Hello Gophers!

It's been a while that I posted here. Sometimes life gets in the way...
We are finally seeing some warmer days come our way here, with some more light
and it's great for my personal feeling of well-being. I always marvel at the
positive influence on me that a bit more warmth and light has. Suddenly, the
world seems a lot more positive. It's strange.
I finally finalized the 3D printer enclosure that I mentioned before, and it's
been functioning great. The absence of drafts make sure that my prints do not
curl up from the bed anymore, and starting a print has become so much easier.
I wish I would have known this sooner. But that is always the case when you
solve a pesky problem. It's always the last thing you try... (duh).
I've also upgraded the holder for the filament spool. I bought some 608 bearings
and printed adapters that fit inside the spools. Then I used a M8 threaded rod
as a shaft to run the bearings on. Topped it off with a printed big wingnut that
holds the spools with the adapters on the shaft. It runs so smoothly now that I
can actually start the print, and walk away. I don't have to watch the spool
anymore (it would sometimes run badly on the standard holder, so I had to ad-
vance the spool by hand in order to make it possible for the extruder to pull
enough filament in). So far so good.
I still want to print with other materials than only PLA, like ABS. This in
order to be able to use the prints in my car (telephone holder, little hooks).
I tried to print stuff for the car in PLA (against my better judgment) and it
failed miserably after a day in the sun ;-)

Well that's it for now. Take care!

Cheers,

Fripster
