east and slightly northeast of Hamlin. You should eventually reach a bridge. Don't cross it, instead head north along the river. You'll soon reach another bridge. Cross that bridge and head south along the path the mountains and ocean make. The path will take you south quite a ways. You'll be over desert ground for a while, but when you reach the forest, head toward the left. When you see a bridge, cross it into the hills and head south. You'll cross more bridges heading down and right. Finally, in the clearing, head to the left and you'll find the Tower of Wind ============================================================================= The Tower of Wind and the Wind Cloak Enter the tower of wind, and head down. Pass up the stairs and keep going down. Head toward the exit all the way down, but don't go through that, instead, head along the path just up and right from the exit. In there is a treasure chest with an Herb, which you might need if you're low on MP. Now, go back to the main path and back up. When you reach the big central area, with the stairs, take the right path. Follow it right, but DON'T step on the grass! Just before you reach the grass, go up, where you'll find stairs. Head up the stairs, and go left, but don't fall off the tower! Keep going left until you reach more stairs to climb. Head up those new stairs, and go down now, making sure not to fall off of the tower. Head down, and you'll soon see a path to the right. Take it and open the treasure chest, containing 350 gold. Go back left, and then down into the next staircase. Now go all the way to the right, ignoring the first staircase you see, and taking the one on the far right of the tower. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO FALL OFF! Head up to the next stairs, and now enter them. From there, head up and right along the inner wall. Continue hugging the inner wall, going up and soon left. Enter the staircase you should see, and after you enter it, head into the next staircase immediately. Go down, and take the treasure chest, a Wizard Ring! Do you know how to pass items? Press B to get to the main menu, select item, select whoever has the Wizard Ring. Find the Wizard Ring and press A. Select Pass, and then to the Princess. Now the Princess will have the Wizard Ring! Okay, now that you know how to pass items, go back into the stairs going down, and immediately down again. Head along the inner wall again, going right, turning down, and going into the staircase heading down. Now head along the path you're on going down, being very careful not to fall off of the tower, and going downstairs again. Head to the left, but go into the stairs that you bypassed on the way up. Follow this new path going left and up, and then right into the stairs. Head down into the stairs again, and repeat this for the next level. You should now see an item, it's the Wind Cloak! Pass it to the Hero, who should now equip it, under item. Now leave the tower by casting Outside, which the Prince learns at level 12. If you don't have Outside, go back up a few levels, until you reach the level where you are on the path hugging the Outside of the tower. Just walk off of the tower to exit it. Now cast Return, which you BETTER have, since you learn it before outside, and you'll be back at Hamlin. ============================================================================= The Journey: An Endless Walk I hope the title of this section didn't scare you off. Now you finally have the ability to head to the next town, Lianport. But it is a LONG way from Hamlin. Gather your courage and strength, make sure you're healed, and leave Hamlin. Cross the Southeast bridge, and say goodbye to it. After crossing the bridge, head down and left, and use the grassy area so that you don't encounter too many enemies. Keep using it, and head left, and you should reach a little desert area. Head down to reach Moonbrook and now go left to reach a bridge. Cross the bridge, and head down and left to reach a shrine. Take note of the Priest there, if someone is killed, you can be resurrected there. Head left from the Priest and up the stairs, and you'll be on a new continent, with new enemies to fight. Many will be familiar, though. Anyway, follow the grassy area left. Make sure you stay on it, so you won't encounter too many enemies. You'll soon reach a desert, and this is where it gets tough. Enter the desert area, and head up so that you can see the water, and use it as a guide. Head left and up, keeping the water in sight at all times. Cross the hills to reach the next grassy area, and the water should still be on the right. Unfortunately, you'll now have to trek into a forest, but you shouldn't get lost as long as you keep the water in sight. When you reach the next clearing, a grassy area, head into it. You'll be going up now, toward a tower, so enter it, at the end of the grassy area. As soon as you enter, go right and up the stairs. There will be a large hole in the middle of the next few floors, so make sure you don't fall in. On the second floor, head up and around the hole, up, left, then down to the stairs. On the third floor, head up, right, and down, around the big hole to the stairs. The fourth floor is exactly like the second floor, so it should be no problem. The fifth floor is exactly like the third floor, so it too should be simple. On the sixth floor, head left and up to what appears to be a dead end. But if you equip the Wind Cloak and jump off the Tower at the top side, it'll carry you to the next continent! For now, ignore the new tower that you see, but take not of where it is. Follow the small grassy path up and to the left, but it should soon grow into a large area. Go right toward the hills, following the path. Amazingly, your walk is nearly over! Keep going to the right, and you'll finally see a town, much to your relief. Enter the town called Lianport, and head to the inn immediately. You need a break. ============================================================================= Lianport and the Ship Yes, enter the town, heal, SAVE, and smile. The walk is now a memory, and soon you'll earn some nice rewards for this walk. Go to the weapons shop after the inn, and buy 2 Wizard Wands for the Prince and the Princess, and 3 Evade Armors for everyone. If you sell all of your old weapons and armor, you should have enough to spare. If you don't, fight enemies around town to earn some more gold. Make sure you're all healed and go to the little area to the left of the weapons shop, and you'll see something suspicious. Monsters seem to be picking on a girl, and she'll ask you to help her. Either way you choose, the monsters will attack. Concentrate on one at a time, having everyone attack, and you'll win the battle easily. The girl will take you to meet her grandfather, who will allow you to sail on his boat! Now you can pretty much sail to anywhere in the world! Your quest is much more open ended now, but I'll give you a good order to use for proceeding. Save, heal, and prepare to sail! ============================================================================= Return to Alfregard: Tantagel Castle Town Yes, the land where Dragon Warrior 1 took place is your next stop. Board the ship and go up into the building. Follow the path, and you'll be out of town, in the ocean. Just east is Alfregard, but the best way to get to Tantagel is by going up following the coast. Ignore any river you see. When it turns right, go right. Continue heading right until the land is finally going down. Turn south and follow the coast into a bay. Go left, and you'll see a river, which you should go into. You'll pass between two caves, and you'll see two castles. Get off the ship right next to the North castle, and enter the Castle, which is Tantagel. Go explore the castle, if you want, and talk to the people there. When you're done with that, head left into the town area of the castle, and go to the weapons shop. You'll want to buy a Hammer at the very least, and if you can afford it, also an Iron Helmet for the Hero. Train a little outside of town, but before that, make sure you find the guy that allows you to save. Earn enough money to buy the Hammer if you couldn't afford it before. You should be ready for DracoLord's Castle as long as your hero is at least at Level 13- 15. So leave town, board the ship, and sail south to the other castle, and enter it. ============================================================================= Deja vu: DracoLord's Castle As soon as you enter, you'll notice something odd. This castle is in terrible shape. But it's not your loss. From the entrance, head left and up around the little wall. After you get around it head right then up in a little section between walls. Keep going up until you reach the stairs, and enter them. Now follow the only path to the left. Follow the path as it twists toward down and left. Soon you'll just be heading straight down, and then you'll turn to the right, where you'll see the stairs that you now must enter. Now in the second basement, follow the path down and to the right. Keep going down and you'll soon turn left. Follow the winding path down and left, but now it will turn toward up. Keep going left and up along this path, and now it will turn up and right. Follow this path all the way up and right and finally you'll enter the stairs to the third basement. As you continue to descend, the monsters will get