Captain Cosoe rocks the boat of Visual Orgasm

Vorg- I guess we should do the usual stuff first. What crews do you roll with?

Cosoe- Main crew is WCB from Vancouver. It stands for We Crush Boxcars, Wild Canadian Boys, Wrecking City Blocks, and Who Cares Bro. As well as the BA and Lords crew both out of San Francisco.

Vorg- When did you actually start doing graffiti?

Cosoe- First time I picked up a marker, tagging before I even knew what it was before 1982. Let's just say I was pretty young.

Vorg- What keeps you doing it? What keeps you going?

Cosoe- I try to excel with my style. To get it cleaner and better. Push my graffiti farther and bring it to the maximum that it can go. Artistically its improving my style and I like the challenge.

Vorg- What do freights mean to you?

Cosoe- Pretty much spreading your name right across North America. Letting everyone know who you are and what kind of style you have. The fact that they move everywhere and nobody really disrespects freights. I've seen my freights come back from 4 years ago. Its cooler than hitting a local wall because you know its gonna get buffed or gone over in a week or a couple of days. There is something magical about freights its part of Canada and the United States history.

Vorg- What do you think freights bring to graffiti?

Cosoe- Freights have made the scene a lot bigger. They encompass basically all of North America. I think if it weren't for freights a lot of people wouldn't be painting. Like Seb from Saskatchewan. He even told me that he got inspired from seeing my freights and viruses. Trains to me are like an iron Internet, basically spread your message across North America and where ever there is land.

Vorg- Yeah, freights are great for people in small cities or towns.

Cosoe- Yeah they get inspired by them and often start out on trains. Its cool hat we can make the scene even bigger with trains so people can see it. It's like a national subway.

Vorg- Do you take note on how many freights have you done?

Cosoe- Yeah, well pretty much. I got about 180 I guess. I'm not really into quantity. I want to be proud of each train I've done. I'm more into the quality aspect of it all.

Vorg- What do you think of bombing freights?

Cosoe- Oh, Yeah I'm into bombing. But even bombing has to have a certain style to it. But whatever you do you should do it to the maximum you can. You know when your trying hard and when your not. For me I always try to make my shit look as good as possible.

Vorg- How do you deal with the ignorant and disrespectful people that heat out yards?

Cosoe- Well, people shouldn't leave their cans in the yard or caps in the yard and all that shit. It doesn't take much at all, its just common sense. If I meet writers in yards who are new I often try and school them like I was schooled when I started out. I don't care how big, how tall or who you think you are. Don't leave a mess or bombing the walls around it. A lot of the toys and shit don't know that I'm the one who goes in there and buffs the walls. The factory owner is gonna get pissed off, they are gonna have to buff that then they are gonna get the cops and the cops will combine with the train cops. We just don't need that. Also don't go over the numbers!!!! I even had the idea of using a stencil to put on the little numbers that are under the big numbers. Like the load limit that everyone always paints over. I'll catch a flick and then stencil the numbers back on. Then were both gonna be happy the train company will have their numbers and then they won't buff me.

Vorg For you what causes a Visual Orgasm?

Cosoe Well for trains it would be seeing wildstyle pieces with like different color 3Ds and landscapes or backgrounds. It's really dope to see characters on trains because you don't really see them that much. Even top to bottoms. I never done one, I wouldn't mind to some time. The highest quality graf is what I like.

Vorg- Any insight you want to share with people?

Cosoe- If you plan on doing graf don't just do it because your friends are doing it. Try and think about and don't just go into it half ass, take some pride in to what you're doing. Even things you learn from graffiti will effect or help you with other aspects of your life. Because If you work hard at graffiti then chances are you will work hard at your job. It's a thinking process altogether. Hmmm what else….if you're gonna hit freights and shit have respect for the trains and shit in general. Like don't go over the numbers if you don't have to and don't bomb every single train in a row. Also give respect to the hobos.

Vorg- Ya, I've seen on some of your pieces you went around the monikers.

Cosoe- Ya, I try to paint around it and what not.

Vorg- Well, that's about it…have any shout outs?

Cosoe- WCB crew, BA crew and Lords. I guess that is about it. Shouts to all the Canadian writers in all the small cities starting to hit freights and spreading graf all across this country.