harder. Don't do anything stupid, and make sure you are fully healed. If you run out of MP, use the Wizard Ring you got back in the Wind Tower, as much as you need to. Now in the third basement, follow the path to the right and turn up when the path does. You'll see a staircase in the top right corner, but ignore it and head to the left when you reach the rocks. Move left and then, down to the stairs to the fourth basement. Now take the right path and follow it until the end, where you turn up. Head left a little into a fairly large area, and you'll see three staircases. Take the only one leading upstairs. On the next two floors, keep following the little path until you reach the staircase going up. After that, you'll see a staircase going back down, so take it. You'll finally find a treasure chest, and it contains the Loto Sword! For the Hero, it's only as good as the Hammer, so instead let the Prince equip it. Now just simply head back along those tiny paths with the stairs, all the way until you reach the floor with the large area you explored before. When you reach it, head a little up and left and go down the stairs there. Follow the path down for a while, then follow it left, and then up to the stairs. You'll be in a large area, but just go right to the next set of stairs. You're now on the bottom floor. Follow the path up, left, then up immediately into the strange looking floor. You'll take heavy damage, but if the Prince has the Stepguard spell, use it! If he doesn't check your HP every two steps or so and HEAL! Unlock the door with the Silver Key, and open all four Treasure Chests. One contains 151 gold, another has the important World Map, another has Steel Armor, and the last one has a Strength Seed. The gold is little, the Armor is good only for selling. The STR seed should be given to the Prince, and as for the World Map, well, it's so helpful. Take a peek at the World Map, and it will show you the World, including your current position. Now back to the task at hand. Head back down through the damaging floor and then go left and up along the thin path. Turn right, following the path, and then down, where the path goes. You'll exit the path and be on sand; follow it and cross the bridge. Cross the second bridge as well. Now go down and left, into the path with the brown floor, and head left. AHHHH! It's DRACOLORD! Heal, and then talk to him. It's actually the great grandson of the DracoLord slayed by the Hero of Dragon Warrior 1. He's angered by Hargon who thinks that he is stronger than DracoLord's great grandson is. He'll tell you a secret if you agree to eliminate Hargon, so say yes. He tells you to collect five Seals, which will give you the protection of an elemental spirit, and says that Hargon cannot be defeated without collecting them. Have the Prince cast Outside and go North to Tantagel. Wow, that was an exhausting, tiring quest, but the World Map, and the advice was worth it. Plus, you didn't have to fight DracoLord's great grandson! Make sure you save and heal at Tantagel. You now know what your quest is. You must retrieve the five seals to have any hope of saving your World. But where could they be? DracoLord's great grandson hinted at one being somewhere south of the Old town of Mercado which is now gone, but don't go there yet, because the enemies there are difficult. You'll want to spend some time training, because right now, you're too weak to collect the five Seals. Train anywhere in the World you want, around Tantagel, while sailing, but before you explore new areas, save. If you happen to stumble across incredibly difficult enemies, you might be slaughtered, which is not good. So, where do we go now? ============================================================================= A Long Journey on The Sea Okay, your hero's at level 16, you think you're ready to go on. But where? Well, a good idea is to um...end the problem you've had in almost every town. That problem is being unable to open the gold locked doors. You need a gold key! Let's get one! From Tantagel, exit Alfregard along the east exit of the river. Now, the town you need to get to is the VERY BOTTOM RIGHT ISLAND of the world. Maybe it'll be faster if you go up and left. So do that, head up and around Alfregard and then go up and left, checking the world map every so often to make sure you're heading for the top left corner. Once you make it all the way up there, continue going up and left. When you check the world map, you should be in the southeast corner of the world. Use the map as a guide to reach the island and the town of Zahan. ============================================================================= Zahan and the Shrine At first, there isn't very much to do here. There are some people in the town, but it feels empty. Go up and right until you find a dog. Talk to it, and it will move. Follow it and position yourself in front of it and press A. If nothing happens, go to the other side and press A. You'll find something underneath your feet...it's the gold key! Now we can open up all those silly locked doors. Go to the inn if you need to and exit the town. Just down and left from the town is a shrine, so go ahead and enter it. Inside you'll see a strange portal, enter it and the world will go blurry. It'll transport you to a familiar place. Go left and then up and right around the portal. Recognize the area? Yes, it's Lorasia Castle all right. Go up and talk to the king if you want, but then go for the treasure you couldn't get before. It's to the right of the main path. Here is the treasure, starting clockwise from the bottom right: Mystic Nut, Loto Seal, STR seed, 1196 gold, Life Acorn, Herb. Nice treasures, and the Loto Seal will be very useful later...but for now, go back into the teleportal and head back to the shrine and Zahan. The Loto Seal is basically proof that you are indeed the descendent of Loto. ============================================================================= Quest for the Seals: Road to Hargon DracoLord's great grandson told you that you need to find five Seals in order to have any hope of defeating Hargon. The Loto Seal was not one of these five hidden seals that you need to get. Where could the others be? One is nearer than you might think. From Zahan, sail northwest to the island nearest Zahan's island. Use the world map if you can't find it. That map becomes more and more useful as you progress through the game. Anyway, land on the island and you'll see a shrine, so go ahead and enter it. You'll see three teleportals in front of you, but don't go in any of them for now. Instead go to the right wall opening and take on step into the grassy area. Now go up until you are next to the tree, and search with A under your feet. Wow, it's the Sun Seal! Now you have one of the five seals under your belt. But this was an easy one to get. Getting the other four seals will require battling, exploration, and side quests galore. So get on your boat and prepare to sail once again. ============================================================================= Wellgarth: Secret of the Keys Before you do anything, sail back to Zahan, enter the shrine just southwest of town, and enter the teleportal back to Lorasia. Talk to the King there so that you can save. Now sail back up to the island where you found the Sun Seal, and move west. You should reach another island, with mountains blocking any entrance. But on the left side of that little island, there is a hole in the mountains, so enter and position yourself on the one square of forest. Press A, and you'll find a World Leaf! You can only carry one at a time, but if you use it once, come back here to get another. The World Leaf will revive any one of your fallen party members, and it's a great item to have, at least until the Prince and Princess learn Revive. From that island, sail west to reach a continent, Hargon's continent. But Hargon is hidden all the way up in Rhone, an icy area in the middle of the Southern continent. He can't do anything to you right now, so sail along the southern coast heading to the left. Follow that coast and you should see a town inland slightly. Exit the boat, and enter the town of Wellgarth. Not much to see? Open the locked door and head downstairs to the hidden town. Now this is a town! Go to the weapons shop and buy a Light Sword if you can afford it, it is powerful but expensive. Okay, heal if necessary, and go to the item shop that is on the left side of the main floor. Talk to the man there, and put the cursor on the empty space that you see. Press A, and the man will agree to sell you the "secret" item. It's the Jail Key! Now you can open all those locked jail doors. To start off, in this town head into the covered area on the right side of town and up to the right jail cell. Enter it, which appears to be empty and go to the right wall next to the silver thing in the middle. Push right against the wall and you'll find the thief, Largos. He'll give you the Dam Key! ============================================================================= Osterfair Castle: Battle for the Moon Seal Head back down to the Shrine next to Zahan and then back to Lorasia to save and heal. Now from Zahan, sail north until you can find a large island, south of Lorasia. Enter it by the river on the left side and when you can exit the ship, head northwest to enter Osterfair Castle. When you enter, follow the large path up, left, and down and around. Ignore the warp gate you see and place yourself facing the black in the bottom right. Press A to open a locked door and you'll be near a man. Take the two treasures, a Knife and Gaia Armor. Equip it on the Hero or the Prince. Now go back to near the entrance and now head into the main area by exiting the main path by taking a path to the left. Head down and left to the Inn. Now talk to the King and accept his challenge and you'll have to fight a SaberLion. It hits hard, but it should die in only a couple of rounds if both the Prince and the Hero attack it. The King of Osterfair will reward you with the second seal, the Moon Seal! Now you can save here with the King as well. Quite nice rewards! Now that you have two seals, just three more remain, but first we'll go do some training and backtracking. ============================================================================= Where, oh where to train? The forest around Osterfair Castle has some good monsters to fight, a nice training area. You should train there at first, at least until the monsters are starting to seem weaker. Oh, here are the Levels I was at around Osterfair Castle, so you can judge for yourself. Hero: 16, Prince: 14, Princess: 11. You might even get lucky enough to run into a bunch of Metalys, enemies that frequently run away but are worth tons of experience, 1015 each! Another excellent area to train is the area around Wellgarth. There is another area nearby with very powerful monsters, but are tons of experience. Just be wary of getting killed, you'll have to revive the fallen member by going to see a Priest and paying him. At this point, you should be training for quite a while. You'll want to buy stuff like the Light Sword and the Heal Shield to bolster your fighting power. The more money and experience you gain, the better off you'll be later. Before leaving the area around Wellgarth, buy two Light Swords, one for the Hero, the other for the prince. You'll need this new weapon badly against the monsters you'll soon face. You need just three more seals, but they are the toughest to get. For one, you'll need to explore an abandoned lighthouse, a virtual maze. Will you get out of it alive? For the second, you need to search in the heart of Hargon's Continent: The Cave to Rhone. The cave is full of the toughest monsters you've faced yet, and the cave is difficult to get through. And for the third, you'll have to backtrack to a familiar town... Before you go after these three seals, you'll want to make sidequests so that you can get the best weapons, the best armor, and be in the best shape possible for the coming fights. In addition, you'll need some hidden items in order to reach Hargon's Stronghold itself. Your quest isn't over yet. ============================================================================= Loto Equipment: Turning the Prince of Lorasia into a true Hero You may have the Loto Sword already, but you don't have the rest of the Loto equipment. But certainly they can't be too hard to find. Head to the Southeastern corner of Alfregard and enter the shrine that you see. The Priest there will present you with the Loto Helmet! Equip this on the Hero right away. But there's more. Head to Cannock Castle and open the Locked door with the Gold Key. Inside is a man who will tell you to take the contents of the treausre chest that he guards. Open the treasure chest, and you'll receive the powerful Loto Shield. Equip this on the Hero too, and now he'll have strong defense. Now as for some of the other quests... ============================================================================= The Water City: Beran Beran is a good outpost to save at and to go from when heading off on these next few quests. It's the island on the Southwest of the World Map. Land on the left coast and walk inland to find a town in the middle of the lake. Make sure you remember where this town is because you'll need to Return there several times throughout the rest of the game. DO NOT USE THE INN THERE! If you do, the Prince will become Cursed and you'll have to leave him behind. Cure him with a World Leaf if this happens. Anyway, one of the important items you'll need to get is the Evil Statue, but it's trapped in an inaccessible island. You need something else to clear away the reefs blocking your entrance to that island. But first, let's go get some better armor for the Princess. ============================================================================= The Dew Yarn and the Holy Loom Remember the tower where you jumped off with the Wind Cloak? I told you to remember the tower north of the river, where you had landed. Head up there now; it shouldn't be too far away from Beran, just pretty far to the north. Enter that northern tower and move up to the third floor. When you reach the third floor, go two steps left and one step up. Now search with A and you'll find the hidden Dew Yarn! As for the Holy Loom, you'll need to go back to Zahan. While in there, go to the area with the odd looking floor. If you have the spell StepGuard, use it. Head up in it and proceed to the right. Unlock the door with the jail key and open the treasure chest. It's the Holy Loom! NOTE: Heal often if you don't use the StepGuard spell and CHECK YOUR HP! It will be going down. ============================================================================= The Village of Tuhn Tuhn is a secluded town that is difficult to get to. Luckily, you can kill two birds with one stone there. Being at a high level is very important if you want to have any chance of surviving the quest to Tuhn. Try to have your hero above level 20. To do so, train around Wellgarth a lot. If those enemies seem too easy, cross the bridge just west of Wellgarth and fight the monsters in the hills there. You should be earning 200-300 experience per battle. Now, in order to start your long journey to secluded Tuhn, start off your trek in Beran. From that town, go to your ship and sail north around the coast of Beran's Island. When the island ends, continue heading east. Eventually, you'll reach the mainland. Now you should really just search around for a river to enter the continent. Search southeast of the area you're in right now. You'll know you've got the right one if you see the river split into two rivers, with the bottom river having coral blocking it and a little further up it splits again, this time with the bottom one hitting a bridge right away. Go on the North River and sail up all the way until it starts to fully turn right. Get off it before it turns, on the left coast. Now you'll need to go up and around some mountains. Walk west until you finally can get past the mountains and then turn up and right. Walk far to the right, following the river you had sailed on before, and down around some more mountains. You should see Tuhn on the right, but if you don't continue moving to the east. Head down and left around the mountains and you should see the village of Tuhn. In Tuhn, take the Dew Yarn and the Holy Loom to the building in the middle of town that you must use the Gold Key to open. Head downstairs and give the items to him. Come back later, and when he's finished, he'll give you the impressive Water Cloak, which you should equip on the Princess. Now, for the other reason you came here, follow the yellow path of the town until you are one step to the right of the Weapon/Armor shop. Head up into the grass. If you see a dog, you're heading the right way. Go up until you see a man then turn left and wall until you hit some trees. Now go down and left around the trees and open the locked door. Head downstairs and open the dam with the Dam Key to restore a river. You'll need to use that river to reach a tower. Exit the town and you'll see that the river on the left side of town has been restored. Now you have easy access to Tuhn and you can reach the Lune Tower. ============================================================================= The Lune Tower: The Mysterious Moon Shard Leave Tuhn and backtrack all the way back to your ship. Now get on the restored river that leads straight to Tuhn and follow it south. To get to that river, sail back to the ocean on the river you came to Tuhn by, and sail southeast to the next river you see. Now sail and eventually, you'll reach a new tower to explore, the Lune Tower. Enter it, and fight a battle inside. If you take tons of damage, back out and train some more. If the damage you take is not severe, you can go on and try to find the Moon Shard. From the start, head down to the main central area with the pictures on the floor. Go left and up to the stairs, but ignore them for now and head left to take the treasure in the chest. It's a STR seed! Give it to the Hero or the Prince and head to the stairs you first passed and climb them. Go down and right, into another pair of stairs, up to the next floor. Now go up and you'll find a treasure chest with 1205 gold inside. Now go back downstairs and head right into a four way. Go up at first, and take the Mystic Nut in the treasure chest. Go back down to the four-way and go right this time. Follow that path right and down to the stairs heading down. You'll find another treasure chest, this one containing a DEF seed. Give it to the Prince and go back upstairs to the four-way. Now go up the stairs in the middle of the four-way to the third floor. Now just go up a little more to reach more stairs heading up, and take them. At first, head down to the two treasure chests and open them. One contains 277 gold, the other has another DEF seed. Head back up to the stairs but don't go in them not, instead go right to another set of stairs going up. Go down now after heading up the stairs to another set of stairs outside a locked door. Now go down, left, up and right, around a wall to another set of stairs, leading to a tiny floor with one treasure chest. Inside is another Wizard ring, and give it to someone who doesn't have one yet (but NOT the Hero). Go back down to the floor with the locked door and open it this time. Take the stairs heading down, and on the new floor you are, go up and left to another set of stairs leading down. Now follow the path up to more stairs. Head down them, and on the new floor, just go up a little to even more stairs. Now you'll see a man, so talk to him. He'll tell you to open the treasure chest, so do so, and you'll receive the Moon Shard! Cast Outside and Return, and this quest is over. ============================================================================= Unfinished Business: The Water Seal You may have the Moon Shard, but you still need three more seals. Try backtracking to an old town, Hamlin on the Middle Continent. Head there and heal and save. Now go to the locked door and open it with the Gold Key (it's in the Northern part of town). Head downstairs and go up to the jail cell and use the jail key to open one of the doors. You'll now have to fight two Ozwargs. They're simple if you have the Light Swords and are at Level 18 or higher (the Hero). Now go to the top right corner and search. It's the hidden Water Seal! Three seals down, two to go! ============================================================================= The Sea Cave The Sea Cave is, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere. Sail to an island far north of the island with the World Leaf. Check the World Map, and you'll see a huge blue area, with a tiny island to the right of it. Sail to that island. You'll know you've reached the correct one when you see an island with a cave surrounded by coral. Use the Moon Shard, and the coral will disappear, opening your way to the cave. Enter it and prepare for a long journey. From the start, immediately use the StepGuard spell that Eric has (learns it at level 17. Head up and left along the path the lava makes. Follow the path left, up, and then right, until you reach land. Follow the land path right until you reach a treasure chest containing 1197 gold. Now return to the main entrance, and go to the land path heading down, which is located just a few steps down and left of the entrance. Follow the path down, then left. Ignore the black area above you and the path heading down, but do go to the next path up to get another treasure chest, this one containing a Mystic Nut. Go back down to the main path and follow it left and down, not venturing into the lava. You'll go into a black area, and then down some stairs. Head down into this new area, along the path. Follow the path left, ignoring the path down into the black area. Keep going left until you reach a path going down, and take that. Now go left until you hit a wall. At this point, a lava path should be straight above you. Ignore that and go down as far as you can until hitting another wall. Continue following the path you are on, left around the lava and down and right along the path. Head up into the covered area and cross the lava to the land with a treasure chest with another Wizard Ring inside. Ignore the stairs and head back down to the main path. Now go back left along the path you came and follow it all the way left around the lava, up, right, and up all the way to the lava path you passed before. Now head onto it, and follow it up and left to the stairs. Head left to the locked door and open it, and follow the path left, ignoring the stairs that you see. Ignore the first treasure chest you see because it is a trap, and ignore the second set of stairs as well. When you reach the left wall, head up to take the treasure chest with the STR seed, and now go down along the long main path. Follow it down to the lava pool, and keep following it as it goes around the lava. Now it will turn right, but stay on it. It will now be going up, around some lava, but DON'T GO IN THE LAVA! Stay on that path! Follow the path and you'll see two sets of stairs on the path. Take the upper set, the one above the other. Now you'll be on a tiny island around lots of lava. Cast StepGuard and go on a straight line to the left, through the lava, all the way to the wall. Now go up and then to the stairs that you should see. Enter them and now you'll be on the final floor. Now on the path, head down at the three way and follow the snaking path that will soon be going to the right. Follow it right, then eventually up to a little shrine. Two Evil Clowns will challenge you to a battle, so heal as soon as you see one. If the Hero is above Level 18, you'll win for sure, as long as you heal after one casts Firebane. Head up after you defeat them to get your prize, the Evil Statue! Cast outside and return and you'll finally be done! ============================================================================= The Lighthouse and the Star Seal Tired of these little quests? Good news for you, we're going off to find the fourth Seal now! The Lighthouse, like DracoLord's descendant said, is located on an island south of Alfregard. It shouldn't be too tough to find if you check the World Map. Enter it and talk to the soldier if you want. Now head up into the huge entrance. Start out by going to the right along a long path, then following the path as it turns up. Keep heading up, ignoring the path on the left that you shouldn't take. Now the path will curve to the left and up again, so keep following it. Instead of following the path when it turns left, head up to the broken wall and pass through, going up. Now you should go to the left, all the way until you FINALLY hit the end wall, ignoring any other paths you could take. Unfortunately, now you have to trek a while along the path as it now goes down, all the way. Again, ignore any other paths and keep going straight down. Now follow the path right then up, then right again. At the area with the hole in the wall and the holes in the ground (Don't worry, you won't fall), go up. You should see a weird looking area in the middle now. Go right and follow that long path all the way to the wall. Now go up, and the covered area should be on your left. However, you can turn left and enter that covered area. You should see some stairs, but first go up and out of the area, and follow the path left until you reach a treasure chest with 501 gold inside. Go back to those stairs you saw but don't enter them now. Instead, head left into another covered area, but again don't enter the stairs. Go down again into yet another covered area, and this time enter the stairs. Follow the path left, then turn down and then go right and enter the stairs going up. Now head left and turn up and enter the stairs you'll soon see. At first go down into the covered area and follow the path down then right, ignoring the stairs. Open the treasure chest with 733 gold inside. Head left and up, ignoring the stairs again, until you reach the stairs that you entered this floor by. Now take the path right, and turn up as soon as you can to a new path. Follow this path up, then left along a tiny path on the edge of the tower. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! If you fall off, you'll have to start over. Now go down into the stairs. Head up and right along the very thing path and continue to follow it to the right. Soon you'll reach some more stairs to enter. Go down and left to the door and open it to go into the covered area. Now go up and follow the thin path up and left to more stairs going up. Now go along the tiny path to the right, but head down from the edge when you can. You should see a creature disappear into a covered area, so follow it. You'll reach an old man who says he'll take you to the seal. Follow him to the left, and now head down the stairs in the BOTTOM LEFT CORNER! Make sure you go down the correct set! Follow the old man right to another set of stairs, which you should enter. Follow him up along the path until you reach the stairs again. Enter them and follow the old man down and left to more stairs. Enter them, and follow him yet again to the right and up to some more stairs, the final set that you should enter. Now follow the path down and left then up to the old man. You should see a treasure chest, but nothing is inside! The old man will taunt you, and several creatures will attack you, but they're horribly weak. Defeat them easily to obtain the star seal! Cast outside and return so that you can heal and save. Four of the five precious seals are yours. ============================================================================= The Final Seal! You've searched the whole world to find the four seals. The only unexplored place left is the mysterious central area in the middle of the world. But how can you reach it? Mountains surround it at any given area. The secret lies in Beran. On the left side of town, right by the Priest, there is a Locked Door. Open it with the Jail Key and go up to the teleportal. You'll be teleported to a small area. Go down two steps and you'll find yourself in a shrine. Step into the swamp area to exit the area. You're now in an unfamiliar place in the outworld, near the middle, but not quite there. Head left into the swamp, to what appears to be a dead end. Use the Evil Statue, and suddenly a cave will form in the mountains! Enter it, and you'll be in the infamous cave to Rhone. Head up to the stairs straight ahead and go down. Now head down and right into a rather large swamp toward the bottom right corner until you see a treasure chest. Go ahead and take the contents. What? The Life Seal! The last seal is now yours! Cast outside and return to get back to Beran. You have all the seals, but no clue what to do with them. Head to the Sea Cave, where you got the Evil Statue, but don't go in. Now head to a small island just northeast of the Sea Cave and go in. Keep going down until you reach the bottom floor. Now walk up a little, and if you have all five seals, which you should by now, they'll all react and you'll get a Rubiss Charm! ============================================================================= Train in the Cave! Go back to the Cave to Rhone, and train on the first floor, near the entrance, a LOT! You're really going to need to be at a nice high level if you want to get through this cave. The enemies on the first floor are challenging, but not unbeatable as long as your Hero is level 19+. You'll want to train here so that the Hero gains a few levels, at the very least to Level 22. You'll also be earning quite a bit of money in these battles. Use that money to buy a Heal Shield for the Prince if you haven't bought one for him already. That Shield is powerful extra defense for him. If for some reason you have an absurd amount of money (over 60,000), head to Wellgarth and see if you have enough cash for the Fur Armor for the Prince. Buy it if you can, it's the best armor for him. When you think you're ready, heal in Beran, save, and go to the entrance of the cave...and prepare for a long and exhausting journey. NOTE: If you have a lot of money, I suggest you store it in storage. Dying is a very real possibility in the cave and especially in Rhone itself. ============================================================================= The Cave to Rhone: The Items Several items that are imperative for you to get are spread out in the Cave. From armor to weapons, you'll need these important items in order to defeat Hargon. So now, reenter the Cave, and from the entrance, follow the path until you can first turn right. Go right and down and right again. You'll now be at an area that will look like this: ________ ____ | X | ___| __ | | X | | | ____| ___| | | |_ | | E | | | _________| | S| The X stands for a hole in the floor. If you fall to the basement, you must get back up and try to get through again. The S is your destination, a set of stairs going up. The E is the point from which you entered this area, so maneuver yourself that you get from E to S, without stepping on X. In other words, try hugging the lower walls so that you don't fall. Once you reach the stairs, you'll be on the simple second level. Up here, simply go down one step and head left into the black area. Now keep going left and you'll reach a four way. Continue heading left, and when you reach the third four-way (including the first), go up. You should see a set of stairs. If you don't, go on and try again. Now go up the stairs, and you'll be on the dangerous third floor. The third floor's monsters are pretty tough, so keep your HP near maximum at all times. From the start, head along the path down and right. Ignore the path up, and turn straight down. Ignore the path to the left as well, and keep following the path down and right, then straight right. Take the up path and get the treasure, a Slot Token. Now go back to the path and keep going right to the stairs. Climb another set, then go right to a treasure chest. It's the Loto Armor! Immediately equip it on the Hero, and head back downstairs, and follow the path back all the way to the stairs you entered that floor originally by. Now from the stairs, go left into the black area, and just keep going left to the next stairs. And now go up that set and the next set, and go right to the treasure chest. It's the Magic Helmet, which is good news for you, because the Prince now has some extra protection. Go back downstairs and right to the stairs that you originally reached this floor by again. Now go slightly left and up along a new path. Follow that path until you can turn right, then do so and go down to a treasure chest with 1379 gold inside. Go back to the main path and keep heading up, then up and right. Don't go on the right path; instead go up and left to a three way. Go left, and to know that you're on the right path, you should see a lake above you. Continue heading left, then down and left to some stairs. Now, on the fourth floor, be careful of any monsters you fight. They'll be VERY tough, but tons of experience. This is an excellent place to train, as long as you are able to slay Dragons without having any of your party members fall. Dragons are nearly 500 experience each, so they are very good enemies to fight. Keep in top shape at all times. Follow the only path down and then left, to two treasure chests. One is the Evil Shield, which you should later sell. The other contains a mere 569 gold. Go back right and up and downstairs. Follow the path up and right to the lake, then back to the three- way. Take the path going up and right. Follow it far to the right and take the stairs in the top right corner. Go right and take the stairs again. Now go right one step and down one step. You should fall down a hole into another level. If you don't, search around until you find one, since they're everywhere around you. Now go to the bottom left corner of this gigantic room. From the very bottom left corner, go one step up and one step to the right. You'll fall down yet another hole, but you should see a sword. Go up and take it, it's the Thunder Sword! Equip it on the Hero, who is now extremely powerful. Now go down and right to the far right wall, and you'll fall down another hole. Now follow the path straight up and soon you'll fall down yet another hole. You'll now be on the first floor. Usually, I like to cast Outside and Return, so that I can save and sell some of the items. If you can, go to Wellgarth to buy the Fur Armor for the Prince, which is very expensive. Otherwise, save and heal, and head back to the Cave. ============================================================================= Passing through the Cave to Rhone You've gathered all the treasure that the cave has to offer. Now if you wish to go on, you must completely pass through the cave to the heart of Hargon's land, called Rhone. Equip your strongest weapons and armors, heal, and prepare to re-enter the cave. Now you'll need to get back up to the higher floors. You should know by now how to get to the second floor, so here's the walkthrough again, from there. Now, from the stairs on the second floor, go down one step and head left into the black area. Now keep going left and you'll reach a four way. Continue heading left, and when you reach the third four-way (including the first), go up. You should see a set of stairs. If you don't, go on and try again. Now go up the stairs, and you'll be on the third floor once again. On the main path, head left and up and keep heading up, while passing a path on the right and one on the left (don't take those paths). Keep going up and you should now be at the three-way. Take the path going up and right. Follow it far to the right and take the stairs in the top right corner. Go right and take the stairs again. Now pay close attention to these directions, or else you'll fall down a hole. If that happens, go up and right to the top right corner to get back to the correct floor. Anyway, from the stairs, go down two steps. Go left two steps. Go down all the way until you hit the wall. Go right all the way until you hit the wall. Now just go up the stairs to reach the final floor. You'll probably want to train on this floor because the enemies can give you 1,000 experience or more! Train and if things get desperate, escape using Outside and Return, then use the directions above to return to this area. Gain at least a couple of levels, then prepare to go to Rhone. I certainly hope you're ready. On this final floor, go up slightly to a four-way. Now take the right path and follow it as it soon turn up. Now at a three-way, go left, and follow that path to another three-way. This time, go right and follow that path until you reach a central area. You should see a central little rock, so go around it by using the lower path, and follow that path right and up and then turn right. Now you'll hit a wall, so go up and right. This long path will have you going right and up. When you reach another intersection, go left along another path that will take you up. Keep heading up and don't take any other paths. Finally you'll hit the wall at the final three-way. Take the right path and follow it for quite a while, until you reach the stairs leading out of the Cave to Rhone! ============================================================================= Rhone: Heart of Evil Emerging from the Cave, you'll see mountains all around you, with a white path to the right. You're finally in Rhone. The monsters here are the most powerful in the game, so you'd better find a place to train. You're going to need to gain levels badly until you're strong enough to really fight. Get your Hero up to Level 27 at least in the Cave to Rhone before tackling this area, and equip your best weapons and armor. Now you'll need to find a place to save. Emerging from the Cave, head right along the white path. Follow it right, and don't go in the forest to the north. You'll now be heading up and right, with forests on your left side, but always stay on the white path. Keep going up and now white hills will be on your left. Continue straight up and you should reach a tiny forest. Go right and around it and follow the path to the right. You should see a bridge, so go across it and up to another bridge. Now you should finally be at a shrine, so enter it. The man there will not only save your game and revive fallen party members, but heal your MP and HP as well! DO NOT TAKE THE WARP! It will lead back down from Rhone. Use it only if you REALLY, REALLY need to go back to the world. DO NOT SAVE OUTSIDE OF RHONE! If you do, you'll need to go through the Cave again. If you don't, just cast Return and you'll be back up here. So what now? You're in Rhone, but you aren't strong enough to defeat Hargon yet. The answer is simple, train right near the shrine. The enemies around here can give you up to 2,500 experience, which will make gaining levels easier. Unfortunately, you will die many times. Try to have one party member survive each fight, so that you can get revived by the man at the shrine. Now, what next? Getting to the shrine was tough enough, getting to Hargon's Castle at a low level is even tougher. So train, and do it a lot! You'll want to be training for a hideous amount of time. Exactly up to what level is pretty much your choice. 32 for the Hero is probably the minimum that you should go at. ============================================================================= The Path to Hargon When you think you're ready, head out of the shrine. In case you were wondering, I like to have the Hero at 35, the Prince around 33, and the Princess around 28. Now leave the shrine and go left across the bridges and up to the forest. Head up and left, staying only in the forest, not the hills. At one point, a tiny line of mountains will force you to decide whether to stay in the forest along the upper path or head to the hills in the bottom path. Stay in the forest along the upper path and go left. You'll be surrounded by water and mountains, but the path will keep going left, so follow it. Keep going left, and then down, staying in the forest at all times. Finally the path will go straight down, then turn right, so continue to follow it. Finally the forest will begin to end and you will have to decide whether to go to the hills along the north path or in the white snow along the right path. Head up into the hills, which end pretty quickly. Keep going up into a forest surrounding desert, and go into that desert, where Hargon's Castle stands. ============================================================================= The Final Journey: Hargon's Castle Enter the castle...and...HUH? LORASIA CASTLE? But you're in Rhone. Take a look around, and it sure looks like Lorasia. You can sell and buy items, and heal at the inn. Go ahead and heal at the inn. Now take a look around the castle and talk to some of the people. They seem to...accept and like Hargon! Something is definitely wrong here. Go and talk to the King, the Hero's father. What? He has allowed Hargon to take over the Kingdom? Okay, that's the last straw. This can't be real. Wait...the seals...the Charm. That's it! Use the Rubiss Charm...it was an illusion! Whew, knew that something was wrong there! Okay, you are now in the real castle, and it's time to end Hargon's reign of evil. Go up from the beginning until you reach the throne. Go left and around the throne and cast StepGuard. Take one step into the blue floor and one step left and face up. Press A to open a door and step up into a little area. Go right three steps, face up, and open another door into what looks like a dead end. The white floor is shaped like a cross. Stand in the middle of the white cross, and use the Evil Statue. You are now in the main area of Hargon's Castle, and you will now go up to vanquish him. At first, go up, but then turn right into the middle area of the floor. Head right, and when you reach the stairs, go up them. Now follow the path up, then turn left, and head down. When you reach the bottom wall, go right, down, and left around it. Follow the straightforward path left, then up, and finally right to the stairs. On the third floor, follow the path right, until you can turn down. Do so and follow that path down, and then left. Keep following it when it turns up and then right, and follow that path to the stairs. Now, you're in a difficult area, so go left and count the number of covered areas above you. Enter the third one by going up and you should see stairs. Now keep going right across the bridge all the way until you reach the stairs. Cast StepGuard after you go up them, and go left around the blue floor and then up into the middle area. Heal fully, and use Wizard Rings to restore your MP. Head up and you should see an enemy figure, so talk to him. It's none other than the infamous Hargon himself, who will ask you a question. It doesn't matter what you answer, so do what you want. Hargon will whine and complain about you, then fight you. He can attack twice, cast Explodet, attack you with a Sleeping spell, and do a couple other moves. But he isn't too difficult, as long as you keep everyone's HP over 50. If someone falls, revive him/her. Have the Princess cast Healmore/HealAll, to keep your HP up. Eventually, Hargon will fall. But as you try to escape, flames surround you and you'll be trapped and attacked, by Sidoh, the final boss. Have the Hero attack always, and have the Prince cast Increase at first. Have the Princess start by casting Defense a couple of times to kill Sidoh's defense. Watch out when he attacks twice, because he packs a punch. When he casts Defense on you, follow with an Increase spell all the time. He can really hurt you when he attacks twice and breaths intense flames, over a hundred damage at times, so always be ready to heal. Watch out because he uses the Intense Flames move often, and it will hurt the Prince for over 100 damage. Sidoh has a ton of life, so keep pounding away at him, and always keep your HP up fairly high. He'll form a pattern of attacks, with his Increase and Defense spells, and his normal attacks and Intense Flames. If you can defeat him, you've managed to finally end the chaos. Victory is yours. WARNING: SOME ENDING SPOILERS ARE AHEAD!!!!!!!!! DO NOT READ PAST THIS UNLESS YOU AGREE TO SEE THESE SPOILERS. "A beautiful voice echoes everywhere, Sidoh, the agent of chaos, is no more. Peace will return. I will always watch over you...The gods of all life, let your light shine upon my progeny!" "Now, go on..." You'll watch Hargon's Castle be destroyed. And now, your quest is complete. You can now head back to the shrine and transport yourself back to the world. Everyone will cheer for you, and enemies will no longer attack. Dragon Warrior 1 Weapons ============================================================================= Here is all of the weapons that you find in Dragon Warrior 1. I'll list the weapons, their attack power, their cost, and where you can find/buy them, along with their cost. ============================================================================= Bamboo Stick Cost: 10g Where found: Tantagel, Mercado Attack +2 Comments: Although many people like to start out with the club, I actually prefer to use this and save my money for later. In the original DW1, this was useless, but now this should destroy the slimes around Tantagel in one hit. Good value. ============================================================================= Club Cost: 60g Where found: Tantagel, Garinham, Mercado Attack +4 Comments: More expensive than the Bamboo Stick, but a little more powerful. Not too much of a difference though. This is more effective against Drackys and Spookys than the Bamboo Stick is, but is the same against Slimes. ============================================================================= Copper Sword Cost: 180g Where found: Every Store in Alfregard Attack +10 Comments: Fairly expensive, but more powerful than the Club and Bamboo Stick. I like to save my money until I get the Iron Axe. This is the preferred choice to use against monsters south of Garinham, if you go there before you get the Iron Axe. ============================================================================= Iron Axe Cost: 560g Where found: Garinham, Kol, Rimuldar, Mercado Attack +15 Comments: Very important weapon to get. You must have this in order to win battles in the Western Cave, and it's also good to train with south of Garinham and around Kol. It's not too expensive either, making it a good value. ============================================================================= Steel Sword Cost: 1500g Where found: Rimuldar, Mercado Attack +20 Comments: An excellent weapon to have, and very cheap. If you can't afford it, just train around Rimuldar for a couple battles to get enough. You need this badly to save Lady Lora and to go through Garin's Tomb. ============================================================================= Flame Sword Cost: 9800g Where found: Mercado Attack +28 Comments: It can be difficult to defeat enemies in the South without this weapon, but it's very expensive. Go for it if you have the money, but if you can't afford it, this isn't absolutely necessary to have, although it helps a lot. ============================================================================= Loto's Sword Cost: Can't buy Where found: DracoLord's Castle Attack +40 Comments: Um...since it is the best sword in the game, I think you should get it. Way better than the Flame Sword, it allows you to defeat even the most difficult monsters with ease. It's difficult to defeat DracoLord without it. ============================================================================= B. Dragon Warrior 2 Weapons ============================================================================= The only real change here is that I won't list EVERY place where you can get the weapon. I'll list the first place. Oh, and also, I'll list who can equip the weapon. H is for the Hero, P is for the Prince of Cannock, and M is for the Princess of Moonbrook. ============================================================================= Club: Cost: 60g First Place found: Cannock Castle OR equipped on the Prince of Cannock at the start Attack +8 Who can equip? H,P Comments: The only time you'll want to use this is if you can't afford a Sickle to buy for the Prince. Otherwise, ignore this pretty much useless weapon. ============================================================================= Copper Sword: Cost: 100g First Place found: Equipped on the Hero at the Start Attack +10 Who can equip? H,P Comments: You'll have to be satisfied with this weapon until you can afford the Sickle, so be happy you get it for free. It has more than enough power to tear through the weak enemys at the start, and is more than adequate to use until you get the sickle. ============================================================================= Knife: Cost: 200g First Place found: Leftwyne/Cannock Castle Attack +12 Who can equip? H,P,M Comments: It's a lot more expensive than the sword, but only a little bit better. If you can't afford a sickle yet, and you're very impatient, this isn't a BAD weapon to have, especially if you can't afford a Sickle to give to the Prince of Cannock when you first get him. Otherwise, skip this weapon. ============================================================================= Sickle: Cost: 330g First Place found: Leftwyne/Cannock Castle Attack +15 Who can equip? H,P Comments: This is the weapon you'll tackle the Hero's Spring and the Lake Cave with. It packs a punch, and isn't that expensive. You'll be using this for quite a while, at least until you reach the middle continent, so get used to this. Oh, and make sure you buy two of them, one for the Hero, the other for the Prince. ============================================================================= Spear: Cost: 770g First Place found: Hamlin Attack +20 Who can equip? H,P Comments: Pass on this weapon. The Sickle is still adequate in training around Hamlin, and the Steel Sword is a much better choice for another more permanent weapon. Wait until you get that. However, since the Prince cannot equip the Steel Sword, buy a Spear for the Prince, and a Steel Sword for the Hero. ============================================================================= Steel Sword: Cost: 1500g First Place found: Hamlin Attack +30 Who can equip? H Comments: Now THIS is a weapon! Powerful, not too far out of your price range, this weapon can destroy the enemies you fight around Hamlin and beyond! This is definitely a keeper, for as long until you get the boat, when you'll finally get something better. The only drawback is that only the Hero can equip it. ============================================================================= Wooden Stick Cost: Can't buy, sell for 15g First Place found: Equipped on Princess at the Start Attack +2 Who can equip? H,P,M Comments: Beyond useless. Oh, this will hit your enemies...for one damage, if it actually does hit. Buy a Knife for the Princess when you get her and sell this useless weapon. ============================================================================= Wizard Cane: Cost: 2500g First Place found: Enemies in Wind Tower, Lianport Attack +27 Who can equip? H,P,M BONUS: Use as item to cast Firebal Comments: The Princess's best weapon for quite a long time. Buy one for her, and the Prince too, but the Prince will find a better weapon shortly. This still isn't very powerful in the Princess's hands, but it's a much better choice than the Knife. ============================================================================= Hammer: Cost: 4000g First Place found: Tantagel Castle Town Attack +40 Who can equip? H Comments: Another very powerful weapon, but only the Hero can equip it. It's an excellent weapon to pound the enemies in DracoLord's Castle with. You should definitely buy one of these. ============================================================================= Loto Sword: Cost: Can't buy First Place found: DracoLord's Castle Attack +40 Who can equip? H,P Comments: The Hammer is just as good for the Hero, but this is an excellent weapon to equip the Prince with. Since you get it for free, use it! This is definitely a nice improvement over the wizard cane. ============================================================================= Dragon Sword: Cost: 8000g First Place found: Osterfair, Wellgarth Attack +63 Who can equip? H Comments: An okay weapon, but by the time you get this, it will already be outdated. In Wellgarth rests an even better weapon, the Light Sword. If you're desperate for an upgrade and can't wait to accumulate the gold, though, this is a fine choice. ============================================================================= Light Sword: Cost: 16000g First Place found: Wellgarth Attack +70 Who can equip? H,P Comments: Yay! One of the best three weapons of the game! Arguably the second best, but if you can afford it, buy two of these, one for the Hero, one for the Prince. Both will be very strong with this powerful weapon. ============================================================================= Falcon Sword: Cost: 25000g First Place found: Tuhn Attack +7 Who can equip? H,P BONUS: Attack twice with this weapon Comments: Eh, not that great. Yes, you attack twice, but your attacks will be weaker than one Light Sword attack. This is the weapon of choice against a Metaly or Metababble, so you might want to keep one or two handy, but make sure you buy Fur Armor first. ============================================================================= Thunder Sword: Cost: Can't buy First Place found: Cave to Rhone Attack +95 Who can equip? H Comments: Very hard to find, but worth it. By far the most powerful weapon in the game. Equip the Hero with it immediately, and he'll rip apart even monsters in Rhone. Well, I wouldn't go that far, but this is an extremely powerful weapon. ============================================================================= Devil Sword Cost: Can't Buy First Place found: Monsters drop it, mostly in Rhone Attack +105 Who can equip? H,P SPECIAL: Puts a curse on you Comments: A...unique weapon. It's the most powerful weapon in the game, but it places a curse on you. Sometimes during a battle, it'll say that you're cursed and you can't move. Don't even consider giving this to your Hero, but think about possibly letting the Prince equip this. Once you get it, DON'T unequip it, unless you're at a Priest who can de-curse you. Think about this: Is the vast increase in attack power worth giving up a turn once in a while for? ============================================================================= Bolt Wand Cost: Can't buy First place found: Lorasia Castle (fight the Magnus for it) Attack +45 Who can equip? H,P,M SPECIAL: Use as item to hit multiple enemies with Lightning Comments: The best weapon that the Princess can equip. Give it to her if you want her to cause any kind of damage to enemies. This is a solid weapon, but the Princess will never be a strong attacker. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================== = 12. Armor List = ================== Here is a list of the armor found in both games. Dragon Warrior 1 is separated from DW 2. ============================================================================= A. Dragon Warrior 1 Armor ============================================================================= Now, here is a list of all the armor in Dragon Warrior 1, including armor and shields. Listed pretty much the same way as the weapons. ============================================================================= Clothes Cost: 20g Where found: Tantagel (buy), Kol (hidden in dresser) Defense +2 Comments: Pretty much useless. Yes, they are cheap, but if you're fighting Slimes, they won't make much of a difference. Save your money for something better. ============================================================================= Leather Shield Cost: 90g Where found: Tantagel, Kol Defense +2 Comments: Expensive, but provides only as much defense as clothes. An utter waste of money. Pass this up as well. ============================================================================= Leather Armor Cost: 70g Where found: Tantagel, Garinham, Mercado Defense +4 Comments: A little more protection than clothes, and it might make a bit of a difference. You don't have to buy these, instead you might want to save up for some more powerful armor. ============================================================================= Chain Armor Cost: 300g Where found: Garinham, Mercado Defense +10 Comments: Finally, armor that does something. You should buy this before going into the Western Cave, as it will protect you well. Not too expensive either, for such solid defense. ============================================================================= Iron Shield Cost: 800g Where found: Garinham, Western Cave, Mercado Defense +10 Comments: Well, don't buy it in Garinham or you'll be wasting your money. Explore the Western Cave thoroughly, and you'll get this nice shield for free. It's the best shield you get until you finally reach Mercado. ============================================================================= Iron Armor Cost: 1000g Where found: Kol, Rimuldar Defense +16 Comments: Skip this armor. Instead, save your money for the important, powerful, Steel Armor that you'll badly need. ============================================================================= Iron Shield Cost: 14800g Where found: Mercado Defense +20 Comments: Since it is the strongest shield in the game, if you have enough money, buy it. However, buy the flame sword first, since that is more important to spend your money on. ============================================================================= Steel Armor Cost: 3000g Where found: Kol, Rimuldar, Mercado Defense +24 Comments: It's fairly expensive, but vital to have. It's the second strongest armor in the game, so make sure you pick this up as soon as you can. ============================================================================= Magic Armor Cost: 7700g Where found: Rimuldar, Mercado Defense +24, Restores 1HP for every two steps Comments: The extra perk does not really help that much by the time you can afford it. It's more important to save your money for the flame sword, and you'll soon be able to pick up Loto's armor, so pass on this. ============================================================================= Loto Armor Cost: Cannot buy Where found: Domdona Defense +28, Restores 1HP for every step, no HP loss in Swamps or trap floors Comments: You'll have to fight a tough battle for this, but it's worth it. You really need the HP restoring in DracoLord's castle, and the extra defense is excellent too. It's the best armor in the game, so don't forget to get it. ============================================================================= B. Dragon Warrior 2 Armor ============================================================================= Like the weapons, I'll list who can equip the armor and the first place you find it. H is for the Hero (Prince of Lorasia), P is for the Prince of Cannock, and M is for the Princess of Moonbrook ============================================================================= Leather Shield: Cost: 90g First place found: Lorasia, Cannock Who can equip? H,P Defense +4 Comments: It's a nice shield to have early on and will help your defense. The hero you might want to give if you have extra money, but DEFINITELY buy one for the Prince. He won't get a better shield for quite a while ============================================================================= Chain Armor: Cost: 390g First place found: Cannock Who can equip? H,P Defense +12 Comments: Good, beginning armor. Especially good for the Prince, so make sure he definitely gets some, and it's recommended to buy some for the Hero as well, as it makes the Lake Cave easier to get through. ============================================================================= Steel Armor: Cost: 1000g First place found: Hamlin Who can equip? H Defense +25 Comments: Definitely buy this, or else you'll have problems training, getting through the Tower of Wind, and making the Long Walk. Powerful defense, for a nice, affordable price. ============================================================================= Steel Shield: Cost: 2000g First Place found: Hamlin Who can equip? H Defense +10 Comments: It's expensive, but if you have the extra money, more defense is always a good idea. This should not be your top priority, buy new weapons and the Steel Armor before going after this. ============================================================================= Cloth Armor: Cost: Can't Buy First place found: Equipped on Princess at the start Who can equip? H,P,M Defense +? Comments: Weak armor that the Princess starts out with. Get rid of it as soon as possible. ============================================================================= Evade Armor: Cost: 1250g First place found: Lianport Who can equip? H,P,M Defense +30 SPECIAL: Increases evading ability Comments: Yes, excellent, cheap, powerful armor! It's a dream come true! Especially since even the Princess can equip this, so make sure you get 3 pairs of it! This is very, very nice armor to have. ============================================================================= Iron Helmet: Cost: 3150g First place found: Lianport Who can equip? H Defense +5 Comments: One of only three helmets in the game, and since you won't get the second for a while, you might as well buy one of these. Expensive and not very good defense, but it's a help. This should not be a high priority to get, however. ============================================================================= Magic Armor: Cost: 4300g First place found: Osterfair Castle Who can equip? H,P,M Defense +30 SPECIAL: Increases resistance to Sleep and Stop spells and increases defense against magic attacks slightly Comments: Although this is nice, it doesn't give you any more defense power than the evade armor and it's fairly expensive too. I much prefer equipping the evade armor to this. ============================================================================= Gaia Armor: Cost: Can't buy First place found: Osterfair Castle Who can equip? H Defense +42 Comments: Good, free armor. It's hidden away in Osterfair Castle, but it isn't too difficult to find. Equip this for the Hero, whichever you prefer. It's good armor, but not anything really powerful. At least it's free! ============================================================================= Heal Shield: Cost: 21500g First place found: Beran, Wellgarth Who can equip? H,P Defense +28 SPECIAL: Use as an item to heal yourself Comments: The shield of choice, especially for the Prince. It's the best shield the Prince can equip and the second best for the Hero. Expensive, but definitely buy at least one for the Prince ============================================================================= Water Robe Cost: Can't buy First place found: Tuhn Who can equip? H,P,M Defense +65 Comments: Oh, yes, this is great protection for the Princess. Give it to her as soon as you get it. It's by far the best armor for you, and it's even better than the fur armor, which is incredibly expensive. I seriously recommend that you give this to the Princess. ============================================================================= Fur Armor: Cost: 65000g First place found: Wellgarth Who can equip? H,P Defense +60 Comments: By far the most expensive item in the game. You really can't afford this until pretty near the end of the game. But when you can afford it, buy one of these to give to the Prince, as he'll badly need the extra protection of this armor. ============================================================================= Magic Helmet Cost: Can't buy First place found: Cave to Rhone Who can equip? H,P,M Defense +8 SPECIAL: Increases resistance to Sleep and Stop spells and increases defense against magic attacks slightly Comments: Since it's the only helmet that the Prince can use, give it to him. The Loto Helmet is better for the Hero to use. And since the Princess will be defending a lot, the Prince needs this more than her. ============================================================================= Loto Helmet Cost: Can't buy First place found: Shrine in Southeast Alfregard Who can equip? H Defense +25 Comments: Yes! The best helmet in the game by far is perfect for the Hero to wear. This will make his defense shoot up skyward. ============================================================================= Loto Shield Cost: Can't buy First place found: Cannock Castle (behind locked door) Who can equip? H Defense +30 Comments: Ah, more great armor for the Hero. Now with the Loto Helmet and the Loto Shield, your Hero will take damage far less than he had before. This is a big help when getting the Seals and fighting Hargon. ============================================================================= Loto Armor Cost: Can't buy First place found: Cave to Rhone Who can equip? H Defense +75 Comments: The strongest armor in the game is, not surprisingly, the Loto Armor. Put this on the Hero to make his defense soar even higher. He'll now be a formidable warrior. ============================================================================= Evil Shield Cost: Can't buy First place found: Cave to Rhone Who can equip? H Defense + 75 SPECIAL: It's evil...so it's cursed. Comments: Well, it's great defense, but you'll lose some of your turns if you wear it. Nevertheless, having this equipped along with the Devil Sword could really, really help you.
